Space Engine version 0.9.8.0
The music is from Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
Composed by Michael McCann, Sasha Dikiciyan and Ed Harrison
The music playing in the video is not on original soundtrack though. It was ripped from the game.
The purpose of the music is not to share the music, but merely use it as an ambient music for the video. - เกม
it would be more correct to approach the planet aiming at an offset point from it (for example at 100 kms distance from its surface), which becomes our periapsis. once we arrive at that point, we burn in retrograde direction, until the orbit changes from hyperbolic to elliptic.
from then on, one could fine tune inclination and altitudes at leisure, since there are no fuel constraints.
If you have infinite fuel and a lot of time this method is good enough I guess..
But you started out going 9km/s sideways relative to the planet so this is already very good! Once you were in orbit you had to go 14km/s. So you used 9km/s (to cancel out) + 14km/s (to get moving again) = 23km/s of worth of fuel, while 5km/s was enough, by just going prograte(forward) more.
Just doing your thrusters until you finally get the orbit you want is also a bit weird.
I believe the most efficient way to circularize your orbit is to burn prograde at the highest apoapsis, so you go faster and don't fall back to the planet as much anymore. Or burn retrograde (go slower) at the lowest point (periapsis), so you won't go further from the planet anymore, as you would have otherwise. If you do it exactly just before you arrive at apoapsis or periapsis you can get the periapsis and apoapsis altitude the same very easily.
As you might notice, I like doing everything as efficient as possible, although there is infinite fuel. Anyway, it's nice to see more tutorials on spacecraft in space engine.
Thanks for feedback. Well, you have infinite fuel in Space Engine, so why to worry about that? Also, i know i could have use the speed of the ship it laready had when i approached the planet, but then i would have to start in opposite direction, which means the video would be probably recorded on the night side of the planet. So for making the video look prettier, i decided to go the way i did in the video. And in many cases you approach the planet in such a bad way that if you wouldn't slow down, you would crash the surface. Sometime when you approach the planet in retrograde direction of the planet's orbit around its star, you cannot do anything and you crash anyway. Depends how far from the planet you turn off your warp drive of course. By explaining it the way i did, even if i could get my ship into orbit some easier way, i think people will learn better how to deal with such situations. I just wanted to explain the main things. From that, i believe people will learn other stuff themselves. Thanks anyway :)

To be honest whoever played KSP wouldn't find anything hard in making the nice orbit around the planet, the only difficult part is the spaceengine's interface, trying to figure out what any of the buttons do and all the overlycomplicated keybindings. I wonder if this game has more accurate orbital mechanics than ksp, since its kind of a scientifically accurate software as well.
KSP is built like a game, SE is like a sim
the first time you do this, you'll have to go through trial and error, well in my case. the harder the work the more satisfaction you will get after finishing it. Nice Video, it helped alot.
Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you!!! I couldn't find any guides for using ships. This is huge help!
This really helped me! I just now got into an orbit with earth! Thank you!
Very beautiful video dude!
Thanks :)
Looks so easy here... I'm a disaster at it, kinda frustrating.
just installed it cant move anywhere easily unless i do the shift h double g - i dont think we need a space ship simulator to look at the solar system - ffs how hard would it be to make moving about easier
this sware has 3 aims:
1. move
2. look
3. arrange objects
i cant do 1 or 2 - there is not reason moving about should be so badly implemented...
@@GB3770 yeah - I cant believe how disastrous it is implemented
@@HCforLife1 that because your in a different movement mode,
1-free mode- the easiest mode to control
2- spaceship mode-pretty hard since the camera drifts
3- Aircraft mode-guessing its the same since I haven't used it much
just press 1 for free mode and your all good, it took me a while to get used to the game
Thank you for this tutorial. I have now made the Death Star orbit Earth.
OMG ty for the tutorial! Now I can orbit Uranus!
I'm glad it helped you :)
I love Uranus!
XD
thanks, still very useful!,
would be great to have the 2nd vid needed: how to land in the planet.
Cheers!
step 1: casually approach planet
Man, I give up. I think I always end up going too fast and it just snaps out of the planet's gravity to oblivion.
That's the space kraken.
yup this sware has so much potential but making it like a flight simulator is rubbish - i want to look at planets not learn to fly a spaceship....
@@GB3770 fully agree, we want to enjoy the lost in the space xperience not the how to become a NASA pilot xperience :P
@@japp3playzz And comments like: "Just learn to use the software are lame" - I don't have time/learning this software is not my priority/have much more important things to do...
Why they cant use wsad and the mouse for movement is utterly beyond me (scroll wheel for acceleration) - i have no idea how to move from earth to the sun flying past other planets - i spent 5 mins trying to do this and gave up - i watch occasionally videos others have made of this software....
Keep the current controls for the super nerds but add controls i mentioned for people who just want to mess about flying in solar system...
The sware has such potential - solar system siszed sandbox but these controls are so badly thought out...
MANY games have a need for 3d movement - submarines and flight - there is a way to do it intuitively - this software wants you to learn astronavigation before it will let you orbit earth.
No!
:)
@@GB3770 i feel your pain... not easy you have to get used to it. I am begining to learn ...i can tell you that joystick is more difficult, lol. If i fully understand it i will make a tut but its right that you need so much time. They could make an arcade mode, at the end we only want to enjoy the universe. :D. Have a nice day, mate!
Now I can let Deep Space Nine orbit a planet! I hope they make Earth Spacedock one day, so I can let that orbit Earth.
Nice, didn't know you could play KSP on space engine hahaha
Does it have a maneuver system? Can you land the ship on planets/moons?
In a way, you can land on a planet with both a free camera and a ship, but ship control in SE is more of an add-on feature, so don't expect the same effect as in KSP. But it's still the best space simulator in my opinion, incorporating an entire universe! Literally the whole universe Karl! And all those trillion objects fit into 2-4 gigabytes, unbelievable!
@@afgustomurlow It's insane!
I found a wayyy easier way just click the match velocity button go into horizon or prograde orientation (HORIZON ORIENTATION NOT MODE) and accelerate until it says stable orbit, then disable the engines.
what ship is that and by the way awesome video this was very very helpful
well done bro
Thanks :)
Dude thanks!🙂
I wanted to be on the surface, in the shade and look at the rings. post screen copies
So basically sling shot your ship around the planet. That's how you can orbit planets but done manually. Got it. 😊
How did u get rid of the ui and keep the spaceship ui
but how do i use it if i just spawned it in
the velocity button doesnt seem to do anything, pls halp? xd
please do a tutorial teaching how to use the warp drive
Panda Zorrao select target and press g wait and boom
Hello there) please andswer in my few questions:
1. Is it possible to score the spaceships without using "warp" or time scaling modes ? like pressing "forward" button put the score scale (for example 1000km/sec) and the ship will score +1000km in each sec. ??
2. IS it possible to break down ships score also without using previous modes, like if i have got a speed for example 2000km/sec and i slow it down to 1000 in few seconds just using "back" or "S" key ??
Hi, Space Engine is designed to be as physically accurate as possible. So to both questions, the answer is no. You cannot accelerate nor break down the ship this quickly, because it's physically impossible. For fast accelerating, you can use only warp drive or increase time speed. Space Engine isn't like other space video games that has completely wrong physics just so that it's more fun.
Yeah and i guess its very hard for the first time, especially for people who don't understand english well. :(
So much questions occurs during playing and guides are very hard for me, so i deleted it with a big sorry.
P.S. I tried to deccelerate the speed when was close to orbit of another planet, using Retro-engines, but my spaceship didn't stop and speeded-up, not down, so i flyed away :D
You need to understand physics of moving in vacuum. Faster you move, the longer it will take to break down. Remember there is no air in space that would slowing you down by time.
Yes i understand now, but for what we use then retro-engines ? I thought they need to slow down ship in vacuum, because they use energy for back-drafting spaceship opto the posite direction of its velocity. If im not right, then for what they are using ?
P.S. sorry this is very hard for understanding, because official guides are contain much philosophic thoughts and making them hard for understanding. But ty for discussing this )
Retro engines can be used for breaking of course. I'm trying to explain behavior of moving object (spaceship in this case) in vacuum. You were originally basically asking how to accelerate and stop ship fast. So i'm saying that if for example your physical velocity (not speaking about warp drive now, but physical velocity) will be let's say 50% of light speed, there is no way you would slow down your ship fast without accelerating time. You are imagining it like if you were on Earth and was moving 100 mph. In space you are usually moving very fast and there is no air helping you with slowing down. And also, i was trying to say that if there is no air to help you slowing down, that means the ship will move with the same speed forever, until you slow it down. And faster your speed is the longer it takes to slow down you ship. So definitely use retro engine for slowing down your ship, just keep your eyes on your speed if you are expecting to slow down fast, especially if you are approaching some object like planet. It may look like your ship is moving slow when near planet, but that's just because planets are usually huge. But you still might be moving hundreds of miles per sec, so it still may take some time to slow down your ship.
I don't need this I need to know how to fly!!
who played ksp should know how to orbit a ship in space engine without any tutorial (i say this because i played ksp and i know how to do it)
It took some getting used to, But I did it. And I was able to get to the moon. It takes too long to get to Mars though
Do other planets affect my orbit around the moon?
The other planets in the star system doesn't effect your orbit, but the planet around which the moon is orbiting does.
I don't get the same layout in 0.980.
Because i have different layout color. You can change it in options.
Aaaaah, fuck it. It's way too hard.
halp?!!?!? i cant figure out how to get into the ship!!! halp!!!!
There is an icon in shape of ship. Click it and choose which ship you wanna create. Then right clock on the ship and click "controll the ship".
@@viktorzeman7571 how about the left clock huh
