Pre tour tech Long days of mundane set up, test, re-test, re-wire, test again band runs thru several songs hangs on stage dbl checking what ever comes to mind . Makes changes then leaves til l the next day All the while you are working thru the night to implement those changes prior to their return. At the end of it all you are soo ready to get on the road just to get out of tech rehearsals !
Thomas Georgantas Absolutely - I mixed a cover band in a park on a July 4 a few years ago. No big deal show, but from god knows where, a Turbosound PA showed up and it was fantastic
I'd like to thank the Creator and all the artists and workers who participated in this tour. 25 years later, its still one of my favorite musical and sensory experiences. Nice footage of the artitist placing the finishing details on the pig. I knew I wasnt mistaken on its superiority. Rogers Pig on the 2006 tour looked like it was bought at CVS, although he stepped it up on the 2010 Wall tour. Also, good look at the Mothership crystal ball. Thanks for the video.
Swapping the PM3000 strips....bet it's the VCA chip...how many times did I swap them out in the day....often during the gig.....1..2..3...reseat on the downbeat...
Thank God David met Polly. He was really letting himself go in the 80s. Im sure the stress of Waters, trying to keep the remaining members focused enough to continue, all of that sucked. But, Polly brough some style back to the man.
That all depends on how you define state-of-the-art. Some of the equipment they made back then is better than some of today's equipment and will Outlast it
Best concert experience I ever had. Pink Floyd Nov 1987 Houston Astrodome. Messrs. Gilmour, Mason and Wright put on a show that was sonically amazing and visually mesmerizing. The only thing that would have made it better was a Mr. Waters but all things must pass. Mr. Gilmour and Mr. Wright did admirable work filling in for Mr. Waters vocal parts along with Jon Carin and Guy Pratt.
Michael Banuelos-Agreed. I was fortunate enough to catch two shows on this tour. I was 18 yrs old, I'm almost 50 and have seen many bands but None have surpassed Pink Floyd.
Mr Waters? The only thing he could have done better than Gilmour was making better songs since he was a better composer than Gilmour. Roger was never a good singer or a good musician at all.
@9:24 i stood behind the varilite board on Chris De Burgh flying colors tour 1988 awesome tech back then while everyone was carrying tons of par cans lots of burned cables back then
my name is tim. i saw pink Floyd on this tour in Orlando fl .on april 30th 1988 at the citrus bowl .it was the best concert i'd ever been to. it poured down rain all day and all through the show. my problem is I cant find any news stories, interveiws or video have my stub that specific concert.i would to find something to prove to my friends that I was their and to reminisce the memories of the show. I still have my ticket stubb. can any body help me find this information it would be highly appreiciatet. would like to hear from someone who was there at the show. I now reside in central ohio
Dave had a flame maple top before it became so prolific...cool...makes sense, I'd just never seen a vid in which he even had that particular custom shop strat.
As one who has been in the industry for years, I highly recommend the "Rush: Snakes & Arrows Tour" documentary if you want a more in-depth & detailed insider view of what the setup is like for a big-production show. I know it's out here on TH-cam in a few different sections. Enjoy!

@jamescourt1000 I think (deduce) this is all raw unedited footage for the MTV Reports. You can see some other news reports on the "newsreels" video. It has the video footage of Echoes and Terminal Frost, some backstage stuff and the interview. Thanks, estebanmejiamesa for all this raw film!
That guitar he is playing there is a 1983 Vintage 1957 re-issue (standard). Cream Colour fitted with EMG pickups, now know as EMG-DG20 set. He used this guitar on his 1984 About Face tour (with diffrent pickups then) The guitar is the same (just diffrent colour) as the Candy Apple Red he uses on 1987 - 1994 and 2006. He started the 1987 with this cream colour as his main guitar, but after a few gigs he desided that he didn`t like the colour anymore and change to one of the Candy Apple Red which from then became his Main guitar for the rest of the 1987 - 1989 Tour, 1994 Tour and on Shine On during the 2006 Solo tour. By the way last time this Cream colour guitar saw the day of light was during Floyd`s live 8 concert in 2005, if you look closely you could see Tim Renwick changing to it for the second half of Comfortably Numb.
Only took 29 years to see it after the show. Thanks for finding and posting it.
It took me 37 😆
so state-of-the-art system back in the 80's...Amazing how the equipment has changed.... :)
That Vari Lite desk is half the size of desks today! it's insane!!

One of my favorite cab manufacturers!!!
thanks for posting this ! great stuff ! i love backstage stuff , everyone does
Desde que Gilmour lidero el grupo Pink Floyd tomo otro estilo, para mi es mejor el estilo de Gilmour, que el estilo de Waters, cosas de gustos.
Lindo trabalho dos organizadores da melhor banda do planeta! Pink Floyd Forever!!! 🎸🔊🎶🎶🎶

Yeah
She helped him kick his cocaine habit, which was in full swing during this tour,,, the 'party tour'.
@@TheLambLive how you know that?
Yeah his ugly 80s suit he wore
I thought his cocaine problems came during the division bell era...not during AMLOR tour
Couple of them tunes.. Blow my mind

GREAT VIDEOS!!!!

The tedious long hours of preparation so the crowds can have a bit of entertainment.
At 1:20 David is literally playing the beggining to The Endless River or a bit from Let's Get Metaphysical 0_o
For those 6 user who dislike (did i sad that right?): Explain, whats so bad about this documentation.
+LCer boring...
+Alobytes Whitestone Nobody must look at this!!

geez I didn't realise the enormous task the back stage guys had , that looks complicated to set up

@@gavinvalentino1313 awesome thanks. Hadn't heard of it
It looks like a Signature Guitar Co. model. (Just in case you don't know the company, Alex Lifeson used a few for hold Your fire
Exciting
Those speakers led to Funktion one.
I'm assuming those are VARI*LITE. VL2s?
13:13 someone can give the name of those speakers?
Yes they are from "MOTHER FUCKER SPEAKERS R US ! "
Brand: Turbosound, type: Flashlight
There were also some JBL spare driver big boxes on the floor...

JimHawkwind03411 hahaha ... did Roger really say that ! When ?
I thought, they were strictly on Midas
They had an MCI in their studio, and Allen & Heath on tour.
1:13 the guy in white was ready to stage dive
GILMOUR WELCOME TO CHILE COUNTRY

I love pink she’s so cool but who’s this Floyd guy?
the 88 tour sounded better than the 94 one.
I agree. However David Gilmour’s 1984 Hammersmith Odeon London concert with Bad Company guitarist Mick Ralphs is my favorite.
0:49 he is playing a Mary Kaye Strat. I love mine.
Don't think it is a MK Strat as it goes.
That guitar he is playing there is a 1983 Vintage 1957 re-issue (standard). Cream Colour fitted with EMG pickups, now know as EMG-DG20 set.
He used this guitar on his 1984 About Face tour (with diffrent pickups then)

Well when talking about Strats. Cream is not a colour. The colour is Blonde.God I thought i knew about Floyd.
And the neck of the cream colour is now on his Black Strat
Dinner table talk, in 87 I worked on the Pink Floyd pig 8:47 best story ever
what guitar is that @ 3:38
Why Have The Pig and not Play anything from the Animals Album made no sense
mike Braxus It was Rogers Pig
Once the genitalia was added, it was no longer Roger's pig, according to the courts.
paul yoda Made plenty of sense!!
When I saw them in 94' they brought the pigs out for "One of These Days".
what dvd/vhs is this on does anyone know ?
cheers
LOL dvd didnt exist until 1995 ten years later
Once a Roadie, always a Roadie.
What do you do for a living? Tune David Gilmour's guitar.
i love that pig!
cure tshirt @10:56
Dave looks like Jack in the shining.🤣
Or one of the droogs from A Clockwork Orange.
Ok
That pig flew over my head in 88. Now they use helicopters :)
8:27
All the way through it sounded like they're still blowing up the pig... 🤪
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
David be chubby. Weird to see.
GILMOUR?
Is god ............
