    Watching the new army trucks especially on this sister's, reminds me of the trip too taupo in the winter of 74 as we went around the corner party sideways and we all ended together on the floor in the back of the Bedford J2, ha ha ha ,sadly 2 young cadets were killed earlier, the desert road famous in New Zealand, LEST WE FORGET.

    why do you have so many tires for a little load?! What is the axle load with dual tires in your country?

    • @thfmlymn4498
      @thfmlymn4498 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They're good for 50T (or more) and greatly reduce road damage.

    • @TechRossNZ
      @TechRossNZ 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Maximum axle load rating for a dual tyred axle is 8200kg. Single standard tyred axle is 6000kg & for a single large tyred axle is 7200kg. The trucks with the yellow H tag have permits that allow higher dimensions and/or weights. I don’t know what the maximum weight is but I know some trucks are running up to at least 73000kg. There is a lot of complicated requirements with axle numbers and spacing etc to make it all work, all to try and not destroy the roads.

    • @Holli33
      @Holli33 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@TechRossNZ ahhh....now it all makes sense. That's not a lot of axle load compared to our country (Germany).
      we have at driven axles 11.5 t axle load and single tires 9 t axle load. double tire , non driven axle 10t.
      all right, thanks for the information.

    • @TechRossNZ
      @TechRossNZ 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Holli33 Yeah the quality of your roads are better than ours. We have fairly low grade asphalt roads without the concrete base.

    • @Holli33
      @Holli33 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TechRossNZ our roads are not as good as you think. a lot of money is saved and cheap asphalt is installed.
      I was only wounded by the many wheels on the trucks because of the low load. at the beginning of the video the kenworth 4 axle... very little wood for 4 axles.
      in our country the 4 axle kenworth would be 32 t. technically even 35 t would be possible. the 5 axle trailer would be 9-10 t per axle.
      Yes, our axle loads are higher, but not good for the roads. many truck drivers also overload and risk a lot without getting caught.
      this is the death of many roads and they need to be repaired much more often. more load, more money.
      OK, thank you for the information.

    One way to tell apart Japanese American and European Trucks is their manual transmission for Tractor Trailers. Cab Over Design but with American Crashbox that means you have a Japanese Isuzu Giga UD Quon & Hino 700. made in Australia for New Zealand and Euro emissions version of their US Canada Truck engines while retaining a Crashbox gearbox then you have an American Truck. European Trucks have Synchromesh like an American Freightliner M2 while having a cab over design.

    • @paperboy...8667

      they have more incentive to buy Euro they have, more lolly deals, than the Australian built Kenworths, the Kenworth can't compete ..
      Don't kid yourself tho Australian Built Kenworth is built for N.Z. Australia, environment, an is far Superior to Euro trucks.
      Of course Euro owner will say otherwise...
      They see 750 hp against 600hp, they know jack sh.t about gear ratios an torque, an wonder how the fully loaded Kenworth passed them on a hill.

      @@paperboy...8667 I am from Mexico, the Americans are used here, but now Scania has entered my country, it all depends on the configuration you buy and the weight you carry, you cannot compare trucks like this lightly. But when both trucks carry the same load, the Scania or the European one humiliates the American, it doesn't just happen in Mexico, it happens all over the world, the European brands are the owners of the American brands, a Volvo FH750, with the same load that a Kw of 600hp would destroy the whole kw. You don't really know what transmission that volvo you name was using or what transmission the Kw used.

      It's in the specs when you buy one.

      LOLLY Deals that have you eyes on stalks, for yrs ...
