This song has such a deep meaning, only when you go through life, ud understand. I still feel like I’m finding my way. Ppl will let you down when you need them the most. I’m not talking abt material and financial dependency, I’m referring to emotional support. Iv learnt never to count on anyone but yourself. I listen to this song to find the courage to never give up. Life isn’t easy, you have to find that will to never give up despite your situation. Always remember that there’s someone in this world who shares your struggle. We may be continents apart and not know each other but we in this together. I hope you find some comfort in that. Keep the faith 🙏🏼
The best advice I got from the comments section on TH-cam. Whichever part of the world/universe you are in many thanks 😊 for the advice and encouragement. Just what I needed after facing so many storms in my life.

Oh God the rivers we have to cross with you walking along with us. I am in tears so much tears and so much pain. This song just breaks me but yet fills my cup to understand that one day I will cross that river..
Ali's golden voice is everything and in this song it surpasses the best of the best, a song that makes the heart rejoice in love's hope, yet leaves a feeling of despair, knowing that there is still a ways to go before you're home in love's arms again! Love you guys, since my youth in Hawai'i and still to this day, my heart is evoked with so much emotion by your songs!
Have listened to this song beyond counts and i am still listening to it. Often times i shed tears listening cos i see that the journey of man is the fear of the future except you walk with Christ. Thank you UB40

It's not so much about the person but the way it makes u feel. Music should be designed to all no matter who u are. I was born in a society where I might be influenced by afrobeats but instead I find satisfaction from classical opera, classical, music in general but most importantly not succumb to a definition that other may put me in. When I hear music I like I will take the liberty of enjoying. It is my right to do so. X
Got to know the song while growing up, with my older brother. Each time I hear it, all the love, good times spent came rushing in. Just spoke with him now with the song at the background and his comment was "ah! our song"

Personally I don't think UB40 is/would be the same without Ali Campbell's unique voice. Only just discovered this song, Mum and dad were massive UB40 fans back in the day and I already love Kingston Town but I'm 2 months away from 30 so I never fully listened to them in my youth. This song is my new obsession and Ali makes it sound amazing!.
I cant listen to UB40 without the vocals of Ali. Loved them back in the 80s, saw them in concert in early 90s and met them, still love their music today. Got to be Ali singing for me though x

Used to listen to ub40 in the car with my dad all the time, then this song would come on and it was the perfect lonely road anthem. Haven't seen my dad in 7 years this brings back so much memories
My mom used to looove this song from when I was just a kid(6yo), saying "as we enter the gates of heaven" while singing along. I'm 36yo now and she passed last week- 8 April 2024. Hope she's singing it.
Couldn't go through all of the comments to check but as much as I love the tune, nobody has yet commented on the amount of UK soul & lovers rock royalty making cameo appearances in the video! It's like a who's who of the early 80s. Musical youth, Carol Thompson, Ruby Turner, Janet Kay, Azwad..... sorry if I've missed anyone. Love watching this vid when it came out for that reason. At the time these artist who paved the way were not getting the recognition they so rightly deserved from the music industry. Big up to UB40 for featuring them on this video and immortalising them in some way. Ps: if you're not familiar with these names, do yourself a favour and look up their material un Youtub now!

One of UB40's greatest songs. It reminds me of 1983 as a kid, this song used to air a lot with Red Red Wine on the telly.
Ali Mkenya wewe??
They released it as the next single after Red Red Wine got to number 1 here in the UK,and it reached number 16 by Christmas 1983.

This such a beautiful song sang with such heart and pure goodness
My mom used to looove this song from when I was just a kid(6yo), saying "as we enter the gates of heaven" while singing along. I'm 36yo now and she passed last week- 8 April 2024. Hope she's singing it.
I had great memories as a child grew up listening to ub40 ❤❤❤❤

Great reply I love this song as well Jimmy Cliff sang it but this version is also great 👍
Couldn't go through all of the comments to check but as much as I love the tune, nobody has yet commented on the amount of UK soul & lovers rock royalty making cameo appearances in the video!
