You can't compare problems of one with those of another. You talk about money, but money doesn't buy love and love is what makes the world go round. Plus, to have famous parents while being socially awkward yourself will only make you less and less confident about yourself. Yet atst it gave him a sense of superiority which isn't a good emotion either because it's the other side of inferiority. His emotions therefore went all over the place. And you mention his parents but who says his parents gave him attention or love? It doesn't look like anyone ever told him that if girls don't talk to you, it might mean they are in love with you. The $1000 a month can also be felt like buying your love. Sometimes all people need is a little bit of attention and love. People in the west for example claim that Africa is a poor country but I think the west is poor. When I see videos of Africa I see people dancing and having friends and surrounded by nature often and when I see videos of the west it's often betrayal, racism, people claiming "go away, this is my country" or superficial "beauty" videos. People who think it's an advantage to get $1000 a month are probably rich theirselves, just a little bit less.

Brought up in a material world thinking you are gonna win the lottery or you're rich and deserve it, is not how the world works. I wonder do his parents share your view? We will never know..

I went to the same high schools with him. He used to hangout by where my group used to.
    I have a few corrections:
    1. Elliot had Asperger’s. Our principal made it a point to tell my group of friends so we could try to include him.
    2. He changed schools(1st time around) bc in like the first few days he froze in the cafeteria for almost the WHOLE day before anyone really noticed. He just stood there with his eyes all big hugging his backpack for dear life.
    3. People didn’t bully him. People didn’t even notice him bc he NEVER spoke. Like ever. Even to the teachers. He would barely make eye contact. If you were a women/girl, the chances were even less.
    4. He was SUPER into WoW. He would kill people in the game and camp over their bodies. He thought it was funny to watch them look for their stuff.
    5. His mom was nice and pretty hands on.
After high school and this happened we were all so shocked. We didn’t know just how much he hated us.

@@ayahgrig9218 I think the same things as you. A lot of these people who grow up to be killers had a childhood void of emotional support from their parents. It's funny how you can grow up rich and still be a mess of a person with bad character. There is no monetary replacement for a good set of parents to follow and provide structure for your life and emotional support -- telling your kids that having these feelings is ok but at some point you have to find out why you have these feelings and deal with them in a positive way. It's ok to feel jealous. It's ok to have "bad" thoughts but it is definitely not ok to act on them.

A reminder to us parents… guide, love, give quality time, help them to make friends and let us be a good example to our kids. Don’t let money do the parenting. Let us be responsible because aside from raising a child, our child is our contribution to society… how we raise them will affect the people around them. Be there, answer their questions and ask them “how are you?”. Find happiness on becoming a responsible parent not selfish for own happiness.
Sad to see this video… but these makes me appreciate the less fortunate kids (financially) but love their life. Humbled and appreciative of the time they have in this world. Peace is the real source of happiness. Prayers for everyone.

Some psychopaths learn to navigate and fake empathy, mimick emotions and all that, but they are always psychopaths. Interestingly, a high number of CEOs and higher ups in corporations are legit psychopaths, it takes someone with no empathy or that can deny their empathy and humanity to reach those positions. I imagine his parents didn't really help the situation much, they just threw money at him. Maybe they did, but who his father was makes it unlikely.

I truly believe that everyone on this earth has commonality in their struggles. But to me, the people who let adversity, in whatever form, become an excuse to indulge violence are trash. Being mad at the world never gives you the right to take it out on innocent beautiful lives. We've all struggled and we all have to find ways to mitigate that struggle, but there's a BIG turning point for those who choose violence as their answer, and they are always wrong. For those out there who believe life is totally against them,PLEASE try and speak to someone, ANYONE. If that doesn't work and your reasoning is killing others, PLEASE start with yourself.
Im so sorry to put it so bluntly. I Personally am there for Anyone whose going through inner turmoil and hell,if someone isnt willing or isn't able to interact, gaining infamy by hurting others is definitely not the way and I hope narcissistic people can somehow see that.

      @joergmaass 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +18

That exactly was his problem: He knew they didn't know he was even around. Every young man wants to make a place for himself in the world, he wants to be respected and he wants to have friends and a woman to spend his life with. When that doesn't work out, he starts looking for reasons. What he doesn't look for, out of the societal conditioning that men don't show weakness, is help and support. And don't forget that adolescents can be very cruel to anybody who doesn't conform to their social norms. That mixture, combined with his selective mutism and his inability and lack of opportunity to communicate, let him to seek guilt and the reason for his situation in others and ultimately resulted in the tragedy that unfolded. The world can be very cruel to young men indeed, and sometimes it turns them into monsters. What can we do about it? Firstly, we need more help for young men, BY MEN. No young man, especially in a similar situation, is going to trust a woman, and he probably has a lot of valid reasons to not do so (female cruelty). Secondly, Society needs to become less competitive and fixated on money as the only reason and measure for success, and that can only be achieved by lessening the contrast between rich and poor. Thirdly, we need to regulate the access to weapons. They are just tools, but they are meant and built to kill, and that is what they are being used for.

You're forgetting the reason why he has a deep hatred towards women was because if you didn't listen to the documentary. He was bullied brutally when he was young by a group of girls and it only got worse when they rejected or bullied him continously throughout his life. Some kids brush it off, others hold a grudge. Again this is no excuse to have the thought process of what he has but still for someone mentally broken as him, it makes sense. Same like how depression for me doesn't make sense and is a western concept of weakness but here we are. What you met was a normal guy who hated women. Full stop. Elliot obtained hatred from past trauma. It has nothing to do with your "nice guys" and your assumption of "He was one of those guys".
Edit: 36 and single, that would explain you more than the people you meet. And if you've been in many relationships and had problems constantly, it's your choice in men. So all I'm seeing is "I'm 36 and a sleezebag". Commitment has nothing to do with it, you can easily walk into a bar, club, establishment and flirt with the ugliest-most average guy there and there's a good chance they might be the perfect husband despite what they look like. Men have it harder, it's already proven. Women, no matter how ugly, obese, disease ridden, they can always find a partner. And I mean always. Men have to have a status, a certain attractiveness, a certain income to even be considered an option by even the most average looking woman. So the statement "Single women or women in general have high standards" is mostly true.

It is never an excuse, but parental abuse, rejection, abandonment and neglect are enormously traumatizing to any child, and can result in the type of condition, and subsequent destructive rage, Elliot had. It’s a horrible, immensely sad story that should have been prevented. The fact that his parents weren’t aware of what was brewing until way too late, says it all in terms of their failure, because that lack of interest and engagement was apparently their modus operandi. Elliott is fully responsible, but his parents are heavily complicit.

The thing is, they can contain themselves, until they can't and then they either snap and commit horrible crimes or they fall into a blithering mess. I'm the odd one out and I'm always alone.

First of all, don’t blame yourself… we are like we are. Some people get lucky, born in the right place, the right time, being blessed, others don’t. It could look unfair, but unfortunately a lot of things in life are unfair. But it’s not an end. Being a virgin at 22 y/o isn’t the end of the world contrary to what people say. There’s a lot of people in that situation, also a lot of people are saving themselves for the right person and to only have sex once married. I know, it sounds like a very unpopular thing these days, but a lot of women would actually prefer that too. You only have to find the right one… and it will happen when you’re not focusing on that. Instead, just focus on trying to improve your social anxiety, not to find a woman, not to get more money, but to be more at peace with yourself and the society. It’s never easy to fit in… Maybe try to talk to someone, it could be a friend, or a complete stranger (shrink maybe?), it might help to find a way to counter your anxiety and get a better life, being able to talk more easily to others, and then your life will improve, maybe get a better job, more opportunities to meet new people and hopefully meet your future wife. You’re only 22 y/o, you’re still young… trust me, I’m near 50, there’s plenty to live. Don’t blame anyone, not even yourself, just confront your anxiety and find a way to surmount them. Get some help if you cannot find a way… there’s no shame to ask for help. Mental illness is serious, regardless if we have phobies, anxiety, depression, or else. It happens. Every single human on earth will face some kind of mental illness, at least once in his/her lifetime. Sometimes we find a way to solve the problem by ourselves and it’s gone… and sometimes we can’t, and it’s ok, in those situations, we just ask for help to professionals. There’s nothing to be shame to consult a psychologist or psychiatrist. It can help; so there’s no reason to keep suffering in silence; be brave, be bold, be courageous to ask for help and get better. That’s all the best I can wish you for. Cheers

Its interesting that the only things he ever thought about were 100% superficial.
Elliot thought he "deserved a girlfriend" because he dressed nice, looked good, had a BMW, and he was polite. To him these were the only things that mattered. He couldn't figure out why it wasn't working for him. The only solution he could come up with was to make himself look _even nicer,_ and have _even more money._ So he spent everything he had on designer clothes and lottery tickets.
Apart from all his insults, the only positive thing Elliot said about any girl was that she was "hot" or "above average". The only reasons he gave for wanting a girlfriend were for her to 1) be hot, 2) hang on his arm, and 3) let him sleep with her. That was the goal of his whole life. A hot girl who "adored" him would make him feel popular, accepted, no longer insecure.
Elliot hated other guys because he couldn't figure out how they connected with women on a deeper level than him. He was the "perfect gentleman," but no girl appeared out of the sky for him. Therefore life was completely unfair. Girls hated him for no reason and they needed to pay for it.
Elliot was empty inside. He didn't even know it.
In that last video its obvious that his "evil supervillain" act was forced. It was transparently unreal. Elliot did not know how to let anybody in, to see the real him. Not even himself.
