    "ya gotta throw it like a frisbee?" proceeds to throw straight into the ground lol

    This was mostly just learning to catch since the throws started so good lmao. A shame nobody told her that you have to try to move with the object you're catching and 'sync up' with it, then it doesn't hurt to catch (or at least hurts a lot less)
    Edit: about the playground, because I gotta, it seems like it's designed to let children engage in a controlled form of "risky play" where there is an element of danger that adds a lot to the fun and sense of adventure, as well as helping kids to develop their reasoning, spacial and sense of danger skills. Research has shown that 'risky play' is actually really good for kids and making playgrounds *too* safe has had a measurable impact/harm on kids' development. Children also naturally seek out some element of risk as part of exploration and for the thrill of it, so having it be a controlled risk in a monitored area is a really good idea since that way you can make the risks not too big and increase the safety level if they mess up (like the relatively soft ground in that playground).

    For these "Maya tries sports" streams, she should bring along an advisor, if only to have a voice of reason (not chat😅) nudging her in the right direction.

    I was in colorguard for 3 years.... I HATED tossing my flag because I always thought it would hit me in the head... it did a few times, but I got better over time and it was rare that I would get hit. I haven't touched my flag in over a year :(

    everyone giving her crap for not reading the instructions, but keep in mind she probs wanted the stream to go on for a while, and if she read the instructions she might've successfully thrown and caught it quickly. which wouldn't be ideal if she wants the stream to go on for a couple of hours. plus this way she gets to ask chat to help her which keeps them more engaged, rather than her just trying over and over once she already knows the technique.
    people seem to forget that this is her job so she probs puts a lot of thought into even the smaller aspects of streaming.

      This skill’s pretty easy to master, I’ve seen it done in a day. The trick - counter-intuitively - is to whip it like a frisbee but as HARD AS YOU CAN and at an angle towards the ground, like at a 45° angle towards the ground, in the general direction you want it to go and then return.
      Imagine a golf ball sitting on a tee about 8-to-15 feet away from you, and that you’re trying not only to WHIP that golf ball off of the tee but to OBLITERATE it. The rest takes care of itself!
      The boomerang won’t, like, fly straight ahead, pause in mid-air, and then return. Rather, it’ll travel in a sort-of arc: imagine a spheroid with one acute angle, like a teardrop, and that the boomerang’s point of departure is the source of the teardrop.

    Boomerangs are supposed to be like wings, the leading edge is fat and the trailing edge thin, what you have a lumps of wood. Good luck.

      21:54, but there was debate about whether the boomerang completed enough of an arc to count.

      @@synchronium24Wojito was just expecting a perfect boomerang throw rather than that one but it surely made an arc because it came back, tbh he's the one to blame we didn't see it because he didn't focus the cam on the boomerang while it's flying around and back to Maya.

    heh This one is hard to watch, and it's only just started... I wish she would read the instructions, so she would've learned she has to throw it > like that, and *_not_* < like that.
    In the meantime, I just have to stick it out, and hope she realizes her error sooner rather than later 🤞😊🤞
    _edit: Now that I think about it, I'm amazed it's actually curving ANY, given the airfoil is facing backwards (it's literally a wing)._
    _edit 2:_ 🤔 _Unless it's a Symmetrical airfoil, I suppose that'd explain how it can still function that well throwing it how is..._

    I never wanted to call Flip out because it would be mean and weird, but I had always thought it was his fault that the camera never focused while being on the move. Now I know it's not Flip's fault since Woj had the same issues. IDK what the solution is TBH, but I think it's the lens? It's like too much of a narrow focus to be using it for walking around so much. It wasn't too bad today but any time Woj had to move and keep focus on something it just doesn't happen. It's very annoying seeing 50% of every collab stream be out of focus when she's walking around the sanctuary. Like that lens/camera/whatever it is is AWESOME when she's in the studio and it can focus on very little, but it seriously stinks for IRL.
    Sorry if this is completely wrong, and I know if anyone reads this they'll take it as an attack, but seriously, I cannot be the only one who notices that most of her "walking around" streams are out of focus.

    • @TissueCat_
      @TissueCat_ 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      as someone that watched a BUNCH of her content, I've never noticed the focus being consistently off like you're saying. im not saying you're wrong, but that maybe its rlly subtle and most people dont notice. do you work with cameras often? if so thats probs why you notice it more than others.

    i think its very funny how when she throws things, like the axe, she puts what looks like no effort. lmao. the woman who works with animals and does physical labor. there is no way she cant throw with more effort. ive seen her buckets.

    • @TissueCat_
      @TissueCat_ 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      to be fair, throwing a boomerang and catching it isnt about force or strength, its about angles and using the wind to ur advantage. she seems to be throwing with plenty of force. now for the axe throwing type of stuff, yeah i get what you mean.
      also, if she had used more strength when throwing like you're saying she should've, this stream likely wouldn't have been as long because she would've run out of stamina sooner
