What a brilliant video again. Thanks for sharing it. I was thrilled to see the SYPTE Trolleybuses there in a photo in the Doncaster depot alongside the one SYPTE had painted in Rotherham heritage trolleybus livery, (my grandfather was a Rotherham Corporation electric traction linesman and I have photos of him on the last day of Rotherham Trolleybus operations in the depot and even out and about changing the wheel on one of them). We should never have got rid of the old electric tram and trolleybus systems imo. They would have been supplemented with diesel power of course but they were very environmentally friendly. Thanks again for the memories.
@@adamlee3772 Thanks so much. Glad you enjoyed it. Yes I totally agree with you. Trolleybuses and even trams were the future but the infernal combustion engine was cheaper...
Many thanks. It is a great shame that privatisation stopped the South Yorkshire trolleybus project. I believe that West Yorkshire PTE were also working on plans to introduce trolleybuses and had got as far as reconditioning old overhead stanchions. How long before we get battery trolleybuses in Britain?
I absolutely love your content about buses thank you so much..I would love it if you could do something about Dennis plaxton pointer darts...the buses of my childhood...you just seem to know everything about buses and where they came from ...but either way I will look forward to your content 👌
I have a recollection that the last vehicles ordered by Crosville before the brand disappeared from England (Crosville Cymru lasted longer) were Falcons, although they ended up being delivered to North Western in red and blue livery. Rode on them regularly between Runcorn and Liverpool on the H26/H30/H31.
Having never had the opportunity to ride the Dominator Trolleybus in service, it’s on my bucket list to go to Sandtoft and (hopefully) ride it there. Great video as usual Jake 👍
@@JakeSCOC Now that you mention it, yes. Don’t know if that’s the technology at the time or intentional - during the blackout in the war, trams were known as the ‘silent killers’.
@unclenolly3207 I wonder if it was an early development of ambient noise with this one? Like they do with some electric cars. Make the motors deliberately noisy so they can be heard.
