- I have been dying to do this one and finally figured it out, I am on a crazy run and have remixed 4 songs in the last five hours...
This is the song that put the Bee Gees in the history books. It fought its way to the top of the chart beating down Donna Summer's "Hot Stuff" from #1 for one week. That gave them 27 weeks at #1, putting them after Elvis, Beatles, Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney. It also was the third consecutive #1 from "Spirits Having Flown" preceded by "Tragedy" and "Too Much Heaven".
It was their sixth consecutive #1 single matching the record set by the Beatles and it was the 9th #1 single from the Bee Gees. It was also the end of their stunning run of hits becoming yesterday's heroes and not being able to get any higher than #30 and #45.

Barry, Maurice and Robin left us such an incredible legacy of music. They always had brilliant harmonies and magnificent arrangements. Spirits Having Flown their follow up album to the mega selling Saturday Night Fever is every bit as good. That hook at 6:44 is just awesome!

Oh, one of my wedding songs. I remember dancing as man and wife for the first time at our wedding reception to this song. I love dancing with my husband; he' s a great disco dancer and can really spin me around like a top on the dance floor. I saw how much he loved me by the look in his eyes that day. As a child of the 70's, I loved the song on a superficial level. As an adult, I have a much greater appreciation for the lyrics and arrangements. With the BeeGees, you can see the clear demarcations in their sound. in 1975, their move to Miami and their work with Arif Mardin and Albhy Galuten refined their R&B chops and represented 'Peak Bee Gees'. @3:50. What an amazing run the BeeGees had because they worked hard for it. Same as DJDiscoCat, creating new mixes of oh so familiar songs (mostly), giving them fresh aural coats that give us cozy and closer yet again. That truly magic.
from 75-79, they had 8 #1s. not to mention the 3 #1s they wrote for their younger brother. plus the YE hit from SNF, if i can't have you. interesting fact. RSO (the label that the bgs were on), from 12/14/77 thru 07/29/78 locked down the number 1 spot save for three weeks (a record that still stands today!!!!)

Now this IS a damn GOOD remix!!. Well done. You have brought out the SWIRLING orchestral bits, the bits that were so overlooked on the official mix by the vocals. So many people try their hands at this sort of thing and they all tend to make the same mistake: keep repeating the same thing over and over just to add time to the track. QUALITY is always better than QUANTITY!

What a great remix. Being born in the 60's, music from the 70's and 80's is what I grew up to and you have done an amazing job on all the mixes from that era. I commend you for all your hard work. Magnificent mix; this song came out right as my GF of 2 1/2 years dumped me, wanting to 'get on with her life' because I didn't want to get married until we were out of school. She married someone else six months later, I suppose in a rush to get on with her life..... and then she divorced a few months after that. Came running back to me, but I had moved on by then. Oh well. I wonder where she is now...... doesn't show up on any searches, anywhere. But I still have the memories.
