- Here is my 2010 Ford F-150. I decided to upgrade the speakers in this truck since they were blown out from playing load music on long road trips. I hope you enjoy.

I enjoy watching these non professional videos, taking things apart with random tools and shortcuts to get the job done. Reminds me of when I was younger and would hack stuff together in my vehicle. I specifically like how you left the panel attached, to be honest I don’t want to take stuff off if I don’t have to so this helped.
The flathead for your extension perfect 😂
Good video. I like how they show the real and genuine struggles and road bumps, unlike most other videos. No...stuff does not usually just pop "right off" so easily...it takes some love and jigglin to get it loose. This videos shows that. Thank you!
Couldn't find any comments on how creative these kids are. They used a flat head screwdriver to turn a socket and an adjustable wrench to take out a screw. Very unconventional methods. I love it; will be adding that to my lists of tricks. XD
Thanks for the positivity, your comment is great. I didn’t have a lot of tools in college but still got my jobs done!
you should of used the black plastic covers off the old speakers, pry them off and use on new ones. isolates the sounds into the cab. wont just bounce around inside of door.
“What a satisfying click” that was at the end. Great video, Justin!
Thank you! Thanks for helping man!!
Great stuff! Very informative video for me since this is the first time I'll be replacing the existing junk. Thank you!
You are welcome
Thanks for making the video. I know I needed speaker connectors but did not know which ones until watching your video and the description provided the answer! Thank you.
No problem 👍
Very helpful! Got the driver and passenger side speakers changed out with help from my 8yr old daughter. Mommy and daughter bonding time while Daddy is at work.
That is awesome
Top notch video gents -- the links were incredibly helpful too. Thanks much -- sorted this out in about 15 minutes thanks to this!
Thank you!
You guys nailed this video... it isn't as "Easy" as everyone likes to make it seem. You showed the TRUE process, legend, Appreciate it dudes 🤟
Edit: I didn't realise it until the end of the video but I bought the same Rockford Fosgate R1's... you got good taste in Speakers lol
It's good to see young guys still diy'ing it.
Can't thank you guys enough. Fairly easy because of your video...hardest part was getting the electrical door connections back in to place. You guys had 2, my 2012 F150 had four. But a lot of patience ...and a hand mirror helped! 🙂 Also, no tool on earth fits the size of the 4 screws that the geniuses at Ford used to mount the speakers...I had to use needle nose pliers to get them off, then when I installed the new speakers, I found some Phillips head screws that were similar length, thread and thickness and used my cordless drill to screw them in...worked like a charm!
I’m glad it worked out for you
The speaker bolts themselves are 5.5mm. Thanks Ford.
This is the most informative video I have seen on this topic....and I've seen a lot.
Kudos.
Now searching your channel for the back doors.
Update:
Sadness.
You helped me out big time Brother 🙌🏻 thank you now I can do my own
Sweet!
FYI, you don't have to remove the door blue handle piece on the door (3:45 on video) There are 2 clips behind the "door handle section" that hold the unit/section to the door panel. Just push those 2 clips behind the panel in and the entire piece "door handle section only" on panel comes off and then just feed it through the opening. Just look behind the door handle section and you will see what I am talking about-right hand side of 3:45 on video. At least on my 2014 F-150. Great video brother thanks you.
This video is perfect for those that don’t have the best tool set so ..
Nice
Good job guys! Great not having to take off the panel all the way off. Loved the pliers to unscrew speaker screws, gave me a good laugh!!😅
Haha 😂 thank you
Im glad you didnt edit out the struggle that it comes with. Your the truest!
Thank you! I appreciate it
Had my door panel off, speaker removed, and realized I needed some sort of pigtail adapter. Thanks for showing your use of it and providing the amazon link. Itll be here tomorrow!
What is the amazon link? I don’t see it?

im so glad you posted this. i was trying to find these before i purchased

Nice! Gonna be trying this soon. Doesn't look too bad.
Great video, thank you. Will be doing mine now thx to you sir.
Thank you. Good Luck
“And to put it back in you just wanna.....(uhhh insert bong toke here) put it back in..”
Great recommendation on the speakers. Thanks.
Thank you for including the link for the connector! Totally forgot about that haha
Happy to help!
this was super helpful--just got a 2014 used to pull a trailer and my right front speaker sounds like garbage
Nice that you dont have to disconnect the door handle cable to do the speaker swap.:)
Thank you guys so much!!
Joe Egland you are welcome
The best video ever. Gracias bro
Thank you!
tks for the help guys. Nice vid and I used it to do one side of my 2012.
Great to hear!
Thanks guys! The stock speakers suuuuck! I wish I found your video a few years ago!!
Haha, you are welcome. Thank you for watching
Thanks for the video guys
Stephen Farmer you are welcome. I hope it helped
Thank you very much for this
Good job! 👍 Thanks!
Thank you
I don't know how it is now but years ago if you wanted factory replacement speakers to sound decent, they needed an amp to push them. Pioneer used to make a paper dual cone full range that sounded great and put out a lot more bass and decibels without having to replace the head unit or add an amp. Like all good things, they probably don't exist anymore.
Watched the vid a few times before attempting... The problem I always have is disconnecting the electrical plugs. Tough enough even when I can see what I'm doing. So here's a couple of hints that helped me.
Put the windows down. makes it easier to work on the back of the door panel through the window opening.
Put the locks down. Easier to remount the doooor panel over the retracted lock.
I could not get the plugs off the electric window control so I ended up popping it up and off to remove the plugs
Nice work Ed!
CluEngineer do i need to use an amp for these door speakers if I have 2 10’ subs witj an amp?
My new speaker doesn't have a plug on it but factory harness does how do u get a adapter and where
my dude thank you
PARTYWITHGUNTHER, welcome!
hey great video! is the process the same for the back doors?
By putting those 6x8 , do you think if I put some 6x9 would be enough space to fit?
did the copper color connectors you connected to the new speaker come with your speaker?
Great video, but I have a question and maybe you guys know the answer. I have a 2014 F150 with a blown drivers side tweeter and I have ordered a factory replacement, but I can`t seem to find any videos of anyone who has replaced that side before, only the other side with the oh shit handle on it. You got any idea how you get the plastic molding off of there to get to that speaker? Thanks!
Cool vid brother and good job. Hos do you like these fosgates as opposed to the stock speakers? Do you have any amp pushing them at all?
Gabriel Cuervo I like the speakers better. They hold up a lot better when I am blasting the tunes. I wish I had an amp in the truck. It would sound much better.
Did the speakers work good with the stock amp dose it sound good? My stock speakers are trash
Is it the same steps with the back door too
Thanks, do you have a video on how to replace the center dashboard speaker
Potosino8304 unfortunately no.
Did the speakers come with the adapter connector ?
Is it the same prossers for the back doors? 🤔
Dude...get your Dad, G-pa, or that really cool Uncle to get you a proper set of tools. That's the kind of stuff that we like to do for our kids/grandkids/nephews! Good vid!
They have given me a lot of tools throughout the years but I did have a pretty limited tool box back in the day haha
Where did you get that connector that just plugged into the factory wiring? I’m not a fan of crimping or soldering so that is something I would want! Any idea if a 6x9 would fit in there?
Joseph Cercone, both links are in description
Holy Crap boys, ask for a good tool set for Christmas. Still an awesome video. Make do with what you have!!
JChezy I’ve got one tool box while I’m in college!
Would these speaker wire adapters work with any aftermarket speakers for this year truck?
I do not think so since their are endless amounts of aftermarket speakers.
Hey dude thx for the video, so what exactly is your speaker model so I can buy it
See description. I have all of the links. Thank you
Good video guys. But maybe go to Harbor Freight and spend $20 on a socket set!
I have a 2014 F150, trying to install Rockford Fosgate speakers. I bought the Metra 72-5600 adapters but they don’t fit over the terminals on the speakers.
I did this exact same thing. Have you found a solution to it?
Do you know if the factory radio has the RCA connections and accessory wire to hook a sub up, with the factory radio?
It does not
Don’t know if you’ll see this, just ordered the same speakers and speaker connector cable, a lot of people were saying the connector that you have, the polarity is reversed on them, did you have any problem with speakers working or if it fits the rockfords, thanks🤘🏼
carson fletcher, I haven’t heard of that. I didn’t have to switch any polarity
CluEngineer glad to hear that, thank you!
Where did you get the adapter for the wires
See description. I have all of the links. Thank you
Did you replace it with a 6x9?
Where do you get the adapter
Guys appreciate the video. You know that Napa, Lowe’s, Home Depot have a cheap set of tools. Hey what size Fosgate did you put in? 5x7 or 6x9?
I belive they are 6x8
Did you guys check the polarity for your wire harness? I ordered the same ones, but the reviews to the link you sent everyone says it is wired incorrectly and you could be missing out on some better sound
You have an update on the wiring harness? Did you have to do anything extra?
@@1985NEVETS no they came in perfect the way that they should 👍🏼
@@andrewbowman605 k thanks
Are the speakers you placed louder than the stock? I had tried a pioneer 5X7 on mine yesterday and sounded the exact same so I took it back but I want a louder one.
Get an amp, bruh
The couple sites I looked at say the 72-5600 adapter isn't compatible with a 2010 F-150. Any idea why? Crutchfield offers the 72-5601 but no idea what the difference is. Trying to buy the 5600 locally at Best buy.
Did you have any luck? I'm running into the same issue.
@@wesleybrasier8368 Yeah I believe the adapter fit but I think I had to swap the wires around as most reviews say. I didn’t notice a big difference either way though. I guess my ears aren’t that trained.
If you do have to swap the wires, don’t splice them. Just get something tiny you can fit down inside the connector to press the release and the wire will pull out of the socket. Then you just swap the orientation and they click back in.
What size are those
Where did you buy that adapter for the speaker?
Speaker Connector: amzn.to/2JF1ziJ
Does anyone know what size the back speakers are ? For the Same truck in the video ?
See description
great video, where to buy the wire connectors??
Here are the connectors I used. Amazon says they do not fit my truck but they do. Only $5 bucks to. Worth the convenience: amzn.to/2JF1ziJ
CluEngineer thank you so much!
@@lesgus72
Thank you
What size speakers did you buy?
6x8 For more info on the speakers: amzn.to/2gTZkPg
Those bolts holding the speakers on are 5.5 mm. I ended up buying a 5.5 mm socket just for the speaker replacement.
What about the tweeters located above the dash by the windows?
I though about doing it but I would have to buy new A pillars or an adapter to make it look nice.
@@92813justin piece of cake also, I did mine
What size are the speakers? 6x9?? 5x8??
6x8. Here is some more information on the exact speaker I used: amzn.to/2gTZkPg
CluEngineer are the rear door speakers the same as the front door speakers, 6x8?
Are they 6×9s that fit?
6x8
Speaker Connector: amzn.to/2JF1ziJ
What size speaker is that 6 / 8?
Yes! Theres more information in the description as well
Man working like a caveman with the lack of tools, hahah! "AH, ME CLU-GINEER, ME USE PLIERS FOR SCREWDRIVING!"
Thanks for the upload, helpful video!
Haha 😂, college budget didn’t stop me
@@92813justin Certainly understand, I remember those days. Thanks for posting! I am beginning planning for a system in my 13.
Thank you
You are welcome
i love unintentional comedy
What about the speakers in the back???
I wish, but was only able to by one set at the time
Somebody get these guys an automotive pick set and a socket set.
I'm not railing on these young men, but this video goes to show why every young man needs a good and complete set of tools. Real men own tools.
Stanton Taylor Real men can do it with or without all of the correct tools
Like the improvisation when you didn't have the right tools...
Thanks, I only have a small tool box in college so I got to make it work.
What size
See description
Good video kids... just please invest in some tools!
When I get a big boy job I will!
Doesn't do much unless you add some additional clean power
Jason D. This is true. I just didn't want to add an amp and mess with the headunit or add the converter.
He had to sound a lot better then factory though right?
Those speakers in the f150s are shitty as hell I have same truck a 2012 lariat with same shitty speakers replaced all of them and sounds great
11th gens you don’t even have to take the door panels off
You can take the speaker grille off by itself?
Nice job you make a cute couple how long you two been together, are you married or just common law
DB
Way faster if you pull out the speakers grill 😂 instead of the door panel.
How can you do that?
"You know what would be easier?" Spence asks. I answer "If you rolled the window DOWN".
Haha
@@92813justin 😆
use a power drill bud
Richard Sanchez hand tools are your friend.
Your using an adjustable wrench to remove the speaker...🤣🤣🤣
At least he didn't use the hammer this time.
And they sound like shit right
Never said the size for door speaker bolts that’s all I need to know. Using a crescent wrench wtf bro two thumbs down
Dude buy some tools
Don't worry, that my was college tool set. I have a lot more tools now.
Get some proper tools
First of all, get yourself some basic tools. What man doesnt have a s ocket set and tool kit with basic screwdrivers and wrenches? Cmon. Second, all you have to do is pop the interior panel off the hooks. You dont need to disconnect anything. I just finished changing out all of my factory speakers in all four doors. Once the panel is loose, put the hooks back into the metal frame on an angle, let the panel hang there, and change out the speakers. Simple. And once again, get some basic tools or turn in your man card...
I was in college and those were the tool I had and enjoyed pushing the boundaries with my set. I know have a great tool set that I enjoy. To my knowledge you do need to take the panel off. I have not seen the speaker door pop off
