I have stopped the Michigan every time someone tried it. The reason is that I am 63 and my hips will no longer allow me to stay down and push across the crease. So I reverted to the old school style of going post to post while standing and they pretty much shove the puck right into my chest. Same thing on guys coming in from a sharp angle. My son is 23 and he victimizes goalies all the time with bar-down short side goals, but says, “I can’t get that one on you because you play it weird.”
OK, I'm posting this directly after you saying they did it in the nhl and watching the nhl version.... First time I saw this was in 1993 by a 6 foot tall "chunky" 14 year old in a inline hockey game I was refereeing. The first time I ever picked up a hockey stick was just a year before at 30 years old after winning indoor speedskating nationals. This is no lie. Roller or "inline hockey" was the rage in california which grew ice hockey dramatically. I Could not believe it when I saw it and well, that kid taught me. Of course my version was dramatically different. I'm a righty, I write right handed, but tried a right stick and it felt stupid so I'm a lefty hockey player. After a few adult hockey seasons, I found myself on adult teams with legit semipro ice hockey players because there was A nobody faster than me on a rink, and B, I worked for Labeda and had the wheels, and frames hook up nobody had...lol My version of a michigan, and trust me, I've received many a tree chopping slash because of one, is what I call a leftys wrap arround. left turns are the most natural, even in hockey..... I don't lift the puck up like Ice guys, turning left around the net with speed I roll the puck from heel to tow and its on the stick. at that point its a michigan. I have never, and I mean never missed other than once or twice if nobody hits me. Its too fast. On ice, its different. Standing behind the net, tougher, also tougher when people don't let you skate behind the net unmolested. I had a code. Never try a michigan, unless I'm losing, and only do it against people I know, or hate...lol I have never celibrated a goal, its weird to me, I get doing it in the NHL, its part of the hype. In most hockey, its embarrassing. So When I did it in the last 10 years, it was on a old man team playing against 25 year olds so nobody had the balls to hit me. Whenever someone shit talked me I'd just remind them I'm in handicapped parking... Anyway, so far, I like the vid. I call it the Aaron Hammer in memory of that 14 year old kid who did it long before the michigan. He passed away a few years back. PS I'm 60 so no more "Hammers" for me :)
As a goalie, I have let in the lacrosse goal, and it felt terrible. Coach for some reason pulled me, and I said wtf am I supposed to do. Guess this video is what to do lol.
So since most goalies are trying to block the michigan with a blocker due to the fact that most players are lefty, (if the goalie has his shoulder on that side of the cross bar I usually don't attempt it) Its tough to get the blocker up there but if they reach across with the blocker, I just put the puck 5hole. If I'm feeling it and he slides his whole body across I can michigan across his body opposite side. The only way to consistently stop a player who can do a michigan well is to take a penalty of have a reasonably good defensive team helping you.
Im new to goalie (3 months) and during a pickup game someone tried to michigan me and i stopped it by punching his stick with the blocker, so it’s possible to stop :)

As a goalie, I have let in the lacrosse goal, and it felt terrible. Coach for some reason pulled me, and I said wtf am I supposed to do. Guess this video is what to do lol.
In my opinion, the best thing to do is to RVH as soon as you see the player start scooping up the puck
@@sicksaves_all_day5923 Yea, for sure.
U do a swing around poke check when u see someone coming from behind net
I stopped one last year. Just stuck my glove up. One of my best games, we lost 2-0, but I had 38 saves
The
Hyperlites and the jersey look fire

Hi kvg
I am on the jr preds team that the 10 year old kid scored on me I was on the ice number 77
When i'm trying to stop the Michigan I stand up
Bruh you have revealed the secret now we gotta find some other move to do
You are the most handsome beer league goalie I’ve ever seen!! 😍
Wait that's the rink I play on
you sure you got it
The most impressive one was by the 10 year old because he did it while moving. Most of the other guys were camped out behind the net not moving.
I know Mike Legg
Just stand up
Do how to stop “Patel barbor”

Get off your knees and stand up. Easy. Goalies today spend more time on knees then a Saturday night hooked.. lol
nah man less butterlies, more old school goaltending. this move exist because goalies drop on their knees everytime they don't have to ;)

Stroking pole
I’m a goalie younger than you and I stop Michigan’s everyday (not trying to be rude)
Maybe it has something to do with the way you play.
just don’t go down. Stand up and cover the corners.
What about rap arounds??
DELET THIS
GO BLUE
HAIL TO THE VICTORS
How do you stop a “Michigan”?
Have your defenseman do a “Scott Stevens” or goalie do a “Billy Smith” or “Ron Hextall”!………
Do you by chance own a “make hockey violent again” t-shirt?
@@KaneVanGate38
No! But I do own a “Keep hockey hockey and not lacrosse” shirt!
I can’t believe this is a thing now haha
