Some say Yorick is an artillery melee champion. Think of yorick like another place minions can spawn. Deal with those minions first, then kill the inhibitor. Apparently to beat yorick you HAVE to dodge the E, then when it's down literally walk at him if he stays he loses. Once level 6 - 13, the maiden is more of a champion than yorick so you focus that first.

Tbh Yorick is good pick against Illaoi. Yorick also has some crazy all in damage with his lethality build. Champ is a cannon minion without his ghouls though and does nothing in team fights. I think he is rarely picked so a lot of people forget about him.

I'm a yoric main, feels bad. The best counter is Jax. When yogic lands e you wat for the ghouls to leap and e then auto all the ghouls down while your e dodges all their autos. If he lands the cage you can jump out at him and run him down. When yoric ults you wait for his e and when his maiden runs at you with the minions you auto down maiden and she will permanently agro to you while you debuff on you. He out split pushes you late game at all points. It's unplayable as yoric.
I would say that it is a cointoss between Jax and Irelia, but for me, Irelia is much harder to face as Yorick, Jax I find more manageable, at least in lane.
@@darkdrac7012 the way I've had it play out is Jax matches my splitpush and beats it and I can't 1v1 him, he also excels in to because the champ is broken. Irelia can't 1v1 him with the same ease unless your proficient with the champ. My advice is general and easy for someone that doesn't have practice on both Jax and Irelia. It's way easier to win on Jax as you just press e and run him down.

Gwen is easily far more broken as a lane bully and 1v5 teamfight potential. Yorick wins low elo often because below diamond players dont understand macro, and Yorick playstyle is mostly macro while the other players only focus on skirmish teamfights This Yorick player was decent at prioritizing keeping his Maiden alive, it is more important early game since it is a 2 minute cooldown. Yorick is quite similar to Illaoi in fight sequence, all-ins/good trades when the E is landed, if Illaoi misses hook then half her damage is not there, same with Yorick. Tyler may have survived half those fights by ulting to kill maiden first and healing out the gang attack damage. It is ALWAYS worth it for an opponent to use an ult to defeat Yorick's maiden, his cooldown on it is easily 2-4x the time of yours.
