All these compendiums DC are knocking out will look good on the shelf. My only worry is the crease in the spine from a few reads. Would it kill them to make these type of books hardcover. Great overview as per though 👌🏻

Makes me feel better about the blind buy. I normally don’t go for compendiums but as this was a one and done and because the deluxes can be a bit pricy I bit the bullet. Looking forward to reading it.
You can get them hardcover volume 2 and 3 for like 25 bucks on amazon the first volume however that’s expensive

Honestly a wonderful and unique post apocalyptic story. Easily in my top 5. Too bad it doesn't say vertigo on the cover/spine.

beautiful story , one of my best books , I mean its Jeff Lemire , hard to read something bad from him. Deluxe is the way to go for sure

Omar, thanks for doing this. I can’t afford the out of print hardcovers and really didn’t get turned to this until recently (mostly from the show). However, I’m holding off on watching until I read the comics so this seems like the best option outside of reading digitally. Outside of a few quibbles, this looks awesome - just ordered it!
Absolutely love Sweet Tooth. Especially Lemire’s artwork in this + Jose Villarrubia’s colors! Based on the videos, which doesn’t say much, I think I like the quality on the deluxe’s I have vs the glossy paper. The softer colors go better together with that Lemire artwork, IMO. Anyway, great vid! :) Happy for the people reading it for the first time! Algorithm gang!
Great overview Omar, thank you! I like the DC Compendiums so far (the Fables ones are so satisfyingly chunky) and don’t have the deluxes so will be picking this up. That Netflix logo though, urgh!
The netflix logo on this is on the same way as sandman deluxe but that has a audible logo
more potential for spine damage. I can understand DC keeping the price point down but this collected edition would look so nice in an Omni. Thanks for the overview Omar it definitely helps in weighing up the pros and cons of the compendium format.

Sold off all my single issues and picked up this compendium instead, I'd rather have a book I can read than a bunch of singles I'm afraid to touch!
Great review as always. Paperback though?! I'm still waiting on a complete hardcover edition. I guess I'll just stick with my digital copies until we get one. One of my favorite books of all time though. The way Lemire develops all the characters is amazing. You really feel like you know them and truly care for them as everything unfolds. Very emotional tale.

What’s the difference? I don’t know a lot about comics but I watched the first episode of the show and I want to read the comic. I don’t want to buy each volume individually, this compendium is a good option right?

I just saw this had an adaptation on Netflix and I'm assuming I have that to thank for this. I'm a huge Jeff Lemire fan and this has been on my list for a long time but I haven't had much luck finding them cheap. (The 6? Volumes before and the 3 deluxe hardcovers vol.2 and 3 are pretty cheap but 1 was expensive.) I'll prolly get this just to get them all at once and finally get to read it. (Still need to read Saga too.)
A real Shame we didn't get any absolute or Omni,but this will have to do.I have the second and third hardcover,sigh

A quick enjoyable read. Average to above average art. I wouldn’t re-read it but would soft recommend it.

It does. There was a follow up 4 issue mini, but it’s not in this.
Why not an Omnibus, DC? They already have the scans and formats from the Deluxe Editions. They could have bound all three together for a killer omni. Instead...here is a big paperback. *sigh*
Im happy its a paperback, its in my budget and if it was a omnibus i would've never try this series.
@@stephentheshywarrior2759 I'm glad it is getting people to read the series. That's great. I feel like there are other options for that too though. There are paperbacks of several formats already, also digital options through Comixology, DC Universe Infinite, and of course, Hoopla (which is completely free).
Again, I am happy this is an good option for you, it's just not what I was hoping for. DC seems to keep letting many of us down with their choices regarding collected editions.
I really wanted the deluxe editions but I waited a little too long and now vol 1 is being printed with the Netflix characters on the cover and I have no desire to own that. Even if the show is amazing (Haven't seen it) I don't like when comics or books are changed to show new media adaptions

Why did Netflix change the character ' Jeppard ' into a black guy in the TV series..?? Is it to jump on the PC bandwagon and appease the snowflakes..?? Hes white in the books so why change it..??.. I just dont get it..I personally dont care if the original character was white..black..green..purple etc but it pisses me off when they alter the characters..imagine if they did a white Luke cage or a white Shaft..2 characters who are black..it just wouldn't seem right..anyway nice review as always Omar but I'll pass on this as compendiums dont seem to age well.
I really think it was less to "jump on the PC bandwagon", & more that they were looking for the perfect actor & didn't care what race was he is. Nonso Anozie is an amazing choice for the role, that's all that should matter.
@@amandakalei5342 I agree..Nonso is a great Actor as I've seen him in other films but my bone of contention is that they changed the colour/ race of the character for no apparent reason..theres probably tons of great white actors to fill that role so why choose a black guy to portray a white character..??

I am gonna hopefully get 2 for Christmas but I'm loving reading Eternal volume one. Includes issues 1-20.

@@NearMintCondition oh I asked if the compendiums stay in print in case I can’t find all the deluxe editions (4, 5 and 7 are impossible to find so far). And if Jack of fables get a compendium as well

i don't think this will ever be in an omnibus format and it honestly doesn't deserve it. Great story but that art man the art isn't good at all.
See I like Lemires artwork. But I do agree that some art is just fine in normal TPB size.
I really want this but I want the Deluxe Editions way more, and sadly Book 1 seems oop :-( (Great video all the same) :-)
