Oh you need a makita to open a makita! thats where I made a misstake using my bacho screwdriver! ;) turned out I missed 1 screw behind the motor cover.. from the looks of it I need to give my trusted work horse a well deserved lube/cleaning job. And it doesnt seem to be that har to put back together. Not like my bosch 18v that didnt really want to be taken apart. But that you actually can remove everything in this and that the gearbox doesnt fall out the first thing after opening it screams "good tool" to me.,. the thing that gave out on my drill was a little plastic thingy on the direction changer. But I can fix it with superglue and 2 ring washers..well I am off to the store to buy some cleaning juice and lube.

I have this drill Makita DHP458 and I figured out, that it has not 2000 rpm in 2. mode. It has only 1450 rpm with fully charged 3 Amp battery. Well that is the sad truth :-(
If anybody can explain it why it is so, please do so.

How I measured the rpm of my makita dhp 458 drill. :
I glued a piece of reflex tape on to the spinning chuck.
Then I pointed the rpm tester on to it. It has a laser beam so you can easily point on a subject.
Then I let run the drill for a couple seconds, until the rpm tester got the values from the reflex tape on the rotating chuck of the drill. Then I was upset...
I measured other tools too, but only a few of them were OK....

Yes, I glued the self adhesive tape, ( which was added to the rpm tester as a kit )
also on a part of a drill bit which I inserted in to the chuck, but the result was the same.
Maybe the reason could be in the batteries. I use 3 Amp batteries. Maybe 4 or 5 Amp batteries could deliver more power, but I am not sure about this...
Batteries, as well as the drill alone are under 2 years warranty yet. They looks like new I use it just occasionaly...
I am about to give it back to dealer... hmm

Yes, this look like a reality to me, what you have wrote. But what is the point then? What is the truth? Why are they writting unreal informations?
I will take all the makita package as well as the rpm tester to a dealer, and I will test those new devices there in the shop. After that i will write to Makita something "spicy"... I think.
If the drill is in hard daily use in dusty enviroment, I would never complain. But in this situation it is a different story.
