Most of my college roommates (my second diploma was in the mid-2010’s) were Russian- one of them (born in the mid-80’s) mentioned at one point that even decades later most Russian landlords will NOT rent to Chechens due to the apartment bombings that happened. I don’t remember what we were talking about for that remark to come up but he didn’t go into much detail about why at that point.
@@davescott7680 Yeah, but tell that to a Russian back in the 90’s. Doesn’t matter who actually blew those apartments up, it still resulted in that belief. Or he’ll, try it today, since they don’t have the same access to free and uncensored news media that we do in Europe and North America and anyone following this channel now knows just how much Putin has been propagandizing over the years.
The "we only rent to slavs" ads existed long before the apartment bombings. And still exists. Which is why when Russians started immigrating last year, there are were a lot of "we only rent to non-Slavs" memes made by Kazakhs, Kyrgizians and probably other neighbours as well. But that's just memes, in reality they showed hospitality.
@@belsempai2671 Russians do not rent apartments to migrants from Central Asia, not because they are racists. This is revenge for the Russian genocide arranged by representatives of these Central Asian peoples. Plus, these migrants, the Central Asian peoples, while in Russia, violate the rules and social norms in Russia, rape Russian women, sell drugs, and commit crimes. If you settle migrants from Central Asia in an apartment, they will drag another 20 fellow countrymen, destroy the apartment, make noise and interfere with neighbors because of this, the landlord will have problems with the police. Because of this, Russians do not rent apartments to migrants from Central Asia.

I find it shocking that Russia (as a political entity, not a cultural one) is perfectly content with slaughtering its or scarring its own military one generation at a time. I'm American so it's not like we've unlocked the secret to breaking the cycle but still...it genuinely feels like the answer is right in front of our faces
@@Silver_Prussian well Georgey, by sending an entire generation of young men to die in a needless war with no factual motivation other than political ambition and posturing, Putin is crippling the future of Russia. Are hundreds of thousands of battle-scarred troops good for Russia? For their economy? For the culture? The Kremlin frames this conflict as a righteous, anti-fascist cause, but the only person to really gain anything of substantive value here is Putin. He has all the control he wants because the billionaire oligarchs give him money to do what they want. It's literally Stalin all over again
And I still find it shocking that Americans bomb civilians more than any other nation in the world calling it "rightful". I also find it shocking that for some reason Russians are seen as "murderers" but Americans are seen as "Liberators" even tho they have flattened multiple countries and killed millions since WW2.
It's often between 50,000 and 100,000. 200,000 is a very high end estimate, and military casualties numbered as high as 30,000 on both sides in the conflict
@Raven Music what makes it "very high"? Being unpleasant? Estimates go up to 350,000. And the Chechnya's actual military losses are tiny compared to that.
@@DrMrPersonGuy So the GVBF has the highest acedemic estimate which is 80,000 killed for the second conflict. Chechen military casualties were 15,000 killed and an unknown wounded while Russian casualties were 8,000 killed

Technically the Chechen wars is not an invasion like it is in Ukraine. Chechnya never was recognized as sovoreign nation, yes they had de facto control after winning the first war, so it is Putin just weeding out separatists in his own country.

And ironically those bombings were done by Russians
Sounds like they'd be better not renting to the FSB.
It's often between 50,000 and 100,000. 200,000 is a very high end estimate, and military casualties numbered as high as 30,000 on both sides in the conflict
