I understand. I have a 1993 Jeff Beck Stratocaster in surf green that belonged to my father. It’s not worth anything crazy but I plays like a dream. Someone could offer me any amount of money and I wouldn’t part ways with it. Sometimes certain items hold a place in your heart that’s worth more than any monetary value. It was his favorite instrument, and now it’s my favorite instrument. I honestly love it like a family member.

Not entirely true. Say not a lot of people bid on it but it still goes for say $70,000, by the time he'd of paid his auction fees of about 30% and maybe others, he'd walk with $49,000, possibly less. Auctions can go seriously wrong too.

I would not want $40,000 in hundred-dollar bills. When they pay that much for an item in cash, do they give you a complimentary brief case or money sack to carry it out with? How about a ride to the bank in an armored truck? If I showed up to my bank with 400 hundred-dollar bills and tried to deposit it, they'd call the police

I hate it when people say “This is the holy grail” with every rarity or special guitar that comes in. In my mind the only “holy grail” is and will only ever be an original 1959 Gibson LP Burst. I think you can put a ‘58 or a 57 Goldtop in that category but for every cool or high dollar item that comes thru doesn’t make it a “holy grail.” Just my thoughts.
