Boat life is so easy: The other day in the wind: I reversed around a blind corner (58ft with hubby on towpath as my 👀), boats galore in the way, into a very busy, and windy basin/junction, turned into a tight bridge, MORE boats, MORE wind - I did it, and hit NOTHING 🎉 The things we have to do, and we LOVE it ❤😂 I had dreaded the reversing, even thought about spending two-hours getting to the winding point and back, rather than suffer the reversing! I was truly dreading it! We smashed it, and we should be proud 💪
That rain coat looks a good bit of kit. That would keep you dry all day herding sheep. I love your positive can do attitude. I would say i 0:49 t's essential for your lifestyle otherwise you'd drive yourself crazy.I like that attitude, why rush there's always tomorrow.
May you are an absolute star. We have just had a hire boat for 4 days and both of us said how much we admire you now that we know how difficult the weather can make things and how every lock set up is slightly different as in the room to moor up before or after. We also admire you doing this whole living onboard alone. Hats off to you May ❤
I admire your fortitude you are so inspirational, I am sure your videos will give other people the encouragement to try this sort of lifestyle for themselves.
Good work May. Sometimes you have to push yourself out of your comfort zone and challenge yourself. I would advise you to keep the ratchet lever engaged with the gearing when you are raising the paddles, if your windless was to slip from the gog (especially one handed) you can cause a lot of damage if it hits you. It is a safety feature.
Sail with May 😊😊😊😊😅 Tacking a 70ft into wind on a narrow boat canal ! 😂😂😂😂 Well done May and another lovely video ,thankyou for sharing your journey!😊😊😊😊😊
Your a person who everyone should copy and then the UK would be a better place to live in,you do right in moving to new pastures and exploring more of the network I'll be here for you by following all your weekly experiences and will always subscribe to your channel ,well done May love watching what you get upto.❤🎉🎉🎉
Another Amazing Vlog May. The power of positivity. I love how you analyse the approach to challenges in life, wise words. You are a very resourceful person. So many hurdles you navigate all alone and, you Vlog at the same time, it’s impressive. Loads of your personal skill sets on show with your hard work ethic, sense of humour and your honesty. Well Done, yet again May another uplifting Vlog 👏👏👏
Well done May you smashed that boat move get in there girl 😊even tho you did nearly take your head off on that bridge thing where you lost your plate 😮😂 and also you had me pmsl when you said about the wet manky weed on the lock wall calling it "Lock Jizz" 😂😂😂
When setting out to do something, and you are in doubt, just put one foot in front of the other and move forward. It worked for me for 38 years of work in some very difficult situations. You handled that passage and the wind like a champ, and with lots of smiles too. Well done! I really liked the video. Cheers.
Once again an amazing vid, love your positive mental attitude, shows people if we can push these thoughts out, you can achieve all you set out to do Keep being awesome
Each adventure has a positive OR negative side. It all depends on whether you have learned from it or been threatened by it. Each time you repeat the same adventure it becomes easier to work through as you are not being pushed out of your comfort zone in the same way. May, have trust in your "Baby" and keep having faith in your self. You have grown so much since your first vlog. The adventures, whether it is dealing with wind or sun, will always be a learning experience. "What is the very worst that can go wrong?" In a few weeks I might literally watch you sail by. just throwing this out there . Nothing is so bad as the fear in your own mind! also take that nervous feeling and tell yourself its excitement . you go girl
The smile you have halfway thought says it all. Over coming your fear and just being there in the moment. There is a quote I keep in the back of my head. Hold on tightly, let go lightly. Which is my way of saying be flexible, if you reach goal or solve the problem you needed to then the way you did it doesn't matter.
I’m very impressed, I felt nervous just watching but you handled it all superbly. I used to overthink everything and I still do but what’s the worst that can happen. I think you’re fab 😊👍👍
Hey may! I love your videos. I’m looking to buy a boat at the moment and you videos have taught me so much and are super inspiring but honest! Thankyou!
Shifting them locks on ur own May n pushing ur boat out, surprised u not got arms n legs like Popeye after his spinach by now 💪, keep up the hard work, 💪 youd find a way to film everything with 1 hand by using a gopro n harness 😂
When I am in a harbour and the wind is pinning me to the wall, I reverse and the stern comes away, when clear put the boat into forward and off we go, whether it works with a canal boat I don't know but it is worth a try.
@@shortcircuit7149 I think the science behind it is, that the distance from the prop to the rudder is so short the stern will turn out if a full rudder is applied to get you off, expecting the bow to move when it is so far off on a narrowboat is too big an ask. As I said I have never been in a narrow boat, all my experience is in ocean-going craft, full of heavy divers and gear.🤣
I have an unusual question. Do you need a driving licence for water travel or provisional license or something, or is it just a test by the water authority to say people are able. Or is it like a bicycle & people are just trusted?
@@wellbeingonwater thank you. I see loads of narrow boat owners why out litter picking & never thought of asking any of them. Very friendly people especially when they catch me litter picking or in the water doing a bit of cleaning up.
Lose your confidence??? maybe you doubt it at times, but losing it, is never going to happen, to much have a good go, and battle it, in you May. Much as the old saying goes, if you think you might you probably won't, but if you think you can, you probably will. And sorry to say you are obviously a will person in case you already didn't know.
I think we as viewers find it surprising that someone who bares all ( not skin lol ) feels a bit like an impostor. You should not doubt your ability to know what you can achieve.
I initially enjoyed your vids but always knew you were a little different. However when you told us that you had an 'open relationship' it turned me totally off you. Enjoy your life but I am leaving.

This reminds me of the book, “Feel the fear and do it anyway!” Well done girl, you did well. xxx
And what could have been a difficult day turned out to be a lovely one 🙂Have yourself a good week young un, x
Yes it was super nice! Thanks for the love!
Superb teaching episode!

Love it! Fear is the thief of dreams!
Nice work it's not easy in the wind it can catch you out big time well done, I do like the oxford canal locks a lot more than the KA ones!!
Love your spirit May 💖
Thank you ☺️

Well done May! ( from NZ)
I like your funny accents always make me smile
I have so many comments I don't know where to start!😂 Well done May.. good for you!👍🙂
Hehe
Keep on in there 💪 🙌 😊
You would be able to film, get a body cam. Or a head cam. You can lose anything in a canal, just as you don’t lose your head whilst on it.
Yeahhhhhhh not for my style of film. Doesn’t do it for me
I’m very impressed, I felt nervous just watching but you handled it all superbly.
I used to overthink everything and I still do but what’s the worst that can happen. I think you’re fab 😊👍👍
U do excellent 👏 on boat ❤
You are an amazing young lady. I love watching these vids stay safe and safe travels.x

Good luck May, I hope everything goes according to your plan!
what an amazing person you are May thank you for showing your journey
Wow, thank you
Power May DID It !!! Great work💯💥💪💪💪
Call it Experience.....The Sky may fall on our Head....but it does not jet !
Reminds me of a childhood story!
THANK YOU MAY. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK
Well done you. That was quite a challenge. X
Thanks sandy ☺️
Positive mental May ❤😂😂
Nice episode! 💪🤙⛵
Thanks!
I'm intrigued by how you do lift bridges solo.
so brave well done love Mx
Thanks for watching ☺️
Enjoyable epi to watch, thanks
Glad you enjoyed it
I am loving your videos. Are you required to move your boat every so often? Or do you just prefer to have new scenery?
The boat doesn't need moving if it's windy it makes it dangerous.i get warnings on my phone from the CRT
Mission accomplished, nice little trip, dont risk your phone again May,that would be a disaster.Painting next week?
Not sure what’s going to happen next week hehe thanks for watching 🌟
Brill. Well Done May. PS Are you going Crick boat show 2024. I'll be there Sunday❤😊
Don't know about May, but I'll be there Sunday as well lol.
Hey Julie! Yes I’ll be there but not Sunday!
‘Always good enough’ repeat ad nauseam. ‘Cos you are😊
I shouldn’t be doing this, but FIRST AGAIN!!!
😀
the gap was tight alright my hands closed my hair raised when you were under the bridge seeing the solar things almost hit
Aww bless ya! Had ya gripped that’s fun!
Ahh you can do it, you're allowing yourself to get distracted.
It’s all positive stuff!
Shifting them locks on ur own May n pushing ur boat out, surprised u not got arms n legs like Popeye after his spinach by now 💪, keep up the hard work, 💪
youd find a way to film everything with 1 hand by using a gopro n harness 😂
Are those drawbridges always open? Or was the video edited, when you drove under the bridge, most of it seemed to be open?
Think the lift bridges open
💯
Did seal the screw holes? 😮

Cool! I think I might be too heavy for that
Yes have to agree. If being pinned I too push the stern out a little and reverse back. Give it a try may. We have a 57 ft narrow boat.

No licence for actually piloting a Narrowboat necessary! Which is why you get lots of tourists on them
@@wellbeingonwater thank you. I see loads of narrow boat owners why out litter picking & never thought of asking any of them. Very friendly people especially when they catch me litter picking or in the water doing a bit of cleaning up.

Yeah it can happen! I’m definitely not billet proof 😅 I appreciate what you’re saying 🙏
@@wellbeingonwater Put another way May, we have all badly hit our thumb with a hammer which still doesn't stop you picking it back up.
😊😊😊😊😊❤
😌
try Activated charcoal
Haha
Ummm....so I just saw the post where you explain how often you have to move and why. Please disregard my previous embarrassing post. 🙂
Hi 😎
👋
Fear comes from the dark side. Let God guide you every day. When you ask God for help a helping hand turns up.
looking at those trees dont look windy?
It was about 18mph. For me that’s windy
what happened to the days when kids would hang around at locks and do the work for little pocket money?
Wow that’s so cool! 👌
I think we as viewers find it surprising that someone who bares all ( not skin lol ) feels a bit like an impostor. You should not doubt your ability to know what you can achieve.
