No one ever talks about how Bill B always put TB12 in a position to win the game. He always had timeouts remaining, he never made stupid decisions on 4th down or going for 2. I think it’s undeniable that Bill B is the single greatest football coach and strategist ever.
B.S .. I can give you dozens of examples where he never put Brady in a position to win the game. In the first SB against the Rams Belichicks defense up a TD with less than two minutes left to tie it It was Brady (With No Time Outs) and only a minute and small change left that got The Pats down field into FG range .. Even John Maddon said Brady should just take a knee and try their luck in OT
@ I’m a niners fan, every year Kyle Shanahan makes a stupid decision or wrong play call or something that puts the team in a precarious situation. I can’t ever recall a time during the patriots dynasties that bill ever put his team in a bad spot and he doesn’t get enough credit for it.
@@RisitasKEKW Well i went to the 1st SB to now the next.... Carolina (2003) Belichick let Jake Delhomme of all people pass for over 300 yards and 3 TD's in only 21 minutes of possession time. The Panthers put up 19 points in the 4th quarter and Brady matched that point for point. He set a SB record by passing for 32 completions.
@@RisitasKEKW Well there is a little known story that may have elevated both of them to greatness and that was all on Belichick. In week 2 of the 2001 season (The game where Bledsoe got injured) Vinny Testaverde of The Jets fumbled the ball and the Pats recovered. The play was later deemed an incompletion and Belichick went crazy. Apparently the next day Belichick phoned the league office and the office told him it was a "Tuck" not a fumble.. And guess what a few months later the exact same thing happened to Brady (Tuck Rule) No way Belichick on the sidelines was going to let it be called a fumble and he got his way.. That was brilliant. Belichicks best coaching was understanding the time clock right down to the last second as well as rules and special teams. I'm sure he also taught Brady a lot about defense but without Brady putting up those big numbers the Pats really don't win anything *BUT* you can say that about pretty much every coach with the exception of Joe Gibbs who won 3 different SB's with three avage QB's ...
Danny said it right off the top: Belichick's record, both before AND after Brady, is a losing coach with no real success to speak of, while Brady's record after Belichick was winning seasons, playoff success and a Super Bowl win then you factor in that Belichick spent his last couple years with Brady trying to prematurely force him out the door even sooner so Bill could single handedly turn the Patriots into the worst team in football and it shouldn't be a surprise to anyone that no team in the league wanted to hand Bill full control of their organization in 2024 and beyond

It was a combination of both. As a hardcore follower of the team looking back and comparing what they had it (the pick) started as an idea that Belichick saw in Brady by picking him in the 6th round. Perhaps not right away but Brady bought into the Belichick system and had the awareness and mental fortitude to manage the game. This idea of having the highest work ethic and always strive to improve manifested in Brady and allowed him to reach his full potential. His teammates embraced Brady’s work ethic and mirrored it, winning with Tom was a big part of why they bought in to the system and believed they could achieve greatness. This echoed on until Brady was seen as no longer being able to perform up to standard (In Belichick’s eyes) Without Belichick Brady is never picked maybe at all or is a perpetual backup on a bottom feeder (I mean look at his combine stats), the man grew into the goat through dedication and challenging the standard. His excellence may have shined elsewhere but potentially not everywhere as stars are let go all the time. His journey to goat status may have taken a step back for a couple years
I think they equally get credit. bill's clock management, timeout usage, putting Tom in position to utilize talents and others as well, plus all the personalities he kept in check. it's equal to me.
How many players stayed in New England or came to New England to play with Brady? I'm sure there are more than a handful of players that wouldn't of stayed in NE without Brady. Belichick had a lot of draft busts and people forget the ty laws, Willie mcginest, bruschi, troy brown and even Adam venateri were all brought in by parcels not Belichick. The year before Belichick got to NE the pats were 9-7, Belichicks first year was 5-11 and started 0-2 before Brady came in. It's not a small sample size , Belichick has had 10 or 11 seasons without Brady and has ONE playoff win. While a coach like Andy Reid made 3-4 conference championships without Mahomes, has quite a few playoff wins before Mahomes. But what was the narrative of Reid before Mahomes ? "Couldn't win the big one, bad clock management at the end of games " and on And on but after 6-7 years with Mahomes he's considered one of the best coaches ever. Players matter more than coaches. A great coach with mediocre players isn't doing squat a mediocre coach with great players had a shot. Just look at Belichick's last 4-5 years in New England. And somehow Pete Carroll with one ring gets a 3rd head coaching job but Belichick with 6 rings can't?
Belichick is no question a great coach. But Brady without Belichick is still a Super Bowl champion, and Belichick without Brady is 18 games under .500 in 10 seasons with only 1 playoff win. Brady-haters can try to explain that away however they want, there's no debate about who was more responsible for the Patriots' success, it was Brady.
No he wasn’t! It was both. Unless you tell me that Brady is responsible for stopping the Greatest Show on turf? Or was Brady responsible for coaching Malcom butler so that he made the pick vs the Seahawks? (Jamieis threw for 30TDs and 30 INTs and still threw for 5k with a record of 7-9. It’s not like they were a bad team. ) They just needed discipline and a leader someone to show them how to win. People like you bring up Bills record w/o Tom. Euh tell me the QBs he had? The only competent QB he had was Drew Bledsoe and he went 11-5. It’s not just Brady nor Bill. It was both!!! It’s such revisionist history to say it was more so Brady. The 1st Pats dynasty of the early 2000’s was defensive driven and Bill always surrounded TB with the right talent at the right time. Not to mention what Bill did to the 2018 Rams in the SB doesn’t get talked about enough.
