I’m watching this 8 months later and I got a question. Is that a rental home because if it is, you must have been lucky to be able to remove the wall!! Beautiful space you got there..
Hi Rachel, thx for tr vds. Am still looking for a good hotel in jinja with affordable price to take ma family on vacation in Dec! Any ideas, also I love dat dress , wat store is it from? Love from Uk! Keep doing wat u do🤗

Thank you so much! And I'm going to try and find a way to organize information for you all in regards to ongoing rentals available, houses, etc. Still in the works
That's a really good question and one that's often asked by people who have never visited East Africa. Feel free to check out a few of my vlogs where I talk about safety and show us out late at night and walking around our neighborhood. Unfortunately most mainstream media only shows the bad things of most African countries so there is this perception that it's a scary place and you can't walk outside, but that's the furthest thing from the truth. You do have to watch out for hustlers and petty thieves but once you get here and talk to people you know what scams people pull and you can just be very careful of that kind of thing. But it is really safe here and there's no need to be afraid. I totally understand that you might be curious because of how things are portrayed in the news which is unfortunately in a bad way. Feel free to check out a few of my vlogs and hopefully they will put your mind at ease. Any questions, feel free to reach out. th-cam.com/video/BLGmEtD4FAc/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/GI0WR5aUtQg/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/bdSRbFhdCdo/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/AIp2Q71pSXQ/w-d-xo.html
Short answer, get in behind your fence and you are safe, in the middle income to upper income neighborhoods. Anywhere else, get home and inside by ~8:30pm. If you are female, particularly. No jokes; look up Kampala news reports over recent years for more context. Uganda is a poorly governed dictatorship, what do you expect??
Hey! Where I live, I feel relatively safe. I have a gate and security, so it helps. I move cautiously as well and never share where I live, what area, etc for a reason. Given that there is a lot of small crimes like thefts, etc, you have to be EXTRA safe. Also, people assuming you have money means you need to amp up your own security. Going out as a woman, you also have to be more cautious. But in general, I feel pretty safe.
@@RachaelNalumu To all your readers: There you have it people! Those who have ears 'n foresight, use 'em. Notice the key phrases, "gate and security, extra safe, have money, as a woman, ...". If you believe these Y-tube "experts", then follow their directions for YOUR own safety and security, at YOUR own peril! The incontestable fact remains, Uganda is a brutal dictatorship and live wire police state, where many rogue government operatives, petty and opportunistic criminals, a growing, vast, malicious, and youthful citizenry, together combine for VERY insidious and dangerous everyday safety conditions! The perceived experience(s) of these Y-tube "experts" are made possible only by a combination of: ... Stockholm syndrome, inexcusable female naivity, denialism, self aggrandizement, and a pseudo elitist sense of privilege. This sense of pseudo elitist "privilege" is due, in part, to some limited proximity to "connected" friends/relations/partners, and a near criminal-negligence level Kardashian absence of "wokeness"! (Not to mention some sinister but familiar and calculated (strategic) mzungu dishonesty in this thread - don't get me started) Evidence: Numerous forever-unresolved high profile murders, frequent yet unreported low profile citizen murders, and "disappearances", rampant rapes and grave assaults, universal self imposed curfews, mass unexplained military and security agency deployments. The above are all just a few items of evidence against all the re-assurances by these local agents of consumerism. You have all been warned, and you are welcome!!
They're actually a lot of crafts made in Uganda.. Especially by the Nubian community.. There's also a group in fort portal... It's just sad the stuff is barely marketed locally
I'm skimming through your videos as I have so much to do and watch. But I have a question: does it worth to ship a houseful of stuff to Uganda when moving ther from say the U.S.? What's the general experience with receiving your cargo? Is the shipment intact, damaged, or is anything missing? It's something important to consider. Thank you.
So I actually want to film a more in-depth version of shipping. I’m looking into something the last few weeks so I’ll keep you posted. I’d say, yes, ship everything you want and can
