Good video in Procreate animation assist. Older version but excellent walkthrough. Especially as prep for learning Procreate Dreams. Concepts covered: Keyframes, frames, in-betweens, layers, drawing on layers, applying effects, timing
Outstanding and thorough introduction. Simple but incredibly useful, and with some seriously inventive THINKING about grouping layers, it’s potentially unlimited. It’s not as sophisticated as a full blown animation program, but simplicity is a beautiful thing. Procreate animations are going to be a thing, for sure! Thanks.
I am working with it now, and am wondering, is there some possible way to edit the background and foreground as the animation plays? For example, I want to animate a zoom effect while my main animation plays, or a camera movement in 3D space, so the background and foreground would have to change over the animation to give the zoom effect. Or would the background and foreground have to be static and unchanging throughout the entire animation? I hope that is clear lol. Thank you!

Great tutorial, thanks. I just bought the app and so disappointed that for each frame have to click on the create layer button. so for 200 hit layers 200 times is an absolute waste of time and it will kill my hand

DooDoo JuJu although I agree that it’s very unhelpful and frustrating, you *can* use groups to group the layers and it counts it as one. Maybe in future versions they’ll have an animation studio mode as opposed to a plain onion skin setting. I’m sure they’ll clean it up in the next few updates!

i feel like you should be able customize the colors of the onion skins, bc some people are red-green color blind and they’d be a little bit mixed up

DooDoo JuJu actually, you can! You can group layers together in folders to make it count as one layer, or at least that’s what I’ve heard.
