  • @Charlie-j6t8v

    Just to explain in a little detail here when you move the value to 99%, then turbo boost doesn't kick on when your CPU is maxed out. So this is going to work on older CPUs that tend to run at 100% usage during gaming. Instead of putting the minimum processor state to 99 I would put that to 1%, so that your CPU can down clock when available cooling the CPU even further. This goes really well with undervolting your GPU which can reduce the temperatures by 20° C without sacrificing any performance at all and can even overclock the memory at the same time

    • @Sree05
      @Sree05  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      There is a limit where you can't go further down on clock speed.
      I mean if 95% does 3.4 ghz and depending on the cpu, even if you change 95 -> 85 thr clock speed remain 3.4ghz in some CPU.
      In GPU heavy games you won't lose a single fps even in 1% lows.
      Currently I use this method on ryzen 9 5900x with almost 30 degree less temp and no fps loss or hiccups.

    • @fr3sh929
      @fr3sh929 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Sree05 Sorry I should've made my self clear. I was talking about CPU intensive games. I made this test in cyberpunk 2077 and from 100 to 95 I lost about 4 fps and in my old rig I lost about 11fps. I think it really depends on the CPU supply and demand, on High end CPUs the supply surpasses the demand so the fps drop will be almost nonexistent but as the CPU performance downgrades the drops start to become more evident. In the end it does bring down the temperature but it may or may not have costs depending of the CPU

    Excuse me, but mine were already at 100% does changing it to 99% make any noticeable difference? Also what is the optimal percent to keep it at for the lowest heat, I don't really mind for performance.

    • @rajkirangharge983
      @rajkirangharge983 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bringing the max processor state to 99% basically disables the cpu turbo so you will not exceed the base frequency . So lesser temps for lesser performance. You can also disable the turbo from bios of you want. Bumping up the minimum value will just keep the cpu running at higher performance even when there is no load , reducing the life and increasing the power consumption. Some say it causes slight reduction in fps dips due to avoiding the cpu transition from slower state to faster.

    People do realize why the temps drop right? It's because you are limiting the CPU frequency from reaching it's top boost clock by a software method, you can do the same with BIOS settings to drop multiplier of cores to achieve similar results, also other way is to drop TDP from stock to lower value or limit the Core max temperature to your desired value and can do the same thing but with much better results.
