There are beautiful beaches all along the Eastern and Western Coastlines of the US! I live in Massachusetts and the beaches of CAPE COD are beautiful but it's the Atlantic Ocean here on the Eastern Coastline vs the Pacific Ocean on the Western Coastline!

Lots of Portuguese in California. My grandparents immigrated many years ago. When I visited Portugal, the weather was similar to my Northern California home. Thank you for your interest in our country and my state. You are right about the expense. Pray God for guidance and a lovely trip. You will have a good time. And don't compare your English to Sean. I lived at the Presidio of Monterey while attending the Defense Language Institute almost 3 decades ago. That 17-mile drove between Monterey & Carmel certainly is breathtaking. I took my mother for a ride there, and she instantly absolutely fell in love with it. And as a side note, Monterey is only about an hour south from San Francisco & Silicon Valley.

It's so cool to see America through the eyes of those who don't live here. We who live here sometimes forget what all there is to see in our own backyard. We live and work here day to day not always being able to or getting the chance to see it all. Thank you for sharing how you feel about our country. Take care, keep safe and if/when you have a chance to come to our shores may you enjoy it.

California beaches and Florida beaches are so different you can't call one state's beaches better. The Pacific Ocean in CA is always cold, and generally has bigger waves. In Florida the Atlantic and Gulf beaches have warm water 8 to 9 months a year, and smaller waves except when there is a storm nearby.

I was going to say how much I love Big Sur, and sure enough, it popped right up in the pre-roll. Both Florida and California have beautiful coastlines, but you can probably only afford to live in one of them. Also, there's a reason why when Ford made an electric version of the Mustang, they made a "California Route 1 Edition". Also, if you've seen movies starring Clint Eastwood (usually westerns), he was the mayor of Carmel-by-the-Sea.

There's the 101 and then there's the 1 - and he's on the 1 which hugs the coast all the way up and down the coast. Sometimes the 1 turns into the 101 when the 101 also starts hugging the coast. A great trip to take. And you can't swim in that ocean - very very cold. SoCal you can but still not that warm.

This is used by people from LA maze zone and other States, and is not normal speech for Central and Northern California.
Just 1 or 101, perhaps Highway 1 or 101 if talking to a visitor who does not know the numbering is highways and freeways.

Yes, vehicles can have heated and/or air conditioning options for the seats. In warm climates like Southern California, especially with a black interior the seats can get so hot if the car has been sitting in the sun it’s unbearably hot. And in cold climates the interior of the car can be quite cold, so the heated option is great. And he drove right past a great viewpoint on Mulholland Drive.

The California Coastline is 840 miles long. And yes it’s beautiful. I went to California in 1975 and went to Sequoia National Park and it was absolutely stunning. My Aunt lived in LA and we stayed there for 2 days. They had a beautiful swimming pool in the back garden that was so awesome. My mother and I went by Greyhound Bus , took us 3 days and nights to get there. After that we visited a boyfriend in the middle of California, stayed there for 2 weeks., we had a wonderful time. California is a very beautiful place to visit. This whole country is amazing. The West Coast stretches from California to Oregon to Washington State the up to Alaska. This is a beautiful country in my opinion. I live in Mississippi on the Gulf Coast. It’s very hot and humid here. Florida is about a 2 hour drive from Mississippi and the beaches are beautiful there too. I hope you can visit one day but you may not want to go back. Sending many blessings your way.

The Pacific Ocean along the West Coast is clearer, but colder due to currents. The Atlantic Ocean along the East Coast is warmer due to those same currents. In general they move clockwise around the ocean, so on the West Coast you have cold water coming down from the Arctic, which takes time to warm up, and on the East Coast you have water coming up from the tropics, which is already warm and takes time to cool down.

I used to live over the mountain from there! That drive (PCH, aka Pacific Coast Highway 1) is absolutely gorgeous. Santa Cruz down to Big Sur was our usual drive whenever family/friends would come visit.
17 Mile Drive in Carmel is incredible.
Point Lobos just North of that spot is also amazing.
Monterey is a beautiful spot with one of the best Aquariums in the world.
Big Sur is beautiful; Pfeiffer State Park has an iconic waterfall right on the beach.
The bridge along the coast well known for Apple desktops is Bixby Bridge. As a matter of fact, most of the Apple desktops for both phone, tablet, and laptop/desktops are photos from either that area or Yosemite to the North East. California nature is perfection.
edit: yes, elephant seals stink BIG TIME.
All along the coast there are tremendous quantities of wildlife, from giant California Sea otters, to various types of seals & sea lions, and massive Great White Sharks, whales, and incredible octopus. The kelp forests are 30 meters tall, home to an abundance of sea life.

I have done this road trip many times, by myself, with friends and with family. If you come to California this a must do road trip. The one thing I mentoned on Shaun's video is that you have to stop and visit The Hearst Castle State park. You have to pay for the tour, and you should, the view from "La Cuesta Encantada" is breath taking especially from the Neptune Pool. Though the indoor pool is not to be out done.

31 - I was born and raised in San Diego, California. Yes, I drive a Mustang convertible. It's a 2004 40th anniversary edition, deep red with tan interior and ragtop. It's an eight cylinder gas hog. It's also not built for comfort, so long trips can get a bit tiresome.

The water off of Florida is warm, not so much off of California.

The water is nice, but it's very cold. Somewhat warmer in Southern California.

I have lived along the Florida coast. My favorite beach is Padre Island that runs along the southern coast of Texas. The majority of it allows driving on the beach and the sand is soft. My second favorite beach was any of them on the Big Island, Hawai’i.
South Texas has palm trees too. They do get taken down every few years due to hurricanes but are replaced.

CA and the PNW all the way if you’re looking for stunning scenery, surfing, lovely seaside towns, gorgeous cliffs, beaches w great geography…blow holes, punch bowls, tidal pools, trails and parks to explore etc. It’s the best for a road trip! If you just want to go and lay on a beach in the sun at a hotel then Florida has warmer water. Personally, I get bored after 30 mins just sitting there.

31 - I always stay til the end. Florida is unique because you can watch the sunrise on the Atlantic Ocean side of Florida, then drive just a few hours and later watch the sunset on the Gulf of Mexico side. Two different looking oceans same day greatness.

Starting in Carmel is nice. Did you know that Clint Eastwood used to be the mayor of Carmel? Watching you from Dallas! Love your channel!
