Want the storage boxes? They are the smaller ‘stack and carry’ storage boxes by Sterilite. Target sells a 2 pack online and in store. About $5.99. www.target.com/p/sterilite-stack-38-carry-2-tray-handle-box-organizer/-/A-75573674#lnk=sametab

I'm glad I found your video I loved it! I'm teaching a friend how to crosstitch. I've been crossting since I was probably 18 or 19 years old. And now I'm 50, and I'm teaching my friend who stresses over not working on her projects that I'm showing her how to do. One of the first things I told her was this is not something you ever have to rush on. Take your time even if a small project takes you a year to complete. Was nice to hear someone else say that they take their time as well. I love your organization ideas! They are fsbulous! I am only now finally getting into creating and soon to be selling absolute beginner projects for people like my friend who get overwhelmed easy on this stuff. Thank you for mak8ng your videos. I found you 2 years after mak8ng them, but going to be bingwatching your videos today. New subscriber.❤

I store my floss in bags in a large tote. One thing that has really helped me is a divider for the floss numbers. 200, 300 etc. I used old file folders cut to size and I have the outside of my box labeled with the range of numbers inside each box. I love the shelf liner ideaà

So organized! I figured out pretty quick after ruining a few wip chart pages to use portfolios. I don't use vinyl to see the pattern but will probably add a small tag with the project name. I keep all my floss organized by number in a floss box and one of my projects is so big, It required it's own box. So once I'm done with that project I'll reuse it for another large project. I for some silly reason never thought to organize my Aida. Which seems silly now tbay I think about it. So now I have to go back and label all my leftover Aida. Haha. Thanks for the tips. Really helpful.

I've been trying to decide how to improve on my floss storage and will be trying your method. I use a larger size of those same type of stack boxes for quilt supplies and have a few smaller ones for Christmas decorations (thanks for posting the Target link to the size you use) and have Flossaway bags that I've rarely used so think I could make this work! Also great tip on the shelf liner in the bottom.
I use the simple zipper project bags and love them. Since I am primarily a quilter, I have tried to resist the lure of making the pretty fabric ones. However, I've recently caved and have plans to make two that incorporate stitch projects in the back of them. Let's hope I can keep it to that, LOL!!

I prefer using floss drops. I’m not one that likes bobbins any longer. I couldn’t stand the floss being ‘crimped’. After I started using floss drops, I found it easier to pull one floss thread instead of cutting a six strand and then separating to get one strand off. Then you have to re-wind on the bobbin. I will eventually put both my complete sets of DMC onto floss drops.

Dye lots can vary very noticeably when you don’t keep the same skeins with the same project. Hence, I always the kitted and started fabric together. NYou’d be surprised at how much a shade can change over dye lots and years. Trust me…after 50 years of stitching, I learned the hard way a long, long time ago. P.S. This is one of my “Never break” rules!

Fantastic Floss tube!! So glad I found your channel. I, too, absolutely love stitching with Cosmo and finally broke down and bought a Cosmo Thread "book" to help me find colors when the designs call for DMC. I still need to find other online stores to find the Cosmo thread since 1) I don't have any Needlework/Cross Stitch shops in my area any more and big box stores don't carry it, and 2) the online shop I get most of my cross stitch supplies from doesn't carry all the colors. Any suggestions would help!!!! Thanks again for a great video!!!

I find cosmo fabric online at Fat Quarter Shop, they also have a little cosmo floss. 123Stitch online has LOTS of cosmo floss. They don’t have the fabric. Those are my main online sources for it. Then I was lucky to find a new to me quilt shop about 15 minutes from me that actually stocks cosmo floss! Nothing else cross stitch related in the store so it’s odd but I don’t look a gift horse in the mouth. But for online: FQS for fabric and 123Stitch for floss. 👍

Question - Hello, I really like your examples of organization. Curious though, Why don't you use the pre cut plastic floss cards. The ones that look like little spools of thread. It seems alot of stitchers are going the plastic bag type of organization. I just can't find that perfect organization for me because there are so many ideas. Also, how are you Labeling your bags. Which is most economical if you're on a very tight budget. Thank you for sharing your tips and thoughts. Happy stitching 🙂

I have been searching for a good clip on light and magnifying tool. Is your little Ott Light the one they have advertised for use with a sewing machine? They have so many lights to choose from and it’s confusing! 😵‍💫 I want it small but powerful. Also did your light come with a magnifier?
I have a large floor stand Ott light and it’s cumbersome to say the least. Also, we travel so having a small good light/magnifying to clip on would be great!

Where did you get the little plastic container Dr for your scissors, seam ripper, etc.

Thanks so much for all of this helpful information. I don't know if you've covered this topic yet, but do you have any hints about fabric care? When I finish a project, I steam the whole thing to smooth it out, but I'm afraid that is a bad idea. Is pressing better/safer?

There is a pressing mat by Yarn Tree just for cross stitch and embroidered work. It’s a thin foam type stuff. It supposed to be really good. I don’t have it but have thought about getting one. I use a dry iron on the wrong side if I need to press. Most floss brands I use are color fast but some over dyed or fancy floss will bleed so I’ve just made it a rule of thumb to not use steam for myself. In the end, if it works for you, then it’s a good way. I also use qsnap rather than hoops and don’t get those deep round ‘wrinkles’ so it’s easy for me to iron. Perhaps other will comment and we will see what they use for set in wrinkles.

Question - you store your off season fabric in a bag but what do you do with the pattern? I would be tempted to include the pattern with the fabric. Makes sense not to have the floss stored there; I don't know HOW many duplicates I have at the moment!! ;-)

I keep the pattern in my pattern storage bin. I find that I can more easily access it in a moment to see if I have it (so I don’t buy duplicates), check any info about it if someone asks, and to flip through when changing out my wips to see what I want to work on.

Solution: When you get a whole bunch of the same color….you find a monotone sampler and use it all up.

Do you make your own project bags or purchase them? I love them! I would like to order some!

I have actually only made one project bag. I bought them from various vendors on Etsy. Just type ‘project bag’ on the etsy search and tons come up. Some are reasonable for the cost of the fabric and time to sew and some are expensive. I consider that two different lengths of fabric at about 16” each is close to a yard ($10-11), a zipper ($3-7, depending on quality), and batting (maybe $3 or less) costs $16-21 to make.. I keep that in mind when I’m buying. And the vinyl costs a little as well.

@@SimplyThirdStreet Thanks! I didn't think of looking on Etsy. I know materials and printing are all so expensive these days. I love your videos! Just discovered them recently. Thanks again!
