I read over the spell. It doesn’t require an initial saving throw. It just happens 😭 so they couldn’t use a legendary resistance even if it wanted to lol
@@sanchez.25 That's absolutely false. Casting Irresistible Dance prompts a Wisdom Save from the target, per the spell description. Matt should have used a legendary resistance. Read correctly next time.

He makes the cast feel complete. Which is weird as I never thought they were missing anything before, yet he fits in so well that I fully believe they’ll feel incomplete without him in the future.
@lindseysharon259 I find it interesting how the man that in Guilty Gear, plays the guy who knows too much and is the reason everything is how it is, but I find it fun to see one of my favorite fighting game character's voice actor be in something else I enjoy: DnD
@@sparksjedi0694Looking into all their voice acting careers yields some pretty fun results. My personal favorite is Laura and Travis in Full Metal Alchemist. I won't go into what it is because of spoilers, but realizing that a married couple voiced those two specific characters is kind of amazing.
Man, if I hard a nickel for every time a bard on Critical Role used magic to force an incredibly powerful outerworld entity to riverdance, I'd have two nickels! Which isn't a lot, but it's weird it happened twice!
Matt and the players didn't realize this, and I don't blame them because it's so unusual for a spell in 5e, but there _isn't_ an initial save for _Irresistible Dance._ Hence, "Irresistible". The target just starts dancing.
I'd probably forgive Robbie on this one. It's probably stressful keeping that one on track as a (technically) new player and being in his first liveshow 😅
This was such a spoiler as I'm still massively behind on episodes, but it was so worth it. I love Dorian as a character and Robbie is adorable as player on the table. If we get a new campaign after this one, I actually hope he is able to be a permanent member. Which is incredible difficult with schedules, but he is such a joy to watch.
I think besides Exu: Calamity, this may be the best thing they've done. This is definitely my favorite live show with Marisha's Beau being eaten and buried as the second favorite. Because that "Please don't kill me at a live show!!!" followed by "and then he burrows into the ground." Is just.....perfect.

DC = 8 + spell level (6) + casting modifier (apparently only +2) meaning either a 14 or a 15 in his casting skill. Don’t you need your skill to be a high enough level to cast, I.e. 16 to cast 6th level spells? Or am I missing something/conflating my more extensive 3.5 knowledge with 5e?
Yeah nah I think you're mixing it up with something else. 5e spell save DC is just 8 + proficiency + spell casting modifier (charisma in this case), and spell levels are tied purely to class level (i.e. full casters get 6th level spell slots at level 11)
Yeah you are wrong. As others said it is 8+ PB + spellcasting ability mod. For Bards, Paladins, Sorcerers, and Warlocks it is Charisma. So at level 13 it would be 8 + PB (5) + Charisma Mod (16, so 3), so 16. To Counterspell or Dispel Magic (both 3rd level spell), automatically stop spells of an equal or lesser level. If you try to stop a higher level spell (say a 5th level spell) the DC is the level of the spell + 10. The player roles an ability check (D20) and adds their spell mod. You can always up cast Counterspell and Dispel Magic at a higher slot if you have them.
@@TinW00dsmanInOz how would that be broken??? Having a negative modifier for your main casting stat would be shooting yourself in the foot with a freaking Mossberg 500, especially when your high enough level to cast 9th spells, all your spell attacks and spell DCs would be abysmal, you would miss attacks all the time and every enemy would succeed your spell saves. Granted, most 9th levels spells don't require either of those, but for the few that does, like Meteor Swarm and Blade of Disaster, it would be disastrous. So no, it would not be broken, it would be absolutely asinine to have a caster with negative modifiers as a casting stat, 9th level spells be damned.

That save roll isn't rolled until the targets turn in the initiative. They dance until their turn. Not even a Legendary Save can get around that!
Yeah, absolutely correct. Made for a very cool moment, though. Sometimes the best situations arise from mistakes.
And on top of that, actually being able to roll that save takes an action on your turn. That's why the spell is 6th level.
In the nine year history of Critical Role, no one has ever actually read a spell and they ain't gonna start now :P
