Having a romwe booth at the same con with the artists they stole from (or any small business!) is so wrong 😢 and the AI portraits at a con that I’m sure also has real artists there…
It's so sad that AX is supporting brands like SHEIN and Romwe :'( it's ridiculous frankly. I'm not American, so it's not really my place, but I hope people speak out against it.
People are definitely pissed...but some say I can't afford alt fashion, not decora specifically but I think those people don't realize that most alt people have thrifted pieces from all over the place, so it's a big back and forth. Everyone I know who is alt has majority thrifted pieces, and honestly it's the same for me, allot of pieces online that are commonly advertised as alt are from ali express/temu and seem to be the somewhat the same as shein and romwe so i avoid those entirely.
@@moraeza Totally agree! Also you don't need ton of clothing, you can be part of a style and only have two outfits. I feel like building a wardrobe should come with time not that you buy a whole ass haul at once. Social media just has pressured alot of ppl to feel like you need a new outfit every time but the truth is ppl don't care that much.
It just sucks that some conventions do not choose to support the creators who come to sell there. I was at Dokomi last month and they were very anti-theft and anti-AI and tbh any convention should be.

The worst part is that so many people defend them, even after knowing everything bad that they did. You can explain in detail every last horrible thing shein has done and people will still buy from them and say “I don’t care, I’m buying it anyways”. Just horrible!!
and it’s worse when people who buy hauls with that mentality. those people who would also say “why buy [insert indie brand item] when for the same price i can buy 5 of [stolen design from the same brand]?”

Shein, Romwe, and any of their other offshoots should NOT have any place in a subculture's events like this. That's literally just allowing them to go around and find pieces they can steal designs from. It's a well-known practice in fast fashion for companies to send people to conventions like this to scout out other designers, buy their pieces, copy the designs and patterns of those pieces, and then resell it in their own shops. And the AI portraits??????????? Can you GET any more obvious about what your intentions are. AI IS ART THEFT!
I saw your designs pop up in ads from shein for about a month, and they were discontinued after. I wonder if there was people spreading the word, because there was so much decora fashion that came and disappeared
