KUIU STORM STAR Summit snow and ice storm. Freezing freedom after lockdown

    I was grumpy and feeling like lockdown would never end. Plus that we have missed out on some great winter conditions. My son woke me with a smack in the face and showed me the date!
    Lockdown was over= time to go camping.
    I was straight out and luckily hit some winter conditions.
    I went with honey dog to a high Northumberland summit to test the Kuiu Storm Star tent. Even though winds were light it was battered with ice and snow overnight, with wind chill around -14c.
    I hope you enjoy this, are well and rebuilding positively.

      I am extremely tempted! It looks a great all round package of design, space,strength and value for money, especially with the 15% discount on the first order. I use a Hilleberg Niak which i love but the Storm Star could be a great companion for it for harsher weather.

    • @Fellmandave1
      @Fellmandave1  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Iain, I am surprisingly on the fence on that one. After my last camp I feel even more that it needs mesh over the vents.Then those porthole doors are good at keeping spindrift out it does make things a bit awkward. I am leaning towards a fjallraven abisko dome 2 (though too heavy)or ahilleberg nammatj 2 or poss a abisko lite 2 or 3. Need to sell some though. Overallall though for solo UK winter the SS is a solid buy.

    Totally agree on the adventure food "chicken curry", I bought one to try at home to see if it was worth taking wild camping with me. My God, I couldn't believe how bland and stodgy it was....6% minute specks of chicken that remained hard after 20, yes, 20 minutes in a bag cozy aswell.
    £5 for a bag of rice, they've got to be kidding. O stars from me that one and I felt dirty and bloated after it. Vile.
    You'd be better off with a king pot noodle and a pepperami chopped into bits. Really bad and like the benchmark for wild camping grub....You can and must do a lot, lot better adventure foods.
