    Thanks, I enjoyed the history of the farm. I have a truck patch garden and have been thinking of expanding and doing farmers markets. Went to a few this morning and was disappointed that more crafts were sold than veggies. Have 3 more to look at next week but heck, i could provide a lot more, just need help selling. Love the Channel

    Jason, when I found out that you are a runner, that was a very a-ha moment. I used to run long cross-country and dominate. Don't have time for that anymore but have a lot of good memories. Running like that really helps the mind and focus. I can see that in your organization of things and leadership. I am going to see if I can set up a trailer for next season to sell our produce and fruit at the market just like yours. There will be some differences but will be very close to your parameters.
    Really enjoyed your sharing of your history. Our farm started in 1865 and we still carry water licenses from the 1800s so we can keep everything going.
    Keep bring them to TH-cam, Jason.

      You might appreciate this: I also compete in FKT's, fastest known times, there is an actual a website and a governing body for this and it's world wide. It's basically an individual speed record on a trail, and there is no second place, only the newest fastest time is recorded on the site. There are three styles, supported, unsupported and self supported. I've held about 6 different ones over the years, they have all gotten beated except one currently. I held all three catagories on the 350 mile Sheltowee Trace in Daniel Boone NF in Kentucky and TN over the past 5 years. I still hold the supported record of 6 days and 9 hours...56 miles per average per day of run/walk...it was brutal!
      Amazing how long your farm has been in the family, that is awesome! Thanks so much!

    Summer is sure a rush. At our peak we ran the 6115m in creeper mode with 1 catcher for 2 bins and 3 pickers. We're smaller now. Our market takes about 300 melons and 3 bins of watermelon. It's interesting to see how the markets work up there. I think the farmers market farmer is probably taking the most complicated job there is. We're down to our last melon field in a couple weeks, looking forward to the rest.

    • @wishwellfarms
      @wishwellfarms  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      complicated is a good way to put it. sometimes not sure it's worth all the stress with how intense the summers are. definitely scaling back some more next year....we are already scaled back about 20% from where we were 10 years ago, but I can't keep this up without a full time farm manager helping me out.

    What tractor would you recommend for a good do all? It needs to run a 2550 mulch layer, transplanter, and till soil. Also pull a 7000 planter. Thinking 4020. Or would a 3020 work? Diesel or gas? I want to do 10 acres next year mixed of plastic vegetables, then pumpkins and sweet corn fields

    • @wishwellfarms
      @wishwellfarms  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think a 3020 would work for everything you mentioned other than possibly the tillage. It all depends what you are pulling and how deep you want to go, but it would definitely be helpful to have a 4 x 4 for that or at least 4020. Our 4230 can pull a three bottom plow, but I don’t moldboard plow anymore, just chisel plow with a large 4 x 4. Another good all purpose tracker would be the 4010, we love ours, and all these tractors are diesel by the way I would not go with gas.

    • @jerryriggedadventures3173
      @jerryriggedadventures3173 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@wishwellfarms thanks for the response! I’ll keep watching local auctions aswell. My dad has a jd 301a diesel that’s a great tractor so I think any of what you listed makes sense

    • @wishwellfarms
      @wishwellfarms  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@jerryriggedadventures3173 I really don't, because the only 4x4 we have on our farm is a big case magnum MX215 for pulling our 12 row corn planter on our grain farm.
