21 Gun Salute Concours d'elegance 2023- Exclusive interview with the Maharaja of Baroda State

Throughout its nine-year history, the 21 Gun Salute Concours d’Elegance vintage and classic car rally has been staged at various iconic locations of India, but none would have served a more ideal backdrop than the grounds of the 120-year-old Lukshmi Vilas Palace in Vadodara. Built by the Gaekwad family, a prominent Maratha family who ruled the Baroda State at the time of construction, the historic palace synonymously reflected upon the ethos of the classic and vintage cars stationed upon its humongous grounds. The Cornea Impression interviewed SamarjitSinh Gaekwad, the successor of the Gaekwad family, on the history of the palace, the design ideologies with which it was built, and why the collaboration between the palace and the 21 Gun Salute Concours d’Elegance is a match made in heaven.
