Been a few years since I set a mullet net. Thanks inspired some memories from the 60's of my grandpa at Muriwai who loved mullet guts for bait some of my first fishing memories were of him casting for big snapper off the rocks at the end of Muriwai. He also had a slow smoker and the smoked mullet were soooooo good. I also remember my own netting where we would do exactly that, there was a company picnic at Cornwallis my friend Fua would walk out with me and as we freed the mullet he would poke a finger into a soft spot behind the gills and hook out the livers with ease and eat them raw on the spot. Cheers for some great memories.
