I recommend visiting the Albanian Alps in the north. It’s really beautiful there and not so crowded like in other touristic countries. You could visit the Theth National Park or the Valbona National Park and also take a boat tour on the Komani lake and the Shala river. Berat and Gjirokastra are also very beautiful cities and don’t forget to take a look at Butrint National Park.

I hope to visit next summer and would love to visit Valbona, Theth, Kelmend. I am an Albanian living in the West for many years; I have seen Shkoder and Tropoja more than 20 years ago, but never been to the mountains and would like to bring my kids along. I have seen some encouraging videos that there are roads now that bring people up in the mountains. I am not a hiker of sorts, just want to enjoy the scenery and hike for a few hours. I remember Valbone river was crystal clear.
