I love how instantly Gumshoe goes "I'm working for you now, pal!" after he got fired. He's not giving up on a case that easily! I like that he doesn't have a character arc throughout the series like Edgeworth because he's always wanted to find the truth. He just needs guidance to direct his hard work in the right direction. He's absolutely my favorite character in the series, and this case is a big reason why.

Fransiska gives off a similar feeling as Edgeworth at the beginning. Just more egotistical. But she doesn't feel like a bad person unlike her father. Just someone who cares about doing what's right and deep down knows what's right but isn't confronting her feelings and being supportive because he's averse to them and it's hard for her.

It's crazy to think about how good this case is and then remember that the last case was literally Big Top.
Eh I’d still say Big Top is overhated but I agree this is one of the best cases in the series.
Ace Attorney Fun Fact!
Near the beginning of the episode, Maya begins telling a story to Pearl which begins with "This one time, at lawyer camp." This is a paraphrase of the "This one time, at band camp..." line spoken by Alyson Hannigan’s character Michelle Flaherty in the 1999 comedy film American Pie.
If we follow the same logic as the american pie story, then it implies Phoenix has told Maya an off-color joke about shoving something into his own personal anatomy. Since it was lawyer camp in this case, I'm guessing it was a gavel.
You know, when I first played this game I thought “Director Hotti” was shirtless because the color of his clothing is so close to his skin tone (I thought the collar and buttons were part of the stethoscope he’s wearing). I apologize for inflicting that mental image upon you all, but at least it’s not actually the case!

I came back to this video a day later to say that since watching it, I’ve been laughing at Pearl’s soft “Mr. Nick? What the f***?” for an entire day. It keeps coming to mind and it gets me every time.
This episode went from 0 to Cursed in a heartbeat and I loved every second of it! ...It bothers me how good Steve is at that Hotti bit. Truly the sign of good acting!
Great editing this ep, also following up on the conversation yesterday i.e. Edgeworth, I also like now that we see that what he did doesn't go unaddressed. Other characters are commenting on it and reacting to what he did, which is refreshing that it's not just treated as no big deal and that even in the context of what was going on and why he did it, it still clearly made people uncomfortable (as it should)

Telling the truth is what swayed the judge back to possibly pronouncing Engarde guilty! In what world would you encourage someone to PLEAD THE FIFTH in a MURDER TRIAL when you know their crime of tampering with the crime scene makes them more suspicious as the potential murderer??

Prosecuter after lying to a witness about protection, something that does happen a fair amount in real life: She's just a weak person after all
Another interesting layer to this is the hinted outcome of what would have happened if Adrian continued to follow Franziska's advice is that it's the prosecution version of what happened with Yanni Yogi and Robert Hammond. Yanni Yogi was declared innocent on a technicality, but it destroyed his life because people still thought he was guilty. Same thing would have happened here.
@@rebellemuria ...would it? Adrian likely would've been indicted/declared guilty straight-up, since the only reason Engarde wasn't exonerated is because Edgeworth forced Adrian to confess truthfully
@@violetlavi2207In the situation in the game, yes, because Phoenix actually gets to a point where Andrews is incriminated and not Matt. But Andrews is seeing it still in the sense of Franziska's promise to her, she's not seeing the danger of the murder charge that they're aiming at her. She thinks if she doesn't incriminate herself about tampering with the crime scene then Matt will be declared guilty.
However, at the time Franziska told her that, Franziska was setting up Andrews to be the prosecution's version of Robert Hammond and Yanni Yogi.
MAJOR SPOILERS FOR THIS CASE BELOW
Matt's request of Phoenix is SO CRUEL of him oh my god. He knows Maya's being held captive in his house and he makes Phoenix go there anyway, knowing he won't know to look for her there but that he'll be SO CLOSE, the closest he'll ever get
