    I just bought the m12 impact driver and drill. I’m just a DIY homeowner, but It’s handled everything I’ve thrown at it. Just installed a cedar board on board fence using screws on the pickets. Just installed a shelf near the ceiling of the garage. Ran a 3 inch lag bolt with no pilot hole and didn’t slow down. No problems drilling into brick. No regrets on going 12V fuel line. I like the light weight and compact size.

      I do commercial and residential hvac work, new construction and remodeling/finish..when i first got into the trade i went 18v but always saw.my.foremans using 12v.. the 12v fuelineup handles 90% of the work i need and takes a beating but is a beast..the 18v comes out very seldom

    The M12 was tested on CP batteries. XC batteries will have made these two a pure draw.
    M18 will give better runtimes though

    • @dperreno
      @dperreno 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If not a draw, at least an even closer race. Realistically, no one would use the smaller battery if they had to drive a lag bolt.

    I picked up the M12 Fuel Gen 2 bundle for $199. I was kicking myself when I saw online deals with an extra free tool like the Gen 1 ratcheting wrench.

    Great video. I just picked up an M12 surge yesterday. I’ve been Dewalt for years but I’m
    Going to give them a try! Might do a comparison with my dewalts on my channel also. I’m sure the noise difference there is probably huge. Dewalt is loud!

    The m18 for all day, hard work. The M12 for partial day, mobile tool bag stuff

    • @urjnlegend
      @urjnlegend 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      This is mainly due to the battery size and the handle ergonomics. You do NOT want to be using an M12 all day, it gets way hotter and is alot less comfortable, and you will feel it after using it all day. You can feel how bad the m12 dissapates heat vs the m18 on your hands. I promise you

      Michael C the handle on the M12 is perfectly fine. I think the M12 is better because even people with really big hands can hold it, because the battery the adds on to the handle even with the larger capacity batteries. But that’s just my opinion

    Like the M12 tools....first in bag & off truck. Easy to use for Electrical, plumbing, & HVAC...... Rarely do I grab my M18 tools; as the M12s have the power!(right He-Man....I have the power!....LOL🤣). Pretty cool that Milwaukee was able to pack a lot of power into the M12 platform w/ the hydraulic Impact...just think of what they come up with next for us all.

    Hit and miss with these notifications. The m12 is long and narrow and the m18 is short and fat. Definitely thought the m12 would be smaller all over. Liking the power the m12 has. Nice little comparison there.

    The M12 version hits a sweet spot for cabinet installation IMO. With the non high capacity M12 batteries it frees up a lot of space for working inside cabinet boxes, particularly screwing together a drawer box or corner cabinets. I don't have any Milwaukee 12v stuff though, so I'll keep using the M18 Surge until it gives up on me. By then there should be a gen III or IV M12 Surge that produces 1,300ft/lbs and will fit comfortably in your pants pocket.

    • @toolboss8410
      @toolboss8410  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So does the Gen 2 😉

    • @essinem4130
      @essinem4130 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@toolboss8410 I agree. My only complaint about the Gen 2 and other conventional impacts using them inside cabinets is how loud they resonate, when you have to climb inside large corner cabinet or similar to screw them together the sound deafening. With the Surge it is still loud but significantly less of a sharp.. "painful" noise.

    Can anyone vouch for the grip size between the two? I have the m12 fuel impact and have always wanted the m18 fuel impact. However, the far grip on the m12 is a little annoying. Is the m18 grip slightly slimmer than the m12? If not, that might be a dealbreaker for me as the m12 grip is annoyingly thick.
