intersting... first time i seen redtent repair. However worrying that metal parts are live. Might be an interesting video to go thru chassis to show what not to touch on an array of chassis that u are aware has strong voltage
Great video. What about going live? Just an eve to chill with the boys… repairing… Gameplay… Closing procedure at the Arcade?? Christmas Eve? Looking forward to content. Congrats.
In my experience the scan coils burn up where they touch the rubber wedges. Chemical reaction. I always cover the wedges with one small strip of electrical tape.

Awesome video Mike. Question: What is the purpose of measure impedence on the four wires on the yoke? I have an 1801 that blew the flyback but I'm not sure if the yoke is burned up (short of taking off and inspecting). What will out of range impedence mean?
Thank you. The impedance is based on the number of windings on the yoke. Impedance is the effective resistance of the circuit, so it needs to be correct/withing the tolerance range of what the chassis requires or the chassis can be damaged. That's why it's not just about the ohms when reading the windings, the impedance is more important. The B+ runs through the yoke and any number of things can get damaged if the impedance is not correct. The K7000 yoke just happens to be within all the tolerance levels and can be dropped right in as a replacement on the 1801. You can measure your yoke to see. If it read close to what I measured in the video, you should be fine. A burned up flyback won't generally cause a yoke to fail.
The purity ring needs adjustment. Proof was when you demagnetised it. Seriously the magnet magnetises and the ac degassing coil demagnetises 😊won’t fix it self over time
Hey Mike, don’t kill yourself trying to do too much! I appreciate every video, but make sure you take care of yourself too!
Was gonna say the same
I love it when a plan comes together. THAT IS HOW YOU DO IT! I enjoyed watching it!
Another wicked rebuild by the magician
Holy cow, Mike! I hope you bought a lottery ticket the day you made this video! Awesome work! Keep making awesome videos!!
PS - Curious if you could make a video showcasing your PCB test rig - I'd like to see how you have that SNES controller hooked up :)
I’m using this…

NEVER!? That's an awesome trick! Way better than plugging a doner coil into mains as I've tried before.

I've thought about that, but I don't have the setup or equipment for live streaming. Maybe someday.
Smeggin awesome repair sir !
You have the best luck. Here I was thinking finally I get to see a convergence video! but noooo, its perfect first try! lol great job
lol. Me too!

That convergence..... Amateur channel my ass.
Much Love.

The color issues is because you have a gigantic transformer right next to the CRT. LOL. Nice job Mike!
Actually, I ended up needing to scoot the yoke back slightly.
Hey Mike, ever worked on a D9200 chassis??
