I'm retired, so I don't have any quiz's tomorrow or any other day. I read the summary and can't believe that any women would leave her children, for anything. If I left, I would take my children with me. Nobody would raise my children but me.
u obviously didn’t understand the play then. the whole point ibsen bring ups is that nora cannot truly find out who she is with the influence of torvald and her children and the entire “doll house” she’s in. ibsen also uses setting to help this idea. this is Victorian era. she left because she knew the maid would be able to take better care of her children than she could. there’s also no possible way a women during this time could financially support both herself and 3 children considering it’s out of the norm for a woman to work in general.
That's a good point. The updated reading attempts to shoehorn the play into an agenda that doesn't really make sense. Nora wanting to take charge of her life is admirable but leaving her children doesn't quite add up. Ignoring Mrs. Linde in deference to Nora doesn't make much sense either. There's more here than people are willing to accept.
