This week, Newslaundry’s Abhinandan Sekhri, Shardool Katyayan and Jayashree Arunachalam are joined by Jagdeep Chhokar, founder and member of the Association for Democratic Reforms.
On electoral bonds, Jagdeep says the exercise of matching the bonds data can never be conclusive, but “we should remember that the window between a bond being purchased and it being redeemed is 15 days”.
The panel then discusses the BJP’s second list of candidates for the Lok Sabha polls. Abhinandan asks if the party is trying to change its image by dropping names of sitting MPs with a history of hate speech. Jayashree says it is fielding new faces only to strengthen the central leadership’s grip on state units.
On the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act, Shardool says the law is “practically useless”. He explains that the naturalisation process requires 11 years of residency in the country, whereas the deadline for granting citizenship under the CAA is December 2014, and the law is being notified almost after a decade.

What if SBI give us a plan list of electoral Bond without the name of original purchases of that electoral Bond then in that scenario how will we find, who have donated whom in that case,
We want electoral bond number at least with the date on which it was issued, ,
Than we can match it with the donare who donated & the party who received it

How to make elections in India cheap? Bring in a law that only those candidates who are contesting in any constituency can hold rallies in their constituency and anyone who is contesting elsewhere cannot participate in the rallies and meetings outside his constituency! This will limit the fight among the candidates only and all fancy rallies will vanish! And no sitting ministers would be allowed to canvass for any other candidate!
How are the MLAs and MPs elected in this manner supposed to elect the Prime Minister? On what basis?

To my mind there are three categories of doners.
1. Straight doners. Buy electoral bonds and donate to political party of your choice.
2. Shell Companies. Dummy companies who buy electoral bonds and sell them to entities who want to donate them to political parties. Both the leg, buying and selling, is in white, accounted money. These shell companies may not sell the bonds if they are part of the same group as the entities that actually want to donate the money. Such shell companies may just buy the bond using their own white money and donate on behalf of their group company without the bonds changing hands between them.
3. Money launderers. Entities that take cash from another entity, launder it and convert it into accounted money, but bonds and donate directly to the political party of the choice of the entity that gave cash.
In the third case, the bond does not change hands before it is donated to the political party. The real doner (one who puts money on the table) is completely protected since he gives cash to the money launderer and stays completely out of the picture. I suspect Future Gaming was the third type of doner.

How come a regional Party like TMC get 1600 crores from Electoral Bonds with just 1 state govt ? BJP being a National Party with over 12 states received just 6000cr ...this equation is strange. BJP should have received over 20k crores considering TMC received 1600cr 😂
