I have had a few run ins with customs here in germany and going to the customs office to retrieve a package is like going to the hospital. You will wait for at least an hour and have to speak to three people, open the package show them there is no contraband in it (and accept the smirking face and sleazy questions about your miniatures). Then pay the customs fee in an office that looks like its from the 80s (including bullet proof glass). Alternativly (this seems to be automatic since covid) the carrier can pay the customs fee and get a 6 euro fee per package for basicly crediting you. Once i had to pay 18 euros extra for 3 packages which had 2 euro customs each. When the first news from Catalyst came i was thinking either it takes until summer till the next update or i have to get my wallet again because of ridicules extra charges. I will wait with a sigh of relieve until the package is here and counted.

They had a cargo container from Japan get impounded, and they made the contact from our client open up every doll package in front of dozens of inspectors 😂 the lawyer we sent out to help him, told us he got to the warehouse and was greeted by an 'orgy of naked silicone and plastic' 😂😂
Yes. Costs have inflated after Brexit. Basically stopped me from ordering from UK. It now takes weeks to arrive with additional costs (above sales price for small orders). Good to have (reliable) shop in Germany (or Belgium for an altefnative) that has access to all Battletech and Hex Tech.
Businesses survival really surprise me at times. Used to troubleshoot phone and internet problems at businesses and the stories become unreal some days.
That minor miracle of a bureaucratic EU Customs official probably wanted to clear the way for Kickstarter orders was because he's waiting for his order as well.
Yeah the EU update was a bit of a rollercoaster. Best I can say about it is that I'm glad they at least learned how to communicate everything fairly concisely in the past six months: I'd shudder to think how things would have turned out if they hadn't been contacted by someone who recognised the situation and knew a solution. As for the Ozzies: all I can say is you lot have my commiserations
Alice Springs is like visiting the Sahara, but with more crime. Most Aussies are going to be going up and down the coast from their hometown for a local vacation. Remember every real Australian capital is on the sea, Canberra is made up. So for us we leave the gorgeous local beaches with fine clean sand, for gorgeous rural beaches with fine clean sand and no buildings in sight. And if they are going to do a bigger trip, equivalent of going to Spain would be Bali or Thailand. But I think this QML contact might be US based? Most Aussies that aren’t teachers, builders, or taking school kid leave are back at work from the 6th or even 2nd of Jan. i know Aussies give a chill vibe, but generally speaking there’s an expectation that whatever your job you give it a good go. And yes, hand-overs. But the most egregious thing about your Australian skit was that the names are wrong. Clearly we are all called Bruce and Sheila. Bobs’ clearly an American 😂

Maybe Bob went to the Gold Coast or Bondi or Bells Beach, more likely for an Aussie (Torque is near bells, I would go there). The delivery situation is causing so many bad vibes I have had to stop talking about it or the kickstarter at my local club. The excitement is gone here, but I’m still feeling some comfort knowing it going to at least arrive. I’m running an AS event in a month and I’m hoping so much that things are starting to resolve by then so it doesn’t put a dampener on it.
QML isn't on our end in Australia. Aetherworks is distributing once QML has handed it over. QML is the mob who's handled the shipping to Australia. QML can't tell CGL or Aetherworks what the container status is. So it's the middle man who's dropped the ball. But there's still time for Aetherworks to do that as well
From my point of view I'm still waiting for my delivery in the UK - had the address confirmation back in November and nothing since - had paid for the shipping etc back in May last year.
You might want to check with GameQuest, as most people get their order 2 weeks after that confirmation. I certainly did anyway, and that's what most people have been telling me.
I don't think this has a been primarily a problem with labyrinthine EU Customs. I've no doubt the customs process is complicated, but the problem I think was CGL cannibalising the EU order to prioritise orders elsewhere, and (still) being dishonest about it. It's surely their responsibility to ensure that they, or their logistic specialists, understand the required documents/processes and so forth. I don't give any credit to CGL in this instance. Received my address confirmation email today - sympathy to the Aussies.
I'm involved in EU customs. I love battletech. As it stands, I AM a clan player... Not smoke jaguar tho... Got my confirmation yesterday :)
