    Glad to see LNG Capt makes videos, it's too hard to find the real LNG onboard videos. Let's keep it on and share more.

      Hello Arnel, thats the point to be ready prior joining the ship.Everyone forgets and we change vessels which have different type of lifesaving and firefighting equipment.

    There is a possibility if you press the limit switches while you already heaving up lifeboat which will trip your pump ...so it's better to first keep pressed the limit switch one by one and then try to heave up with the button in order to confirm that limits are working properly.. great video btw

      Great comment Nahui yes indeed this is one best practice to perform it without possibly tripping the pump.
      It has happened to me and then Electrician or Electronic rush on the spot to start it back up again.
      All over the years it has only happened to me twice but at again as you said its preferable to be done as you describe on your comment.

    Question. How motor can heave up the lifeboat when the brake is engage?

    • @carnavalaticonpatatisgrati1090
      @carnavalaticonpatatisgrati1090 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello sir, sorry for the delay,but it's my first time watching the video,in the shaft between e-motor and hand crank there's a "bearing" that rotates only in one direction which is called freewheel clutch,hope this helps.

    Captain, since we have the pin at 0:40, why do we also need falling preventing devices (FPD)?

    • @nickthesailorman360
      @nickthesailorman360  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It falls upon the makers manual and Masters discretion.In some instances in the past the FPD was used only when the boat was moved from its position.Now days we only place the pins.

      @@nickthesailorman360 Oh ok! Thanks Capt!

    • @charliemak9803
      @charliemak9803 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There are 2 types of FPD, "Locking pins" and "Strops or slings" Since FPD was first officially mentioned on IMO circular in 2009, some old ships manufactured before 2009 may not have pin hole for the "locking pin" , those ships usually use "Strops or slings" to fulfill the IMO FPD requirements, as the use of strops is technically easy and economic.
      Further information can be found in MSC.1/Circ.1327, MSC.1/Circ.1392 and MSC.1/Circ.1466.

    • @CptGiorgis
      @CptGiorgis 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@charliemak9803 Yeah, I had also found that when I searched it. However I've seen sling FPD onboard a 2016 vessel which of course had the safety pin for the hooks. That's why I asked. Maybe they exist there in case the crew wants to to get the life boat to sea and need to avoid the premature release between the time they put the pin out and the moment they release it manually.

    What could be the autonomy of a rescue boat in terms of food, distances etc.? Thank you for your reply !

    • @nickthesailorman360
      @nickthesailorman360  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Samuel It depends on how many people are finally on board and how much they can cope with this situation.In regards to distance well give me those oars and I will paddle the oceans of the 🌎🌍
