I just had the most hilarious match against Runick. I set up my board with Naturia Exterio and the guy really tried just using his whole hand through. Negated all of them and went to Chain 7😂He scooped

Well, it's the duelist cup. Usually after that event is over they limit or ban cards but these are way too new so Konami will probably ban or limit other cards besides Runick cards. Similar to how Tenyi Swordsoul dominated the previous Duelist Cup and Konami refused to ban Halq or Auroradon but hit other cards instead.
I didn't know they had so many cards that banished. My opponent would usually surrender when they saw I was playing metaphys

Welp Myutants actually like playing against this deck, so far.. I haven't lose to Runick yer, Synthesis can't be stop and pretty snowball quickly to go OTK. Once you break their Fountain on your turn, it's always smells like GG.
Man, runicks are just one of those decks that, for some reason, most competitive players just brush off and say isn't a problem in theory, but is so scummy, that it makes "Trickstar Reincarnation" look like a beloved card by the entire playerbase.
yeah I really like the game it's kinda sad to have to deal with something so frustrating that it pushes you away from the game, swordsoul in it's time try-brigade drytron albaz where all tear 0 and hard to deal with but runics are in a league of their own.
In a best of 1 format it's definitely "worse" but in tcg bo3 it's just a solid engine.
That being said ppl always hype up stuff like this as being so broken it's ruining the game when in reality the game was already ruined by far worse stuff lol

@@NeostormXLMAX I like different things I played despia waay before albaz when I put two masquerade and just watched them burn which was funny and very balanced, but having all these kinds of interruption and board breaking and recycling and draw power all while not milling but banishing your opponents decks is crazy in a best of one especially when all their spells are quick plays!

This is precisely why TCG players aren't experts at what the MD meta will look like because of the MASSIVE amounts of rapid testing you can do in MD ANDDDD the ban lists are so insanely different, ANDDDDD in a best-of-1 format....that it's incredibly difficult to predict with 100% certainty what will always be on top. Sprites and Tears will likely still be strong but what if they AREN'T broken out the gate with preemptive bans? You just never know with Komoney.
Well, in master duel whatever decks were meta or teir one have also been teir one and meta in the tcg and ocg. Also before cards get released in the tcg, alot of tcg players use other yugioh simulations to test the new cards, so most of the time tcg players can predict rightfully if a card or archetype will be meta or good. Master duel has proven to follow the meta of the tcg so far.
runik was meta in the tcg too, with the release of the ishizu cards is just unplayable
@@purgedwithsilver I've seen some of the Splight lines and It's hard to imagine they can compete with a turbo mill deck that can draw like it can. Also, let's not forget, the ban lists are still wildly different, like how dkayed pointed out.

@@bobby45825 tearlaments have been t0 for a year in ocg wich has a ban list similar to master duel, the problem is not spright (even if it is a very strong option against runik since they can easily otk) but ishizu tearlmants.

It’s time to replace harpie duster/lightning storm with cosmic cyclone/evenly matched in master duel. I saw the difference between how TCG and OCG players play runick. So TCG usually adds reasoning/monster gate to mill as many as runick quick spell to maximize the effect of runick fountain, where OCG players play card of demise/pot of duality/pot of desire along with floodgate (skill drain/there only be one/rivalry/etc.) to stop their opponents until they get field spells.
They do both play reasoning/monster gate... I do sure OCG that was initially do that...
Evenly is not helpful since they would still keep the fieldspell. It's x3 Cosmic Cyclone, x3 Imperial Wall x2 anti-spell fragnance.|
EDIT: if you're deck can afford multiple summons the best one would be Spell Canceller.
Does the reasoning/gate version play Cyber Valley unironically in the year of our lord 2022? I ran into that today. They never got to activate it, but seeing this card being played in modern yugioh is so baffling.

Messenger of peace made him pay 100 LP but Munin heals for 1000
He skipped my battle phase and I wanted to die that was so toxic

Same here I don't play the mill runick since it is a lose againts mirror so I just play floodgate runick using skill drain, colossium, messenger of peace and that floodgate that makes each player summon only 2 per turn.

I surprisingly outplayed 2 runick decks with my generaiders. Admittedly I went first both times and boss room saved me a lot.

Eradicator on Labrynth hell yeah, non Labrynth hard to pull bcs it need 2500 ATK Dark. Droll doesn't stop them bcs it works on both turns

To be honest, decks like this are so disgusting. Milling your opponent and stalling until decking out is probably the most boring way to win. I really hope they get included in the next ban lists

Runick wasn't designed with a BO1 format in mind and it shows. At least in a BO3 you can see your opponent is on Runick and side accordingly, but in MD all you can do is main Runick hate cards and hope you don't get matched against any other deck.
Welcome to the side effects of monster spam format for over a decade. We've spent a long time with monsters basically being better spells on legs, easy to summon, etc. Now when spells challenge them, there's not as many solid outs due to what people are accustomed to. Sure you have your 9 maindeck negate monster cards, and your negate monster extra deck stuff, but spells? Now it's akward. Seems konami with the last few decks is trying to bring spells and traps more into the game, instead of just the "draw/search" cards or "negate" stuff.

Yea these mill decks are getting crazy. Like i get that it’s a strategy but it’s so boring to play against. I stopped playing a ygo simulator because of Tears and now in MD we have Runicks.
Every new pack released makes the game worse as paradoxically fewer decks become viable to play competitively.
Exactly! There are decks out there that haven’t even got all their support yet but have been in the game since day one! By the time they get their support the game will be infested with tier 0 decks that you will no longer be able to play any other deck. You’ll have to conform.
On top of that, the cards they release now for these busted decks are not once per turn but then have the nerve to once power turn your support that is no way near as busted as the newer stuff!

That's not true in the slightest. With every new deck that's out old ones come back into play to counter em. Metaphys completely shuts down runick. So do many other older decks.

having played enough Duelist Cup for now i can safely say every single Duel with Runick is a terrible drag. Still way below Barrier Statue Floo when it comes to toxicity and the duel is not unwinable. Evenly Matched ruins this deck. And of all the duels i only lost once against them with Nekroz Dogmatika of all things.
Also my huge salute to all Runick players out there. You're having a dragged 30min match every time which is not even a guaranteed win. your tenacity is unheard of
Runics suck ass I agree with you, but as a stall player I disagree with your take on dragged out matches, I mean you can just surrender if it's taking too long

Yesterday i wanted to share my experience on discord. And said about this deck being broken. Answer's wasn't what I expected, they actually was talking about this deck being tier3.

I said the same thing, they are very copium players who has 0 brains. They like this deck so much since it requires little to no effort.
This has: Resource looping.
Resource looping for a mill deck is one of the dumbest thing ever, not to mention the quickplay spells have very useful effects that has cherry on top. people who thinks this deck are weak are either stupid or on copium. The deck can outgrind tier 0 and most decks in a long run mostly due to the fieldspell returning 3 and drawing 3.
Even ELDLICH can NOT do that, their resources are very limited and you can outgrind them. Their traps gets banished to be replaced which at most are limited to 1 - 3 copies. Eldlich the golden lord himself is also very vulnerable against called by or banishing effects.
Banishing is such a stupid mechanic. Imagine this if the Runic Archetype Mills card to graveyard instead of banishing it. they wouldn't be as strong.
@@marclenraymagdaraog691 I play this deck in irl tournaments. This NEVER is beating t0. Not once, can you beat tearalament/ishizu. Period. Claiming it does is HARD copium.
Also banish exists because the graveyard has become a plus one for almost every competitive deck. They need that space to limit some things.
Also this deck's skill is not about spamming the same 2-3 combo that other decks do(yes I play plenty of competitive decks, and they all have essentially 2-3 combos for 95% of plays), but in responding to opponents with what you draw into.
You can also play Mecha phantom beast olion and ash to be summoned off reasoning and monster gate, they were playing them in the ocg for synchro plays and more bodies from the tokens

just when people were annoyed by the floowandreeze deck. this shit comes up. what's the point of a deck that it main core strategy is to deck out your opponent? is it to win? when did yu gi oh became just play to win instead of playing for fun??
instead of calculating your opponent next move and play around it, you just banish their deck and sit and watch them deck out. this really remove the challenge from the game and turns it into a game where you win by cheap moves.
I wonder if komoni next new deck will be pay money and get an exclusive card that if you play it you insta win or force your opponent to surrender without a choice.

I won low-mid diff ... guess he also played first time or i was lucky af, cause i outed his 1st turn board with "evenly matched" and he was about "no cards in hand... need heart of cards"... TBH i not hate runick deck, the way runick to win a duel is very interesting. I more hate to duel againt floodgate deck or turn 1 with soo many omni negate board and u die in turn 3. I think the only why people hate runick not because the banish card, but because runick deck can gain soo many card advantage so runick never run out of card to disturb ur play. If u only can use field spell effect on ur turn, my runick deck will become less annoying

More reason to play Imperial Iron Wall. More and more deck banish cards, this floodgate maybe gets its turn to be played.
Mirrojade, Branded in Red, Floo, etc can be crippled.
The question is, which deck you would use that doesn't banish as much?
Blue-eyes deck in general is a very compatible with continuous traps and it doesn't rely on inherent banishing effect as much as other deck.

Try this deck version. I forgot about heat wave until earlier and it is making people quit quickly. Just have to either chain a runick spell to the activation of heat wave to get your runick fusion out or activate the quick play during your draw or standby phase
This is based, I met a lot of Runick in Duelist Cup and most of them at least have 3 or more floodgates in their field.

This deck has some easy ways to stop it, but MAN is it annoying if you can't get to them in time. Combos that hinge on key 1 ofs can also get absolutely destroyed by this thing, making it rough to try to play any deck at "optimal ratios" or that has inportant cards on the banlist.
As an engine it's a fun novelty to mess around with that can add some interesting utility to other decks(the TCG is using it in Spright and Naturia for example), but the floodgate builds are some of the most heinous stuff imaginable.
Konami is really trying to lose players with these kind of toxic and boring decks lol

Haven’t played masterduel since the update. I’m now very fucking terrified.
Chaos Hunter has her Stonks really high right now. She’s alright but you cannot do anything against Freezing and Flashing.
Runick is extremely toxic in a Bo1 format. Maybe the backlash will be so terrible in terms of complains and/or quits that Konami will consider changing some things about the game. But knowing them, they will limit TCaBOO, semi-limit Fountain then call it a day.
Edit : Never mind, the rulings apparently say that you cannot use the non SS effect of Runick cards if she’s on the field. Gonna craft her real quick.

Chaos Hunter isn't terrible, but you need to deal with the field spell, get rid of the dog fusion without triggering its effect and OTK them or they can just get the field spell back and start cycling their cards again.
People complain about high-power mid-range decks like Branded Despia and Tri-Zoo but at least you get a chance to play against them. Fountain being a soft once per turn is so stupid man.
That easy to obtain draw 3 as a once per turn on a fieldspell is just..... Why not just unban pot of greed.

This Elder Scrolls archetype is really fun and broken! Looking at the artwork, it's almost like they designed it to be first person with the spells, you as the player are the one on the battlefield and sometimes having your fusion companion monsters be summoned to help you out lol.

I battled a guy with this deck before he came out with a video and I was just in a constant boring wait as I had all my cards constantly banished. I want this deck banned. The duel lasted for like 15 minutes; 15 minutes of complete suffering.

They are not true Runick fans. As a true runick fan I welcome an actual challenge. Only had one gren deck to battle but was legit fun.
Thanks to this I beat a runick deck on first try. Negated the hugin. Banished the field spell. Almost lost by timeout literally had 1 sec. And 8 cards left in the deck lol. Swordsoul tenyi can still compete. I'd argue any deck that benefits from banished cards with negates could compete. Not sure how my other decks would handle this.
Good to see Konami releasing more degenerate decks that will make players quit the game. Like I'm okay with Branded Despia and even Floowandereeze had its weaknesses but this shit? come on.
This deck needs an immediate ban hit. Like NOW. In best-of-3 you can side in something to help to at least reduce the toxicity. But in best-of-1 it's just ridiculous.
They don't even battle. At least other top-tier decks like Branded Despia are battle decks. This is just "sit back and watch other guy play solitaire for half an hour while your deck is milled down".
Runicks wouldn't be such bs if their only downside wasn't infinitly selling off their battle phase that they already sold off. It's like being able to infinitly discard the same card without ever really discarding it
Ugh, these Runicks players are annoying, I must have dueled like 12 of them today, with mixed results. My first encounters were loses were I didn't knew what the deck was about. Then I realized I needed more backrow removal after 9 turns of blowing one card at a time with salamangreat foxy.
I added galaxy cyclone and twin twisters.
Some of the time the player would use Dimension Fisure, There can be only one and skill drain at the same time. Any time I tried to further my advantage I would get interrupted, making link climb almost impossible. Then I saw some pretty interesting combinations, like Invoked Runicks (I won) and Assault mode engine Runicks (which I lost). Really waiting for this deck to get some cards banned.
Weird, one Runick player didn't seem to like having to pay taxes to my x2 Masquerade on the field...
Im salty at Konami for still have dragoon banned and NOT releasing the ritual dark magicians.

@Dkayed: Right their you could have been reported for slow play, why because you win by just ending your turn since your opponent was force to draw with nothing else, but you kept on playing more card, and then more card, and then more card, and then even more card.
A lot of people in the comments throwing around the phrase "tier 0" but I don't think they know what that phrase means
