My transistor guitar amp is hissing at every note played, but silence when im not playing anything, can anyone help suggest a solution? This is way too technical for me to understand, thank you
Is the amplifier distortion also called harmonic distortion??
I don't know if it's the same thing. Because it's just a messed up version of the fundamental frequency playing out the output at a higher amplitude, unlike harmonic distortion which are added frequencies to the fundamental frequency. They are different types of distortion. Thats just what I think. I'm having a bit of trouble wrapping my head around this as well.

Can i measure THD with multimeter? I mean, if its distortion, electric noise, so i can see changes on multimeter, right?
