    I just did this last month, from the Divide to the Flats campsite and then back. I was thinking to myself, all the way to the Flats in one day is a haul, then remembered all the extra steps to get the shots too. Well done!

    That falls you visited is stunning. The sheer size is absolutely just wow. 💙

      I literally couldn't fit it all in the video so had to do a second pan shot. Was worth it though :)

      It was amazing. I would love to go back in winter or spring as the peaks of the mountains would have snow. Winter it's a white out and many tracks are closed

    The amount of extra walking you did on top of the 30km day to get the shots... nice work!! Exceptional video.
    Can't wait to go do it next month!

      Oh you will love it and have probably picked the best time. I did this in early January which was peak summer so I'm sure you'll be seeing more snow capped mountains when you go. Enjoy!!

    Great video - bloody heck from the divide to RB Flats in one day geez. I recently did the routeburn track a week ago East to West, staying at Falls and Mackenzie huts. I remember thinking walk down from the saddle to lake mackenzie i would not want to walk up this in the reverse direction. Its a fabulous walk one of my favs, its the 3rd time Ive done it one of the best. Hats off to you walking all that way whew.... then you had the sandflies little devils omg i laughed. great vid

      Haha yeah I thought I would put that in at the end for a laugh. At least I can show what it is really like as there is a lot of editing in this and other video's that cut out some realistic parts of the trip.

    Awesome content. I've got a really dumb question, what's your process for setting up for the shot? Do you remove your backpack to unload/load the tripod every time you do a shot?

    • @seancjmatthews
      @seancjmatthews  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not all the time. I sometimes carry it with the camera attached, or I will sometimes remove the camera and just carry the tripod. Definitley store your camera away over tricky sections though. I have dropped this camera a couple of times and smashed the rear screen trying to be lazy by not packing it up over slippery terrain.

    What is the "safe box" hanging on your car? Payment for trail use?

    • @seancjmatthews
      @seancjmatthews  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a car key box so that the car relocation services can come and relocate your car while you are on trail as this hike is a point to point style with very limited bus/public transport options up in the mountains. I hiked this over peak season so most public services were all booked up. At the end of the video you'll see the same hire car in a new spot.

      @@seancjmatthews Thank you. Good to know about this service. We like New Zealand and are heading back again next year. We will be hiking the Grand Traverse track with Ultimate Hikes. I am a wimp so cannot carry so much stuff.
