I did my first essay in "English Writing and Critical Thinking about Literature" on this poem. I made some astronomical and meteoroligal observations about wintry New England weather. And then I postulated, jokingly, that the protagonist was stopping at his neighbor's forest to steal a Christmas tree. I made it clear it was an unlikely alternative interpretation. I scored an A on that paper, and an the entire course. Then my professor was arrested for running an illegal pyramid scheme. So much for "critical thinking".
Thanks for the reading. I'd never heard of that poem so just went for wintry words - found loads of them!! Kept signing out and coming back later. Eventually, and I do mean eventually, I solved it with no hints. Phew! 😊
Connections: 💚💙💛💜, no mistakes; pretty straightforward besides purple Mini: 0:45; downs were key today, getting TAMPA and LEGIT immediately helped a ton Strands: Rangsk Perfect!; figured it was a poem and saw “frost” almost immediately along with poem after, then just looked for nature/winter words
One correction: "no longer alive" is PERISH, not PARISH. The only meaning of parish I know of is the religious area or district. And yes, that Strands was crazy hard. These ones where if you are not familiar with the very specific book, poem, movie are just impossible.
Early upload today! When I saw the Strands theme it really threw me off 😂 I guess I’ll end with a joke: One day, toothpick A meets toothpick B on a sidewalk Then, a porcupine darts by After that, toothpick A becomes very angry and says… “Dang! I just missed my bus!”
I wasn't familiar with the poem but I went immediately and looked it up. Short and sweet. I was expecting something quite long like The Raven but that wasn't the case.
Happy to get purple second today, and I managed to do Strands without any hints even though I haven't heard the poem before (took a bit of time but I got there).
Connections: purple was very purpley for me today. Definitely just happened for me, but at least I didn't make any mistakes today Mini: 2:08, a bit rough, did not know the rocks but the others were fine Strands: didn't have to use any hints but I was mainly just guessing similar words and not even attempting at the theme
I recognized the poem name immediately, but I don’t have it memorized. So I figured out that it was words from Frost’s poem, but still needed to just find lots of random words. Managed it with no hints, but only because I tried every word I saw.
Forward rainbow in connections. One mistake - I fell for the angel trap. Mini - How many times have we had "A Team"!!!! Strands was brutal - even if you know the poem (which I don't) I hope they don't do more of "words from a poem/song" Seems a bit unfair to me. I used many hints.
I found the poem easy without taking a hint because it was obvious to find words to do with winter. The Mini I got royally stuck. I *did* get TAMPA right away, but not much else! Had to really think it through by ATEAM got me unstuck. Took me about 6 minutes I guess. I wasn't keeping track of time.
Connections: zero errors💛💙💚💜. Could not work out what purple was. I do think if you were on Only Connect the host would accept "bar food" for green, because bars often do those foods, followed by "and I would know, I spend enough of my life in them". When I did this early EU time (around 8am or so GMT) the lose rate was extremely low so maybe Europeans did have an advantage. Rigatoni in a pub is not so out there. Many gastro-pubs in the UK serve pasta dishes though I wouldn't recommend them. Mini: was 47 seconds. Strands: I had no idea what the poem was, didn't get the reference, and just had to blindly search words. Only needed one hint, though!
Mini took me 2:30!!!! 😂 One mistake in connections putting Romeo Bernie Pizza Rigatoni together (Italian roots?) Strands got the spanagram last but found the words pretty quickly 😂
🟩🟦🟨🟪 I saw Paris and Rome super early, wanted to get purple first and try for the reverse but I didn’t know the other two, so it just happened at the end, otherwise no mistakes!
got purple first today which happens very rarely, I guess being from Europe helped here 😅, and it really seems like they are trying to make yellow harder because it didn't really stick out to me at the first glance for the past three days
Connections: 🟩🟦🟪🟨 This one was really tough for me. Every submission was a "I dunno, I guess... this?" Got *very* lucky to avoid mistakes. Mini: 1:20 Kinda tough today! Only two that were confident lock-ins were ATEAM and CAMEO, and that's just because they very frequently use those clues. Strands: Rangsk Perfect I generally enjoy Robert Frost, and the clue felt very poem-y to me, so I saw the Spangram pretty quick. Finding all the words was mostly luck though.
Did connections in one mistake, fell for the angel trap, then BGPY. Mini on 58 seconds, it's rare that I go sub-1, and strands... we don't talk about strands, ok?
I never thought in a million years that reading that Frost poem in college would help me out in the future 😂😂

Perfect 💚💙💛💜 Mini: 0:47 (thank goodness for the down clues) Strands: Also thought it was a painting at first. Needed to hints. Thanks for the reading!
It really did seem like the title of a painting
Thanks for the poetry read. What a treat!
I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Interesting, I noticed purple right away

then it's a good thing it didn't matter today! Because the meaning of the word did NOT come into play.
Great work Ron!

acaliasian. Well it made me laugh - and groan. 😊
Loved the reading!!! ❤

Yeah I feel like when it was The Raven, more people knew the keywords from that one

I got the same exact game as you today with no mistakes wooooo 😊

I suppose one could always look up the poem/song. And yeah, ATEAM is kind of a write-in given how often they use it
Only poem I still have memorized after all these years!
Rangsk Perfect on Strands because I Iove that poem 😂
Connections - purple yellow green blue; no errors
Strands was easy since I knew it was a Frost poem.

Got purple first today, it did help being from Europe I think I spotted Riga and Rome quickly: (after almost falling for the angel red herring)

It looks like SLEEP in lower right corner has 2 paths to create the word. You can use either E after the L
Perfect on connections, but after getting blue and yellow I struggled to disintangle purple and green, and admittedly got purple mostly on vibe.

Struggled seperating out Blue/ Yellow today. Focusing on Rigatoni gave me purple first.
I've never heard of the poem before, but somehow had all the right words jump out at me so I managed it really quick with only one mistake. :>
Connections surprisingly won for a change. Mini crossword eventually made sense. Strands was something.
never heard of the poem that being said i had too use 5 hints which means i found 15 extra words in the puzzle today

The timing of that dad joke with current events. 😶
Yup. RIP.
There was no 747 involved in any current event. Irrelevant.
PERish means to die - knowing correct spellings is fun!
You need to end each video with a poem now lol. Dad joke at the beginning, poem at the end.

Did you know you have the voice for poetry
Really not a fan of the starts with capital when it’s not consistent how many letters are at the end
You're going to be part of the conspiracy investigation with the 747 joke after todays events
Unfortunately I recorded and published the video before I heard that news.
🟦🟪🟩🟨. No mistakes
