    I just bought my KR2 & I do not have my pilot certificate as of yet. I brought it from AZ to CA in a U-haul as well. Good luck!

      Nice! I think the best pilots are those who really understand their airplane, and what better way to learn it then to build it. Best of luck on your build!

      @@letsbuildthis I’m on the same path as you. Started learning to fly when I was 16 then couldn’t afford to finish. Started building my plane last October and just finished my PPL last month. Good times.

    My brother and I had our eye on this plane for a few months but held off on it as we're still finishing our kitfox 4 we regret not buying it but glad to see it's getting new life and gonna have a video build series super clean kit I restored an early avid a model s/n 125 and my father built a brand new A model in the 90s s/n 499 I would personally run the undercambered stol wing ribs that's what makes an avid an avid the other ribs make it essentially a kitfox 4 I promise with the stol wing what you lose on cruise you gain on handleing it Flys great and can turn on a wing and not lose your point on the ground and jumps into the air and climbs out at 45 degree angle wish you all the best

    Excited for and following along.
    I’m wanting to get started on my first build. I’m holding out for an RV-15. I went from flying certified planes (Cherokee, 152, 172, 182, Tiger) to an experimental (RV-6). I don’t think I can go back.
    I’d highly recommend checking out Sopwith for finishing up your license. It’s an Equity based club out of U42 and KSLC. I used to be a member there. Can say enough good things about the club.

      Thanks! Ok, I’ll check it out! Good luck on yours. Yeah, I don’t think I’ll do much certified either.

      Sorry 😬... 😀, Don't worry there are many good options out there, just have to watch for the right timing. I was watching almost every day.

    Great video. When I saw the Subaru on the engine stand during the garage cleanup I thought you might have been planning it to be subaru powered, then the Rotax engine mount sort of spoilt that!... only beceause I'm putting a Subaru EJ25 in mine. Good luck with the build, and looking forward to more episodes.

    • @letsbuildthis
      @letsbuildthis  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oh haha, yeah that engine is there for research. What airplane are you putting an EJ25 in?

    • @bryangriggs9558
      @bryangriggs9558 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Scratch building a Zenith CH750, with quite a number of mods. There are a few Subaru powered Experimentals flying although most seem to be using the earlier 2 litre versions. Reportedly they seem reliable with good power.

    • @letsbuildthis
      @letsbuildthis  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Nice, way to go! Yeah, I'm a huge fan of Subaru myself, and believe that they can be a very good candidate if you understand the engineering requirements. I rebuilt an EJ255 then drove it for a year just to test out and understand the engine. The engine on that stand is an FB25 as part of that research. The boxer line just gets heavier as they get newer, so the aircraft would have to size up. You should follow @rv6ejguy for more Subaru stuff. He know a ton. th-cam.com/video/EfsaOi07dkk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=f8_0jk3tPBvx2QXo

    You don't need a pilots licence to buy or own a plane, they do say you need a licence to fly some types of planes. 🤔🇨🇦

    There are plans I believe to lengthen and widen that mk lV. I believe it's called the Airdale?? I would seriously check that out early on in your build, assembly. Avid Airdale.

      The fuselage stretch is usually done when one is installing a Subaru engine, They are very heavy, and the Avid tends to almost be a bit nose heavy even with a 582. If you go with a 912, you will need to add about 10 lbs of weight to the tail to get into the center of the CG range. If you decide to not use the 912 mount, contact me, I have a need for one. I've owned 4 different Avids and did a lot of rebuilding on them. Jim
      PS weight is the killer of aircraft performance. If you really, really don't need something to make the plane fly, don't put it on....

      So was that a attempted build that someone gave up on? I always miss that no one ever speaks about pricing, one of the major issues that we have, dreaming of flying but affordability is a big issue.
