  • Masterpiece by Paul Drayton, with subtitles! Commisioned and performed by The King's Singers.
These subtitles have been created with patience and good will, but there are certainly many words missing (particularly those fragments in wich many composers are mentioned). In this rendition by The King's Singers, most of the music and the text are entirely different to the original score by Paul Drayton. Any correction or addition will be welcome!
(*) Composer of the "Blue Denim" Waltz (footnote by Paul Drayton)
(*) Compositor del vals del "Denim Azul" (nota al pie de Paul Drayton) :D

00:00:00 Next, we sing a piece called 'Masterpiece' by the english composer Paul Drayton. As the title suggests, 'Masterpiece' is a modest title for a piece with modest pretensions. It aims to illustrate the entire history of the last four hundred years of western classical music in about nine minutes. Many and varied are the composers mentioned, so if your favourite doesn't appear tough!
    00:00:31 Johann Sebastian Bach
00:00:42 Moderato, vivace. Vivace, non troppo e molto serioso.
    00:01:22 I said Sebastian

The segue from William Byrd 11:10 to "Cage" 11:23 is rather amusing and I especially like the theatrics at "Stockhausen" 11:30. Witty and poised.

After Holst, I heard Böhm then Buus then Boyce then Blanc. It's tricky sounding because they hold the last syllables over after they start the next composer, so you have to ignore the t sound from Lizst and Holst. XD
