As someone who has struggled with Endometriosis for 6 years I just want to say a hysterectomy is not a cure and you most certainly can still have bleeding after one I had a hysterectomy in 2020 and I still have endometriosis and am suffering every single day of my life I'm glad she is bringing awareness to it but a hysterectomy is in no way a cure

@@FoxyRoxy853 I feel you completely. It is a debilitating disease that has ruined my life as well. Sadly no cure and not everyone has access to proper treatment either. It took me 17 years of medical gaslighting to finally receive a diagnosis via my first surgery.

Thank you Amy for talking about all the things I've been through too: endometriosis, hyperemesis (lost 50lbs in 2.5- to 3 months at my worst), and hysterectomy. If anyone knows a gynecologist in BC, Canada who knows their ass from their ego please drop me a line. I'm desperate enough to travel at this point. I'm still having a period 1.5 years after the removal of my uterus and the surgeon who did it has been fired and no one wants my referral because no one knows how the hell I'm still bleeding.
I have endometriosis too, the surgeons skill in removing all the endo tissue is key. I found a great surgeon through my local endometriosis support group. I am not sure what those would be in Canada, but I found mine through Google, then I called people listed on the contact page and one person referred me to another. I found a few surgeons that way. Make sure they are skilled and focus specifically on minimally invasive gynecological surgery for endo. Good luck!
@@AmandaSoaresMusic We're not allowed to contact surgeons ourselves in Canada and when I've tried anyway they won't even consider it, I have to have a referral. My doctor is eager to refer me to anyone I can find but none of the ones he's tried so far have taken me. Thanks for the luck, I need it. Good luck to you too - I'm glad you have support there. :)
Look up Osada technique surgery for adenomyosis, I have adenomyosis, similar to endometriosis....chose conservative treatment for myself.
@@chordsofgratitude2073 Oh, that's exactly what was described to me but that term was never offered, neither was the surgery you mentioned and it's too late now because my uterus is gone. It's funny what you learn after the fact. When I had my gallbladder out the surgeon never told me until after that it could grow back. Nice to know I'm giving my informed consent - NOT.
@@burnyizland , but you still need to be checked for both adenomyosis and endometriosis....even without your uterus you could still have them and even fibroids...check with a fertility gynecologist... They should be checking you out for those. Best wishes for a full recovery and health.

I’m so glad she is talking about it, maybe doctors will finally do something about it! I was “diagnosed”with endo for 15 years and they said there was nothing they could do, until it started crushing my bowls and bladder from all the growths/plaque build up, and they were like “oh ya we could’ve gone in earlier to remove it, now we will probably have to resect your bowel….sorry!” 😠 luckily they didn’t, they were able to get it all out, but it took so long because there was so much of it they had to split it into two surgeries. It makes me so mad they didn’t do anything sooner. They didn’t even offer an option.
I’m so sorry this happened to you. I suspect I to suffer from endometriosis. I went to my OB/GYN but they want to send me for a transvaginal ultrasound. The only problem is the only place that covers that procedure is in the hospital. I’m afraid. I don’t want to get naked in front of a bunch of X-ray techs who are not obgyns

2:46 Thank you Amy for voicing women’s concerns in medicine. This happens to us in other stages of life too. Menopause for example. There’s a pill for men’s erection but women suffer years and decades of their lives from conditions set on by the physical make up of the women anatomy. We are half the population and deserve more research $$$.

Amy gets a lot of hate but I really like her. She isn't trying to be overly cool, she is just herself. if people watch her pregnancy documentary, it is very eye opening ot how FREAKING hard it is to be pregnant with complications. It made me respect her so much more. She brings attention to very important social issues like female reproductive health, women's equality, and also normalizing and accepting anyone on the autism spectrum. SHe makes a lot of jokes, but really she is such a caring person.
She is constantly trying to make herself the centre of attention even when the situation isn't about her. She tried to make the whole will smith oscar's thing about her by saying it was so traumatizing for her (the fuck?) and she went on to moan about how the oscar's banned her from delivering such gut-punching jokes like "Don’t Look Up is the name of a movie? More like don’t look down the barrel of Alec Baldwin’s shotgun". Its incredibly insensitive, incredibly unfunny and the joke doesn't even make sense (baldwin isn't even vaguely associated with don't look up?). Plus it probably isn't even her joke anyway. She is a terrible, terrible comedian and everything she does is like scraping nails down a chalkboard.

I think a lot of women's medical issues are waaaaay under diagnosed! My menstrual cycles made me so ill, I wanted a hysterectomy at the age of 12. And my father was a doctor! I left home at 15, but when I saw my Dad again at 21, I asked him why didn't he put me on The Pill! He told me it was because he did not want his 12 year old daughter on The Pill. It would have definitely changed my life. Girls, if you have issues with your cycles, please look for help and keep looking until you find someone who will listen to you and treat you. You do not have to suffer every month. On another subject..............next will be Gummy Viagra! lol!
