wow your whole theory about why this game ended up this way is extremely solid and i choose to believe it, because i refuse to believe that arkane purposefully made this
Nah. I can *taste* the apathy baked into the code of the game. This is what I'd expect if I held a gun to a reeing twitter user and forced them to make a game about Trump and Jesus saving the world. You can feel the self-hate in every minute of your life you waste playing this.
I just hope they make Prey 2 since it has gotten a lot of traction over the years and is now hailed as one of the great immersive sims. I mean I understand that when it came out, it kinda flopped on sales, but come on there's enough attention on it now to warrant a comeback instead of making these *things* they call games.
Another excellent video! In general the so called triple A games are in a bad state looking at some of the releases of this year. I just really hope people vote with their wallet and force the suits to see this does not work.
Personally I think deaths should been more like borderlands with multiplayer, I find respawing at the safe house super obnoxious on single, let alone multiplayer. I'd prefer anything else like maybe revive in multiplayer, or more localized respawns
I do wonder if their previous games didn't sell enough so they were forced to make something else. Kind of like what EA did to a bunch of their studios. Make them create mediocre games and then shutter them. Micrisoft should look at gamepass like sony looks at their own exclusives. Put resources and time into those games to make the service worthwhile.
Almost worse than the game itself, is the people defending it just because they need to say it's good, since they have nothing else to latch onto with MS or Xbox. After like 5 models of Xbone since the 360, the brand has produced maybe 2 or 3 first party games with any impact at all. Joining Microsoft is basically as bad as joining EA for actually putting out finished products - if not worse now.
Meh it's fine. Though you have to admit it's massively buggy. I do think it's reviews are way too low. It's only bad because it's just not an arkane game. But it's a decent open world shooter.
I actually didn't know that Arkane compared Redfall to FC before I made that comparison myself after trying Redfall for a couple hours and, ironically, after starting a new playthrough on FC6. I made the comparison for the sake of making one point: All hyperbole aside, I'm actually worried that Redfall could mark the beginning of an irreversible downward slope for Game Pass and Xbox titles moving forward. FC6 is what it is: Very little innovation on a tried-and-true formula and I absolutely LOVE IT. It's gorgeous to look at, the mechanics and controls and smooth and intuitive (intuitive at least for those familiar with FC games), and it has a sense of humor that contributes to that unique brand of FC fun. (Chicarron!!!!!) I think the reason why Redfall sucks so comprehensively is not because the world, the mechanics, the combat, the story, everything about it is just undercooked and bad; to some extent, those issues could, in theory, be fixed over time. No, Redfall sucks because, like FC6, it was never meant to be innovative. It's just a tired and broken take on an already-tired genre that demonstrates ZERO imagination. This was obviously known well before release, yet they continued to hype it like it deserved the expectations for the next big Xbox Triple A release. Implication: Knowingly lying to us is an essential part of the business model at this point. Even if Starfield absolutely kills it, I don't think I'll ever trust them again. Best case scenario for Redfall - if they had done everything perfectly with the game - is that it would have been maybe a $20 game that you'd pick up on sale sometime down the road just because it's an Arkane title. If this shit is what Xbox is going hangs its reputation on, knowing in advance that it's shit, then.... Well, so long Xbox, we had some good years.
Yeah my issue with FC 6 is that i just like it way way less than 2, 3,4 and 5. I think it's too early to think this is a downward trend. Redfall was started during Zenimaxs run and they actually do have many interesting titles coming. I actually fully expect Starfield to be good. Fallout 4 had many issues but that was still a really good fucking game in many ways and i expect Starfield to be a systems heavy, classic Bethesda game with a dumb story and really cool systems. I expect Hellblade and Avowed to be good. Id is amazing so their next game will be great. Machine Games Indiana Jones game is likely to be good as their narratives are very well done. And then Arkane Lyon is apparently working on a big game and supposedly Deathloop was a small game that was developed as they were working on their next big project. It's dire right now but i honestly think it's about to turn around.
“You quickly realize that you are just using lock picks to get more money to buy more lock picks.” This is literally the antithesis of the Arkane game design philosophy that we know and love. I refuse to believe that this is made by the same studio who brought us gems like Prey and Prey mooncrash, what the hell is going on in Arkane right now??
Played it all the way through. It was okay. Story kept me intrigued enough. But makers of prey to this is crazy to think on. If I'm being real, this feels like a horde shooter. Or has elements of it.
I played it all the way through. You didn't miss anything at all. By the point your game bugged out you had already seen all weapon types and variants. There's only two legendary versions of each gun type. I agree with everything said here. Even felt the same way. Just so dissapointing! They had a cool base idea, too bad they couldn't decide what to do with it and released this raw concept game instead.
"which will eventually be fixed." listening to you serial defenders finding everyway to defend broken slop is exactly why live services took this industry. Not just buying, arguing in denial. Get a grip. Learn from your mistakes. You don't know the future & never will or you'd win the lottery.
The sad thing is a quality horror immersive sim from Arkane would've been awesome but also might've sold poorly because the general audience seems allergic to this genre even if they're always critically praised. So instead of a great game that sold poorly, they made a crappy game that sold even worse.
I'm loving your videos but please I beg you, change that droning background clown music with the increasing pitch section, it's really annoying unfortunately
Good take on this. I’m one of the six people on the Internet that thinks Prey is overrated, and I’ve never been a huge fan of Arkane, but this debacle has been more fun to listen to than I’ve ever had playing their games.
I think death penalty was glitched. I've seen a negative salvage pop up after respawn more than once. However, Redfall was so bad I unsubbed from gamepass
Interesting. That's entirely possible as the game is loaded with bugs. The ladders not really working is really a terrible sign. I can KINDA understand MS thinking, "This is a disaster so let's just release the damn thing and move on.". But not asking $70 bucks for it. How different would the reaction be if they'd priced it at $40 on steam?
You started the video off by saying if mass effect andromeda was called something else it would have been considered completely fine but then went on to say considering prey and arkanes past history that it cements how bad redfall is. I don't like redfall but you just contradicted yourself, either the previous games studios make, makes a difference matters or it doesn't. Andromeda was sub par and based on their previous games that made its quality even more egregious, same for redfall, from dishonored and prey to this just makes it all the more worse. You can't really say if x was called y itd be received different, because x is still called x and it failed. We can't talk about potential we can only talk about what we got.
The graphics look dreadful uncharted did it way better than this you should have standards praising this beginning to question about people shilling for bad quality.
Well I'm not actually an xbox guy. I'm a PC player. I have a PS5, Xbox and switch but i mostly play on PC. As to BOTW check it out. I find open world games generally annoying because you spend a ton of time just walking around. Then there's the issue that every single problem is solved by opening the menu. Cold? Open the menu. Hot? Open the menu. Out of stamina? Open the menu. Need to heal? Open the menu. It's raining and now you can't do anything? Open the menu and make a fire. Lightning? Open the menu and unequip armor. You eventually over come the games annoyance. The ridiculously small stamina pool that means you can sprint for literally 3 seconds is eventually dealt with but you spend hours only being able to sprint for 3 seconds. It's an interesting but also insanely tedious game at times. I didn't find hiding from the rain interesting. The physics stuff is amazing and so far the new game is indeed better, but it's still a big ass, empty open world game with no story and bad combat. Give me 20 hours of Bloodborne or the arenas of Doom Eternal over 45 minutes of opening my menu any day of the week.
wow your whole theory about why this game ended up this way is extremely solid and i choose to believe it, because i refuse to believe that arkane purposefully made this
Yes agreed. Although I don't think it was Microsoft, I think it was Bethesda. Microsoft probably just rushed the end so they'd have Xbox content
Nah. I can *taste* the apathy baked into the code of the game. This is what I'd expect if I held a gun to a reeing twitter user and forced them to make a game about Trump and Jesus saving the world.

Oh yeah this is a welcome treat this morning. Watching now
i dont evel have the console or PC to play this game, but dayum I cant imagine the new Zelda game doing something like this
Another excellent video!
In general the so called triple A games are in a bad state looking at some of the releases of this year.

A lot of these design features sound like Destiny 2.
Good job Pliny..this was a good watch

I was thinking it then you said it
Not me enjoying the fuck out of this game as you shred it to pieces
Meh it's fine. Though you have to admit it's massively buggy. I do think it's reviews are way too low. It's only bad because it's just not an arkane game. But it's a decent open world shooter.

It's really crazy. That's why it must have originally been an immersive sim. I refuse to believe this was the original vision.
I hated Death loop and thought i was alone with that. To be honest, i always thought their games were overrated.
I won't be playing Redfall, but you've sold me on Prey! It's downloading as we speak. (Have a sub too!)
thank you
Redfall would be perfect as a free to play mobile game
Thank u for honest review ❤
Played it all the way through. It was okay. Story kept me intrigued enough. But makers of prey to this is crazy to think on. If I'm being real, this feels like a horde shooter. Or has elements of it.
That's cool man. I'm a welder too. I imagine if I'm making videos they'd probably be similar to this.good luck with the channel
Thanks!

Good content, subbed
I'm loving your videos but please I beg you, change that droning background clown music with the increasing pitch section, it's really annoying unfortunately
FarCry is a great franchise in its own. I know many people hate FarCry! It’s the norm.
Tbh your review was mostly the reason I gave rage 2 a chance lol
Good take on this. I’m one of the six people on the Internet that thinks Prey is overrated, and I’ve never been a huge fan of Arkane, but this debacle has been more fun to listen to than I’ve ever had playing their games.
Why is redfall broken 😂
I think death penalty was glitched. I've seen a negative salvage pop up after respawn more than once.

Im not sure Redfall is the worst game ever, its just boring.
The graphics look dreadful uncharted did it way better than this you should have standards praising this beginning to question about people shilling for bad quality.
Reminds me of the piece of shit game Bungie made back in 2014.

Zelda BOTW is annoying n bad! This is what is wrong with Xbox gamers. They think that GOTY is annoying
