    Drove up to Bill Moore for an overnight this past summer in my stock, manual, '14 Tacoma with A/T's. Got to the top and a bone stock first-gen ford ranger comes rolling up like its nothing! The bottom half of the trail was much more rutted out than when this was filmed. Took a couple attempts to make it up the steep right-hand switch back at the 8:45 mark. Took the high clearance route to the left on the way up, definitely sketch but not too terrible, opted for the easier way around coming down. Just like you said at the end, the whoops at the start are the perfect gate keeper, the most challenging of line choice on the whole trail by far.

    Nice video. This is one of my favorite trails to take the family on an alpine lake picnic. At the 9:00 mark of your video you will see a rocky trail to your left. That is the most fun part of the trail and it also bypasses that 3 point turn. You might want to try that route next time you are up there. It's probably the hardest part of the trail, but still not very difficult. Your Rubi should be fine if you disconnect and take a good line. Depending on how much ground clearance you have, you may scrape a little though, but hey, that's why God made skidplates!

      Usually we go up Red Elephant Hill and come down Bill Moore Lake Road, but I will certainly look up that section as the Jeep is a bit more built now than when this video was done.

    Think a 1st gen sequoia with 4lo, center diff lock, and good tires can make it up?

      The FCC announced they will be reducing it to $35 but they haven’t implemented it yet

    I'm taking my sxs and the family up in that area for our first time im a couple weeks and I'm curious if most these trails on your page have loops or if they are straight through? My dilemma being that I will have to park my tow vehicle at the trail head and will need to return to that spot. Is it common for most the trails to have a loop option?

    • @TrailTraveler
      @TrailTraveler  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You really need to look at each trail as some are point to point, some are loops, and some are out and backs. I suggest joining trailsoffroad.com as well as using their mobile app. That will give you all the info you need.

    Is camping allowed up there ? I've been up there a few times but have never seen any camping spots .

    • @TrailTraveler

      There are very, very few campsites. In fact I only know of one off the top of my head

    Would a stock 2018 Tacoma Trd off road be fine on that trail

    • @TrailTraveler
      @TrailTraveler  ปีที่แล้ว

      You would have to be pretty careful at the beginning and pick good lines and then no problem after that

    I know you followed your buddy. But according to On-X app it's a 7 difficulty. Did you follow the trail hey recommend or is there a route you could recommend?

    • @TrailTraveler
      @TrailTraveler  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s a mid moderate when it’s dry and impassable in the snow. Stick to the trail and you will be fine.

    I know it’s been a while since you uploaded this video, but hopefully I can hear back before Sunday (6/5/2022)! I am newish to the 4x4 scene and am going up with a Cherokee Trailhawk with all the off-road specs, but 8.7” of ground clearance. I heard this trail is good for a novice like me, in your experience doing it, do you think I can get it?

    • @TrailTraveler
      @TrailTraveler  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You won't make it far right now due to snow. Its probably at least a few weeks away from being doable if there is no more snowfall. I would suggest other trails right now like Bunce School Road, Yankee Hill, Balanced Rock, or the gulches down by Woodland Park.

    Newer, stock Grand Cherokee with all terrain tires? Looks like I could make it going slow enough.

    • @TrailTraveler
      @TrailTraveler  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      In good conditions, it should be pretty doable. This time of year, you won't make it much past the parking lot

  • @RyanTanton
    @RyanTanton 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    You didn't make it all the way to the lake?

    • @TrailTraveler

    Do you think that a TRD Off-Road 4Runner would be able to make this trail okay?

  • @alty6ser
    @alty6ser 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Did you air down for this one?

  • @alty6ser
    @alty6ser 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why not 4 high??

    • @TrailTraveler
      @TrailTraveler  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because 4lo is a lower gear that will give more torque at the expense of having less top speed
