Spectre Bond suits were sprayed on! Way too small. Best tailoring for me was QoS. The walking into the hotel scene in La Pas Bond wears a superbly tailored blue suit...best ever IMHO..
Can't go wrong with any of DC Bond's casual jackets or coats to be honest, it's just a matter of which you like the most and how much disposable income you have lol
Completely agree with David about killing the Skyfall suit. How many suits were wrecked due to burst seams versus holes created by stunts?? Quantum, so far, is by far and away Craig's sartorial best outing.
This was great. Interesting that there were only a few least favourite (kills :-)) Bond style choices. The banter among you four guys was wonderful. Please keep them coming. More of these!
As I commented on The Bond Experience Facebook page. Best was easily QoS. Those suits perfectly hit the mark. Worst a toss up between Skyfall and Spectre. I still have a problem with how tight those suits look in Skyfall. How could Tom Ford get it so right in QoS yet so wrung with the next two.
@@treadstone1970 I think Tom Ford does what the costume designer tells him. To his credit, he understands that it's not his call to make. You're not alone in disliking the the tight suits for sure. I'm over it myself. They've basically made a superhero outfit for Craig because he's muscular, so that the suits show that off. It's not classic Bond but it is what is. Both Skyfall and Spectre have superb casual looks I think though
This was a brilliant discussion and really showcased the scope of individual preferences when it comes to any and all aspects of Bond, particularly the Craig era. This was fantastic content as always.
Might be controversial, but I think I preferred the fit of the Brioni suits on Craig in Casino Royale to the Tom Ford suits in the later films. I always think the Tom Ford suits look too tight and almost too small on Craig. Don't get me wrong I think they look mostly good, but the tailoring often seems too fitted to me to be practical or plausible for a character that carries a concealed weapon or is involved in action. You can also sometimes see pulling across the front of his jackets creating creases from the button. They just look restrictive and sometimes almost undersized. Although that being said all the clothing post Casino Royal seems to be very fitted.
My favourite is spectre (Austria outfit, 3 piece funeral, opening scene winowpane, the Burnello desert outfit) not to mention solden with rollback. Just superb! Then followed by skyfall. Fabrics amazing, I liked the fact the sizes were too small actually, Barbour jacket is awesome (and awesome scene), bond peacoat, setter shorts in the pool, I’m still unconvinced by no time to die
David thank you for always finding a new and engaging subject for other fans. I would love to have friends around me that I could engage with on Bond as you guys do. I feel that I would need to take a semester of study under you regarding Bond styling and brands. Whilst I do not have the income to buy such brands and may have to retire to obtain an Omega, I love Bond's styling and your efforts have reinvigorated a Bond fan, a fan since my early 80s childhood.
I know the cut of some things, like the Casino khakis, are a bit outdated but if you look at the color combinations and pieces as they work together, Craig does not really have a miss.
I LOVE Mason & Sons! I've bought many things from them (not all Bond stuff) and they are my favorite online store. Recently I bought a shirt and they didn't like the one they had and they contacted me immediately to tell me that they wanted to wait until they had a version up to their high standards. They are an awesome company.
Best looks in the Craig era: (IMO) Anything in Casino Royale QOS: TF Sweater, TF Harrington TF Sunglasses (rare to find) SKYFall: Barbour Jacket, Billy Reid Coat, w/Smedley sweater, TF Tux, Levi's Leather Jacket, SPECTRE: TF white Tux, (ode to Connery RIP) TF Solden outfit, Brunello cucinelli outfit, Black Varvatos jacket, all the N.Peal sweaters
I want to see the Bond packed suitcase pics. I loved the Mason and Sons white dinner jacket rescue story. I also like the white tshirt and dark shawl lapel cardigan look from CR but I am not sure I can really pull it off as well. Some real eye opening moments on clothes that I have passed right over without thinking about them.
Can you guys all do this for more of the bond actors? Even if they all don’t get their own dedicated videos. We gotta have a fashion debate on thunderball and Connery, also Moore’s quirky 70s styles!
I find this one of the most interesting and important discussions I have listened to, as I am very influenced by the Daniel Craig/James Bond look. Have to say that I own quite a few pieces. 😂
Quite good list with notable points. Only film I haven't seen was quantum of solace but going off by scenes here's my ranking 4 and 5) Quantum of solace/Spectre not 100% sure 3) No time to die 2) Skyfall 1) Casino Royale
For keep or kill, why is the Madagascar shirt even in contention? Bond is at a mongoose/snake fight, how inconspicuous would he look in a cardigan? It would be worse than touching his ear. My pick to kill, the white button down ; my keep is the linen suit that he’s wearing with it.
Probably one of the best TBE episodes I've seen and that's saying something. Thank you to all involved. Like John Willams, Quantum and Spectre are two of my favourite ever Bond episodes despite the criticism thrown at them. I'm sorry I just relate to everything he said and I thought I was alone in that. I loved both films the moment I first saw them. Daniel Craig has hardly made any mis steps for me on the casual side (I've excluded NTTD as I've not seen it) and only the shrunken suit look has been an error on the formal side. I've long felt that only Thunderball on a sartorial mix of formal and casual can stand up to the Craig era. The Sunspel polo, Matchless jacket and N Peal sweater will be timeless and we can all adapt a Harrington jacket whatever the brand.
There is no doubt that Craig is the most stylish Bond, with Connery coming in at a respectable 2nd. I'm so glad that the clothing dept., who selected the clothes for the Craig era, went in the direction that they did.
Don’t know why you guys are so enthralled with a Harrington style jacket. It’s so pedestrian. Reminds me of a sad London Fog jacket I had in elementary school. David - you told John how good he looked in his but the collar was all flattened out as he wears it in this video and I’d be hard pressed to find anyone who would think this was a fashion-forward look for anyone.
For me if you want Bond suits, Connery and Brosnan wore them best. Craig is all about the casual looks, especially his jackets. The Tom Ford Harrington, the Billy Reid peacoat and the Tom Ford Solden jacket. I have them all! (well not Tom Ford versions those I got from Daniel Love).
I like the gradual change in clothing. CR he wears great but simple outfits. QOS he gets a big more dressy but still more casual. Skyfall he's got the suits and tux, more "intellegent". Spectre is full Bond wardrobe, then NTTD back to casual given the retirement and eventual return to more commando gear. They screwed up the narrative in Spectre but glad the "vibe" of becoming Bond stuck through the films.
Forget Bond franchise - I said it when the film came out. Quantum of Solace is the best wardrobe in the history of Cinema. From start to finish. Oddly enough the only other film for me that competes is Thomas Crown Affair with Steve McQueen.
I’m finding it hard to agree with the styling on quantum. It’s amazing to hear the fan boy support for these looks! I don’t like the chocolate suit, the shawl cardigan... I can’t believe this!
Am I the only one who doesn't think that grey suits work as well for Craig as blue ones? And that tab collar shirts make him look like he's being strangled?
*Potential Spoilers* for No time to Die and the outfits we have seen. If Bond does have a daughter or is a father figure I think his look definitely fits a “dad style”
Great conversation, the only thing I would add are sub pictures of the outfits being discussed.
I love John Williams' enthusiasm for the lesser appreciated Craig films.
John is a fantastic guest. Such infectious enthusiasm.
Spectre Bond suits were sprayed on! Way too small. Best tailoring for me was QoS. The walking into the hotel scene in La Pas Bond wears a superbly tailored blue suit...best ever IMHO..

For me, the SPECTRE dessert outfit, with the linen jacket and knitted tie with the J.Crew boots and cotton trousers looks perfect
'Suede shaving'!! My, educative and bloody entertaining. Well done chaps. Hilarious stuff.
Completely agree with David about killing the Skyfall suit. How many suits were wrecked due to burst seams versus holes created by stunts?? Quantum, so far, is by far and away Craig's sartorial best outing.

What a conversation. Great stuff.
David’s white dinner jacket story is the most Bond thing that I have ever heard.
It would've been great if you incorporated some screenshots for those who are new to the channel! Great discussion nonetheless!
Yeah, inset pictures for all these would be good. It’s really missing.
Really enjoyed this discussion! Cheers!
It is SOO great to hear the love for the DC films and the sartorial elements. And the love for QoS too! Keep it coming....
As I commented on The Bond Experience Facebook page.

I think his sloppy slouch jacket from the first kill was intentional. That was pre-007 James Bond and his taste and style developed with experience.
Quite good list with notable points.
Only film I haven't seen was quantum of solace but going off by scenes here's my ranking
4 and 5) Quantum of solace/Spectre not 100% sure

Hey Rolo. Thank you for the Quantum & Spectre love. We are cut from the cloth. - JW - Ps LA Confidential all the way.

I thought the spectre trousers with the matchless jacket was brucnello cucinelli’ not top man’
Top man pants were from skyfall
Correct they were brucnello cucinelli, the same chinos as the ones later in the film post train scene
I do hope the Spectre Sport coat is still coming from Royale Filmwear.
So long as it comes after the Austria jacket
The brown linen one? It is coming.
I agree I think Daniel wore the polos best and no tie the best. Brosnan and Connery wore the tux like no one and moore wore the turtleneck the best
Could it be he wore the short sleeve white shirt with the intent of looking like he was a resort employee?
David, can you please post those photos of Bond's globetrotter case packed with the clothes from Spectre?
I have the ski pants and wear them all the time in the snow. They are really good as practical snow pants!
Where can I find those?
Would they be suitable for skiing?
Did John get your sunglasses lol

I will never be able to wear flared bottom anything, let alone chinos. It reminds me too much of the 70's, a time that style forgot.
It was a nod to Roger Moore's Bond.
Billy Reid pea coat all the way for me it’s my ultimate favorite
I’m finding it hard to agree with the styling on quantum. It’s amazing to hear the fan boy support for these looks! I don’t like the chocolate suit, the shawl cardigan... I can’t believe this!

In reality if Bond was in nicer clothes in Jamaica he be constantly dealing with muggers.
He hasn't got a worst look.
*Potential Spoilers* for No time to Die and the outfits we have seen. If Bond does have a daughter or is a father figure I think his look definitely fits a “dad style”
He wears the sunglasses, beard, chauffeur duds so the other guy doesn't recognize him.
Bobby's neck is HUGE
It's massive, I know, but that's a cross I have to bear
@@bobbymorelli just messing with ya 😂 love the video man
@@commanderdoom1319 all good! Glad to hear you enjoyed the discussion! 🙏🏼
I am glad Bobby is there to cancel out John’s excessive man-love!
Totally love the way you call James Bond ..... cre🥚. His name is spelled CRAIG .... how does that possibly translate to cre🥚
I've heard several American youtubers pronounce it this way, its slightly annoying.
Please pronounce the letter …’A’. Daniel… CrAig!!!!
Why can't James Bond fire a belt-fed light machine gun in full-auto burst mode one-handed?
Much like Arnold Schwarzenegger & Rambo?
Not his style baby, not his style
WTF!!!! That music in the intro nearly burst my eardrums , whats that about ? Way too loud make it stop at once
I can rock pleated pants for men
Tuxedo from CR definitely ain’t the best one. Quantum & Skyfall are miles better. TF in general is better than Brioni in the Craig era.
Bikini Bond is the best
Disappointing language from John Williams. M.
