      @Sidestepadventures Hello Robert.How can I contact you personally? Messenger? Email? I would appreciate you helping me find out if these are my ancestors? 3 members of my family live near there and my uncle is in charge of our family tree.He is 93 now. We know that our family settled in Georgia and that my great-grandfather became a 'Sooner' when he moved to Oklahoma.I would also like to see to the restoration of the place please. Thank you and hope to hear from you.

    I can tell how displeased older Robert is with modern technology, when it comes to building material. He definitely let it be known when things are solid, and built to last. I love it.

    Emma Mullins Davis and family are recorded in Ancestry and Find a Grave. there is no photo of the headstone. Would be great if you could add the family headstone pictures. this is listed as the Williams Cemetery. Find a Grave has 20 records but no photos.

    Robert(s), you guys have motivated me to visit my local cemetery and visit the graves of old Friends and Family. I have a ghost story channel where I talk about my experiences and submitted stories of visits from those who have passed, so I have been thinking about how I would integrate a visit from cemeteries into my usual vibe and I think I've got it. I'm going to introduce the people I know and tell a little story about how I know them, etc. You guys have really inspired me, and hopefully I will be able to inspire others to do the same and to visit their local cemeteries and not forget those who have passed. I'll also dedicate that video to you Robert(s), Cody (and Grandpa). Stay safe and keep up the great work!

    I am reading a book about burial customs in Arkansas, which is where I live, and there are some very interesting articles in this book. It goes back to before the Civil War and concludes in modern day burials. Th The false crypts were to protect the grave from animals and grave robbery. Many, many more interesting facts are found in the book.

    Cedar trees were often planted around old cemeteries. There is an old family cemetery were my great grandfather's parents and grandparents are buried. Buriels are dated from 1840s to about 1900. Several Civil War vets buried there. Its in a field surrounded by cedar trees. A newspaper account of this old cemetery written about 1920 describes it as being surrounded by old cedars. They are still there to this day. It's located in Alabama. Enjoyed your visit to this old family cemetery.

    At Josephine Davis's grave at the flower piece there was that plant that eats bugs, or maybe it was just that the leaves were starting to rot at the edges. I like the way Mustache Robert pulls Cody to talk a bit.

    I appreciate what you two Ga. fellows do, as a avid relic hunter I used to stumble onto 'homesteader's" family and old church cemeteries in the back woods of N. Carolina, and around old plantation homes in Louisiana. It always made me wonder about the lives they lived and how different things were in early America hundreds of years ago.......JM

    Is it possible that Capt. Ben Williams was related to Pvt Benjamin F Williams, the youngest Civil War soldier you found in Stewart County and his father Capt. Nathaniel J Williams? They were buried in family cemeteries, Williams cemetery in Stewart Co. and Williams cemetery in Harris Co. Might be something to research if these 2 families were related. Another awesome thought provoking video Robert.

    • @aliceserna614
      @aliceserna614 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Some of us do. Right down to loading rake, bags, gloves, bleach, brush, the whole she-bang. From the time I was 6 when my mom and uncles were on vacation every other summer we spent on the road visiting alive and dead relatives. I now visit, clean and plant whatever I want as I don't see where anyone else does. I have a family tree and have pictures from as many as I can. I now make sure my kids know which cemeteries our relatives and friends are in and my poor grandbabies are subjected to same. I have memories my cousins don't have and I met great aunt's and uncles they have no clue about.
      Everyone should talk and ask more questions about the past. Maybe one day I'll have all the answers like the other Robert!
