There are so many reasons I love 100 Bullets. This was my introduction to crime comics. I actually still have the singles to this. To me this felt more like a story about the choices people make and the consequences of these choices. The urban slang never bothered me but I did feel it went on longer than it should have. The end game was a a bit of a let down. I really liked the first half and like you felt it was where it was strongest. I always like the individual stories that had little to do with the bigger story and felt that could have been done as an offshoot at the end of the series like a Tales of 100 Bullets. Interesting fact In Johnny Double an earlier Brian Azarello/Eduardo Risso work characters briefly crossover near the end of that series into the first issue of 100 Bullets. On the train where Agent Graves meets Dizzy, there's a scene of a guy getting robbed that's like an epilogue to Johnny Double.
I gotta get this! Have always heard great things and the art looks awesome seeing you flip through it. Thanks Omar! Tough though because I just bought 4 omnis 😬
If I would have got the Deluxe ed's I wouldn't change them. That size is much more comfortable to read. But since I don't own the series (I did buy and read the first 2 story arcs years ago) I will be buying the Omni!
I loved this series from the first issue to the last. I’m surprised it gets so much flak for its “edge-lordiness” because I feel like it’s deliberate and clever 🤷♂️
I love this series, but probably won't upgrade to an omni with 58 issues. My deluxe hardcovers will suffice. But Omar, could you tell if there was any difference in the colours between the omni and the deluxe? I love Milo! By far the most interesting and complex character of the Minutemen. Wylie would be my close second. But you can't not enjoy Lono's sadistic brutality.
awesome review. in 2004 they were slated to make a game for ps2/xbox but it got canceled which is unfortunate. looked cool i definitely would have tried it.
This series was a lot of fun for me. Read all 100 issues in like a week. Since I sold the tpbs, buying this in Omni format is a little tempting. This to me seems like a good indicator that Scalped will get the Omni treatment one day. 🤞🏽

I liked a lot of the minutemen for different reasons and have a hard time picking one. I always pronounced Milo as "my-low" but I'm a southern guy, (don't hold it against me, I only sound like a hick. I could cast everyone in that book if they did a TV series on it, which they absolutely should. This is probably one of my favorite Vertigo titles, which they were the HBO of comics back in the day. Azzarello and Risso just go together so well. Their first collaboration was a miniseries, Johnny Double, that pretty much green lit 100 Bullets into being. And at 10:35 on your video, (in the very first pages) the guy getting jumped in the orange glasses was a character from Johnny Double. I love that nod Risso threw in there to their previous work. Not many people catch that. But alas, I must hold off from the Omni. I have the 5 hc books. It's the same page size too, so, I'll hold off. But if they do an Absolute edition, I'll probably get those. I do like the look of the Omni though. I like the matte cover and the glossy black book. Makes me think of Graves' attaché case. Thanks for the upload.

It might be a sewn binding but there's also a bunch of glue. Just got my copy today. How does that work? Sewn and glued binding? Marvel doesn't seem to use nearly as much glue and the sewing strings on the binding are really sturdy and visible. I couldn't even see any strings on this book. DC omnis are smaller than Marvel's too. They kinda suck at collected editions and have for a long time. They're getting better though.
@@NearMintCondition Any insight on why certain books use both glue and sewn bindings? And why DC uses more glue and crappy strings for their sewn bindings? This is completely anecdotal but I've had three different Absolute editions where the pages started falling out. I own around 40 Marvel omnis and only one has had pages come loose.
@@NearMintCondition Huh. I've never noticed any books being printed in Mexico. Most of Marvel's are printed in China while DC's are printed in Canada or occasionally Kent, Indiana. And yet, ironically, Marvel's are nicer.

If you want it it's still on instocktrades but yeah at&t just gutted dc personal who were in charge of this omnibus collections books soo who knows. The fucking spine isn't center aswell which dc always does for some reason
@@NearMintCondition thank you! Like I mentioned during the live show on Sat your channel inspired me to create it, just got to get busy with all the content now!
It's a nice looking book, but it's too huge. DC should have made it a 3 Omni set, and charge $100 per book. That way they get their $300 for three books, and that would be same for two books at $150 each. It would be less of a muscle cramp. Always wanted to read this, but I don't know at that size. At least the eye hole is great 👍
Hey Uncanny Omar, I don't think anyone is a fan of animal cruelty. At least no good people. As for the racism, I don't think there is any. People on the streets that are in gangs, etc tend to speak like that regardless of race/ethnicity. If every single character of color spoke like that in a story then that would be racist. I think the characters and their dialogue serves the purpose of the story perfectly.
I always like to point out when things like that are put in books. Just in case some people can't stomach that. I happen to love this book, but can understand why some people couldn't get in to it.
Question: if I go on cheap graphic novels tomorrow this will be available? Because it said it’s sold out as of now. Thank you for your time Omar! Love the show.
Hey Michael, it’s up on CGN right now. Perhaps you just looked a little too earlier and the books didn’t go live for sale yet. They say “out of stock” prior to going live for sale
I personally may not even get volume 2. The series loses a ton of steam after this book and ends on a weird unsatisfying note. In my opinion anyway. But your mileage may vary. You could always sell it on ebay or something if you don't like it. I do that all the time.
Completely understood. I can't say I blame you. I think some people are waiting for volume 2. I think it started so strong but it ended okay. There are some really good moments at the end though.
I would have preferred a reprint of the smaller hardcovers because it looks like such a big book, not so easy to read. But I will still get this as I heard so many good reviews about this story.
its not 5 deluxe editions ? hoo ok there are doing a vol 2 of the omni ok , its too big to read , its like the invincible omni , I will get the deluxe instead and its the same size anyway
Not really sure about the art to be honest. Never read this, only like first two issues. I like the mood, but I found some of the dialogue to be a tough read and not all the characters were easy to tell apart, esp. if they were in the shadows or such. Still, the story was intriguing and I do like Azzarello in general. Might have to just decide based on whether I come across a good deal in the EU ... or not.
Getting this for sure! More like this DC! I’m sure you take a little time from the 50 Batman books you publish every month to do at least a few like this every month!
This omnibus looks great, would love to see the same treatment for Scalped or DMZ or Sandman Mystery Theatre, but I think I'll keep my tpb's of the entire 100 Bullets series...easier to read and I love the trade titles

Yup, milo for me too tho I kinda liked mr shepherd too , AND yeah the ending to such a strong book. * (spoiler)*. Graves an dizzy yeah that was a little disconcerting.
He was the man and yeah that ending.
Omnibus is too fat! But the Artwork and Colors are amazing!
7:33 Thank you so much!
Are we certain that DC won't cancell the second one? This one is already OOP according to previewsworld. I really want to make the switch from the soft cover deluxe editions, but I'm afraid that DC will cancel it because it seems to be their modus operandum.
If you want it it's still on instocktrades but yeah at&t just gutted dc personal who were in charge of this omnibus collections books soo who knows. The fucking spine isn't center aswell which dc always does for some reason
Do you think there’s any chance that Scalped will get this type of omnibus treatment?
One day.
Great review Omar. Do you think they will release the deluxe editions again in the future? Or do you think its unlikely?
I think for now they will focus on the Omnibus.
Will defo getting this, fur shure!
Fo sho!
Really hoping to grab a copy of this!
I hope you get one too. I love your channel name. :)
At least the eye hole is great 👍
I would have been good with that.
Real people in the real bad world do this stuff . The beauty of this book is that it could be happening right now.
I always like to point out when things like that are put in books. Just in case some people can't stomach that. I happen to love this book, but can understand why some people couldn't get in to it.
On that preorder for this one
That's what's up.
Hi Omar, any news on uncanny X men 3 restock? Will the DM cover get restocked as well? Thank you 🥺
Looks like it’s back up now.
@@NearMintCondition wait where? Can't see it on IST or CGN
They put out their stock from 6 to 7pm Pacifi time.
Keeping my original HCs. BUT SO GETTING THIS TOO! Great series to double dip!
Love hearing that.
JESUS that’s a thick book!
YESSIR Thicker than a snicker.
I'm interested in picking this up but I don't want to be left hanging if a Vol. 2 doesn't come out. Is it worth a buy on its own?
I personally may not even get volume 2. The series loses a ton of steam after this book and ends on a weird unsatisfying note. In my opinion anyway.
But your mileage may vary. You could always sell it on ebay or something if you don't like it. I do that all the time.
Completely understood. I can't say I blame you. I think some people are waiting for volume 2. I think it started so strong but it ended okay. There are some really good moments at the end though.
Getting this !!!!! After vol 3 of unchanny x men arrives. 2 weeks in already broke Hahaha
Man, two weeks in.
Are the deluxe editions OOP?
If so Will DC reprint them???
no, never
Some of them are and it doesn't look like they will now.
Love it.
One of the best covers / dust jackets in an Omnibus
Couldn't agree more!
Cowabunga fellow minties 🤙
My dood.
Will there be a vol. 2?
I just got mine for 80 bucks!!! Lucky me!
Just bought the whole run
Solid.
Shinniness = Spot UV printing. Shame they never used any on that cover
I'm good with that cover. Son Goku!
LOVE LONO!!
Is the cover from IST and other DM retailers different?
Not for DC. DC doesn't do DM exclusives.
@@NearMintCondition I didn't think so either. It's weird, the one on TOW for preorder is different.
Omar- pretty sure Lono is pronounced like Lon-o or lawn-o. Could be wrong but I'm pretty sure that's the way it's pronounced.
I will remember that.
I'd love it, but its too expensive for me. Even for a big book, that is pushing (maybe exceeding) the limit of the cost the market will bear.
$150 seems to be the new price for big books.
@@NearMintCondition Yeah. Maybe I'll go full digital with the exception of specific books.
Inflation is killing the USD.
They should just release volume by volume
This is too thick
I would have preferred a reprint of the smaller hardcovers because it looks like such a big book, not so easy to read. But I will still get this as I heard so many good reviews about this story.
Depends on the binding imho and this one looks good.
Big fan of this story.
does this omnibus has the whole story of 100 bullets??
No, we will need another volume .
@@NearMintCondition thank you!
Great overview, Omar
PS not a fan of big bold titles on the spines DC has been doing lately
This is the first one I have liked.
its not 5 deluxe editions ? hoo ok there are doing a vol 2 of the omni ok , its too big to read , its like the invincible omni , I will get the deluxe instead and its the same size anyway
Deluxes are a little harder to find, but maybe not so much now that the omnibus is out.
Compendium expected I hope so
Perhaps one day.
Love this series. I have the tpbs, I'm glad you did a review on this. I am definitely comptemplating on buying this, Thanks Omar.
Glad it was helpful!
👍
Thank you.
Y'all better buy this up with me cause I have heard nothing but good things and I don't want to get halfway through a good story
I really hope we get a second volume solicited.
@@NearMintCondition any word on getting volume 2 omnibus?
Not really sure about the art to be honest. Never read this, only like first two issues. I like the mood, but I found some of the dialogue to be a tough read and not all the characters were easy to tell apart, esp. if they were in the shadows or such. Still, the story was intriguing and I do like Azzarello in general. Might have to just decide based on whether I come across a good deal in the EU ... or not.
Rizzo is one of my favorite artist so I enjoy all his work.
@@NearMintCondition I can tell! :-) Your passion for this story is as infectious as ever.
Definitely picking this up, I have the series on digital so this will be my first physical experience with this story 👀
It needs to be physical. :)
Does DC reprint Deluxe Editions?
I don't think they have.
Getting this for sure! More like this DC! I’m sure you take a little time from the 50 Batman books you publish every month to do at least a few like this every month!
I would love more like this.
This omnibus looks great, would love to see the same treatment for Scalped or DMZ or Sandman Mystery Theatre, but I think I'll keep my tpb's of the entire 100 Bullets series...easier to read and I love the trade titles
Sandman Mystery Theater.
@@NearMintCondition haha, yeah I don't know why the damn auto complete on my phone ocassionally thinks I'm British
okkkk..and here i was about to start getting those hardcovers.. glad I waited!!
Glad you waited.
price?
$150.00
