Whether you agree or disagree with this list this person did a great job with transitions and putting all this together. Go show them some love with the original video th-cam.com/video/n55NI2VuaYA/w-d-xo.html
If One Republic is not in this top, then it is not a top anymore (But I am so glad that my favorite song IRIS is there. And Richard Marx-Hazard is not there, peeeeeally 😔
These results kinda make sense on streaming numbers. Lot of 2000s where streaming was getting its uptick, a lot of people who use streaming probably arent binging the classics, but still putting them on enough to hit big numbers. And noticeably a good amount of top 50 are trending songs from the past 20 years, especially with pop rock factored in.
I mean that was her most "rock-like" song. Everything else is pure pop and a few years ago she was extremely big and was on the trajectory of approaching almost Billie Eilish type of fame + she had a huge head start due to Disney. Was not surprising at all to me. My bigger problem was them including bunch of Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga songs. At least that Rodrigo song didn't feel THAT out of place because it has some of the pop rock angst vibe. I got into rock listening something similar which then got me into "emo rock", Three Days Grace 🤣and so on. I never taught about being in a mood to try some rock songs after listening to Lady Gaga or non stop hearing Bruno Mars on the radio though lol
If you count Sweater Weather by The Neighborhood a rock song (some might consider it indie rock) it would be the most popular rock song with over 3 billion streams. It's wild since I'm not exactly sure why it has so many streams
it was huge in the radio back in 2012-2013 and then had a huge TikTok, Insta resurgence, now The Neighbourhood is more popular than ever, and I would say it’s indie rock
I wonder how accurate this list is since it's used rateyourmusic as a reference point. I thought it was weird that there wasn't a single Elvis song here so I looked it up and Can't Help Falling in Love is over 1 billion streams, but it's listed as Traditional Pop so it wasn't included.
As a metal head who is into extreme shit black metal and death metal who grew up in the 90s sometimes you need that pallet cleanser so u find something that takes you back and rock out or dance like fuck
No offence but can you actually define rock as a genre, especially over a period as long as "all time"? And can you then define pop as a genre different from rock so that no songs are ever either pop or rock, but never both? It's a task that's genuinely impossible. I can agree that some of these are questionable inclusions (I consider Believer by Imagine Dragons to be more of a rock song than either of the Bruno Mars songs on this list, and that song has half a billion more streams that Coldplay's Yellow, for example), but I would definitely consider some of Olivia Rodrigo's pop rock songs to be valid in this list and others here disagree with that as well. I guess what I'm trying to say is that it's pure insanity to try and find a satisfying definition for rock and pop that everyone can agree with. Too conservative and you'll have people saying that their favorite tracks aren't included, too lenient and you'll have people saying that their most despised tracks suddenly feature on a list of their beloved genre. Especially considering that rock music WAS pop music for a good amount of time. The pop music my parents grew up with was rock. Try to untangle that mess and I promise you you'll go mad.
Hey, we'd love to see you play our Metal Higher or Lower game in your next video and see if you can beat Nik Noctural's latest high score :D Challenge accepted?
hate it when u say "what the hell was that.." on 5sos - youngblood. i mean yes the are in a 1 billion streams and yes they are pop/rock band, and i guess u never heard of them that is why u said that....... but they are real artists
I have absolute no issues with Olivia Rodrigo. She is very likeable and makes decent music for young people who love pop, but the fact that she occupied rank 12 on that list and especially the fact that she topped Smells Like Teen Spirit just doesn't sit right. Sorry.
2 thoughts. 1) Coldplay laughing their way all the way to the BANK at their haters. 2) I guarantee Fleetwood Mac was as high as it was due to that viral skateboarding meme
it goes by # of listens, not elitist opinions. i dont like half the stuff in there, but if that's what people listen to the most towards the end of 2024, then all people can do is change this for 2025 by playing other songs more.
@@UltimateGamerCC I like Locked out of heaven but where there is any kind of rock in it ? In song with Lady Gaga for sure, but not the first one. Doing list with "sort by numbers" is not the best sort of making list. You could put Gangham style there, same effect.
We've come to a year that when we speak about rock music, the general audience will think of music that has real instruments. Not kidding. Coldplay is not even fucking close to being rock.
Not really any real metal in the list at all, way more popppy stuff however, seems the trend in many lists, we just put pop songs in, no matter the list purpose and title..lol

Who gets in the car turn on the radio and thinks, you know i need to listen to this at home
My daughter loves Olivia rodrigo and I've warmed up to her but it being right after teen spirit was annoying

Olivia rules. I dont know what it is with some of these new pop stars. But they rule. Along with Sabrina and a few others.
I am surpriced that Led Zeppelin stairway to hevan is that low, I expected it to be in the top 15 at least.
I also expected Sweet Child of Mine to be in the top 10

Even though some of these songs weren’t rock. There was many bangers though! 🤌🏻
honestly, i'm surprised... while i dont love some of the songs, it's pretty damn diverse, even having some current representation.

Ok. So by #120 I realized I gotta stop figuring out why these amazing songs are so low on the list. Just gonna enjoy music 😅
So basically anything with guitars and drums is considered “rock”

I mean basically
@@cvbattum No, it's pretty easy to define what is Rock and what is not, specially if you've listened to it a lot

Heading into the top 10 I am questioning everything I know about humans and rock music and Spotify
This sounds like one of those infomercials that would come on at ass o'clock 😄
Had no idea artic monkeys was that popular. I am so out of touch! I also thought blinding lights would be #1 but not rock i guess?!?!?!

Coldplay probably gets a bad rep because clocks is a rip off of another song, but I don't remember which song and can't be bothered to look it up.
Dude they had like 5 songs here, including two in the top 10 lol hate or not they’re laughing their way to the bank
2 thoughts. 1) Coldplay laughing their way all the way to the BANK at their haters. 2) I guarantee Fleetwood Mac was as high as it was due to that viral skateboarding meme
I hate Coldplay.
They stole bmth sanpiternal album cover
I honestly can't recognize any Arctic Monkeys songs on their own.
What the actual.... we need another list with 150 best rock/metal songs cause this is rubbish 😅
Top 10 where 7 of this songs shouldnt even be there 😂
it goes by # of listens, not elitist opinions. i dont like half the stuff in there, but if that's what people listen to the most towards the end of 2024, then all people can do is change this for 2025 by playing other songs more.

15:02 nirvana the era where Metal and heavy music died unfortunately
Etonnante cette liste 🤔
I am extremely, exTREMELY upset with the top 10. Like wtf was that! 😂
We've come to a year that when we speak about rock music, the general audience will think of music that has real instruments. Not kidding. Coldplay is not even fucking close to being rock.
so many incredible bangers but this is not my representation of "rock/ metal" 😅
I think Red Hot Chili Peppers is the best band in my opinion
Coldplay??? Chris Martin is a lovely guy, but no. Way too much Coldplay on the list. And Footloose, who is listening to this now?
Not really any real metal in the list at all, way more popppy stuff however, seems the trend in many lists, we just put pop songs in, no matter the list purpose and title..lol
I'm so surprised Evanescence wasn't there. I figured it'd be top 20.
Number 66
Shit list
🤢
