  • I've been cleaning out files and have been finding reactions that somehow never got uploaded! This particular one was fantastic and I really enjoyed it! Better late than never, I suppose. Such a huge band, such amazing chemistry, such an intimate setting. Would have loved to be there! #snarkypuppy

Snarky Puppy is a crazy rabbit hole. They have several albums, all with insane variety within then, but also completely different from each other. Most of their current and former members have great solo and side projects, collaborations and features, and there are more than two dozens of them!
The band itself has won 6 Grammy awards, and some of its members have been nominated for some of their own projects, including the dude in the blue guitar, Mark Lettieri, who composed Trinity.

I cannot get over how TIGHT their horn section is. It's just unreal.

    On this track - 3 guitars, 1 bass, 4 keyboards, 2 woodwinds, 2 trumpets, 1 violin, 3 percussionists, and - 3 DRUMMERS

Welcome to the world of Snarky Puppy. Many of these players have stellar solo projects as well.

Next up should be Lingus followed by Dont you Know with guest Jacob Collier. Brilliant.

Those were my first two vids I saw of these guys…. way awesome band. I’d also add “Something” (w/Lalah Hathaway)… SP’s first grammy

Sadly, Shaun Martin, the man with the talk box, passed away on 8/3/24. He was 45. Complications from a 2023 stroke. He hold 7 Grammys between Snarky and Kirk Franklin.

there is a cool making off video on their channel, and Bob Reynolds (one of the sax players) has a behind the scenes video too on his own channel. They are so goated

I loved the Bob Reynolds one because it made it so clear that Michael builds a framework and each section fills out their parts then they get together as a band. And the idea that they do all that in about 2-3 hours per song is insane.

Wild that you haven't been turned on to them yet...better late than never. I've seen them a lot...including last weekend and going in April for my birthday to see them at the Kennedy Center. The guy on the talk box?...that's Shaun Martin who is, unfortunately, battling a major health issue that they're keeping private. We're all praying for him.

@@miff227 Yeah I know...we'll see. Everyone was respectful last week at ground up. I did talk to Sput a little in the artist lounge and all he'd say was he's not out of the woods yet.

Some background: The band was formed in Denton TX at Northern Texas University (formerly North Texas State) which has been a mecca for jazz musicians for literally decades.
The audience is all on ‘Silent Disco’ bluetooth headphones from the main board. Welcome to the best SP rabbit hole🎼

There are a bunch of videos on YT... they are all with X Milion + views... I don't want to recommend any of masterpieces because they are ALL incredible! Must see...😉

Hhahaa, great reaction, love how the switch comments are too off guessing how mant drummer and percussionist. 3 drummers, 3 percussionist is the right answer..

Too many interruptions and get a fidget spinner and and stop twisting your hair.

I've since cut my hair and sobered up (no more hair twirling and much less fidgeting).
